Five stars isn't enough for this book! The suspense will have you flying through the chapters. I also loved experiencing this story through three narrators. Fans of the first book will not be disappointed! It exceeded my expectations and is definitely going to be one of my top reads for 2024.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review Netgalley!

I finished this page turning sequel last night. It had been sometime since i finished the first installment of Mrs. Parrish and it took a minute to remember all the details but i really enjoyed this book. It was super cringey in regards to the emotional and mental abuse Daphne was subjected to (likely the point)- it hit hard and I really felt for her. The characters were intertwined just right for everything to unfold and wrap up nicely! 4 stars from me! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this book early, will definitely share with all of my reader friends

📚: The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
⭐️: 3.5/5 (rounding down on #goodreads)

The Mrs. Parrishes - both Amber and Daphne - are back in this much-anticipated sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish with another game of cat-and-mouse that exposes secrets from the past and present, lies, and manipulation.

Jackson Parrish comes home from his prison sentence for tax evasion as a “changed man” (but is he really?). Amber can feel her money draining - and quick - and needs to figure out how to get cash fast to keep up with her Bishops Harbor lifestyle. Daphne, after moving her children out to California, vowing to never return to Connecticut, finds herself torn when her eldest daughter is desperate to see her father. Returning home is tough, but in this case, also dangerous.

I cannot stress enough that reading the prequel novella The Last Shot is absolutely mandatory before picking up this sequel when it comes out. (Amber’s backstory that plays out in the [absolutely brilliant] novella plays a huge role in the plot.)

A bit of a slow burn in the first half, but overall a very strong 3.5 star read - rounding down because, yes, it doesn’t quite live up fully to the original that was 4 stars. Huge thanks to Random House - Ballantine (@randomhouse) via @netgalley for the digital ARC. The Next Mrs. Parrish is out this summer, on June 18th — mark your calendars because this is a definite beach read.

✨Thank you @NetGalley and @randomhouse for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Also, thank you to @livconstantine2 for always writing page-turners!

✨In an exquisite sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish, Amber and Daphne return with the hardships that come along with being socialites in the spotlight.

✨Awaiting Jackson’s release from prison on a tax-evasion sentence, Amber has an intricate plan to take off from Bishop’s Harbor. Money is dwindling and she must do whatever is necessary to get by.

✨Daphne has left Bishop’s Harbor after her divorce from Jackson years ago, promising never to return. But when she slowly starts making her way back with their children in tow, she has to remember Jackson can’t be trusted.

✨While a woman from Amber’s past resurfaces, she is hell-bent on revenge. Unlikely allies, no one to trust, and games of cat and mouse, Amber, Daphne, and Jackson are all in for a big surprise.

✨As always, Liv Constantine knows how to hold an audience at attention! This was a fabulous sequel, well-written, and full of dramatic revenge. And of course, the cover is superb 🤩

I liked this book. A fast read and glad amber and Jackson got what was coming to them. Perfect ending for Jackson. I liked the addition of daisy ann and didn’t see a few twists and turns. Glad everything worked out for Daphne and her girls. Would highly recommend.

First, thanks so much NetGalley for the chance to read The Next Mrs. Parrish!

I'm a huge Liv Constantine fan! I loved The Last Mrs. Parish and The First Shot, so I was beyond excited when I got approved and I was NOT disappointed!

Amber, Daphne, and Jackson are back with lots of drama, twists and turns in The Next Mrs. Parish!

Liv did it again with this one! The next Mrs. Parish kept me on the edge of my set and guessing. Everytime I thought I had figured something out, we take a turn in another direction! I loved this series and sincerely hope this is not the last book of it!!

I was glad to read about these characters again.

I’m glad it seemed like everyone got what they deserved. This wasn’t as a much as a page turner as the first book, but still enjoyed overall.

Daisy Anne was a good addition to the POVs and her story line added some good dimension.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ecopy of this book which comes out in June!

This was a tough one. I really wanted to like this, but it was long and drawn out and I didn't like any of the characters. The dialogue felt stunted and the book read like a procedural. I stopped halfway through and read some reviews to see if it was worth continuing. Reviews were mixed, so I pushed forward, skimming the second half. The idea was there, I just didn't like the writing.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved the last mrs. Parrish and was nervous because sometimes sequels that come out years later aren't that great but this one isn't that. Its amazing! Loved this book and the addition of Daisy. Very well written and left it open for another book or story!

This is a fun next chapter with two original characters and a new one. While two of them are unlikeable, the only nice one is truly naive (I was cringing at her every move). A satisfying tale and quick read.

The Next Mrs. Parrish, Liv Constantine
The Next Mrs. Parish picks up where The Last Mrs. Parrish left off, but gives us a lot of flashbacks of what previously happened and I was super grateful for that! It's been since 2018 when I read the original The Next Mrs. Parrish, so of course I couldn't remember much about it.
The story is told from 3 women's points of view.
Amber: Jackson Parrish's current wife. She is always trying to hide and run from her past, and Jackson!!!! Her advancements are the only things on her agenda.
Daisy Ann: Daisy Ann's father was manipulated into marrying Amber years before, ultimately causing his untimely death. Daisy Ann is determined to make Amber pay for what she's done...even if it's at the risk of her own family.
Daphne: Jackon's first wife who he mentally and physically abused. She moves back to the area for the summer solely because their two daughters are desperate to see and have a relationship with their father.

This was a highly anticipated book for me and I was SO excited to get an early copy, but honestly, it fell flat for me. The storyline with Daphne and Jackson was great, but it became very businessy and money-orientated with Amber and Daisy Ann. I didn't like that storyline at all. Sadly, I was really disappointed in this book…mostly because the original was so great!! ⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Net Galley and Random House Group for the eARC of this book. I was thrilled to see a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish because I loved the story & the twists & turns. Unfortunately, I think the sequel, The Next Mrs. Parrish fell terribly flat. The plot seems to dwell so much on the events in the first book, so much of the story felt like a recap. And while the original storyline was intriguing, it felt like overkill.

The new storylines were interesting, albeit far fetched, but just did not feel at all cohesive so the ending felt like it was explaining it all rather than bringing it together.

Thank you to netfalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was super excited to read this sequel, after recently reading the original. I absolutely loved the original, but this one fell a little flat for me. It was almost TOO much cat and mouse to keep track of and I didn’t love how Daphne went back to Jackson at all.

I did like how both Jackson and Amber finally got what they deserved and that Daphne was finally free in the end, but overall the plot was a bit all over the place for me on this one.

THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH (MRS. PARRISH #2)
BY: LIV CONSTANTINE

About 2.5 Stars!

I want to express my gratitude to the publisher for granting me an early eARC of this sequel. I really wanted to love this, but I was hugely disappointed. I usually enjoy this duo of sisters novels who write under the pen named Liv Constantine, but this one was completely underwhelming for me throughout the entire book from start to finish. I actually thought "The First Mrs. Parrish," was entertaining with a brilliant twist that elevated my reading experience. So I was thrilled to see a sequel to a book that is memorable that I held in high esteem. I was thrilled and excited when I saw this on my shelf so much so, that I bumped it to the top of my list because I couldn't wait to read it. On top of that I have had good luck with all of this author's previous books.

Jackson is released from prison for tax fraud and he wants to get Daphne back even though she has made a new life in California with her two daughters. Her eldest daughter runs away with teenage angst of wanting to see her father. Everybody in her inner circle advises Daphne against going back to Bishop's Harbor thinking it's a bad idea. Daphne doesn't listen thinking that her daughter will just keep repeating her bad behavior unless she is able to have a relationship with her father. I admired her for putting her daughter's needs above what could be bad for herself. Jackson and Amber didn't have the harmonious outcome as was predictable. They were both so repulsive to me that it made this book take much longer than usual to finish. I don't think that a plot summary beyond this is necessary because it would lead to spoiler material.

This one however felt depressing by which the characters were mostly despicable. It's not that I don't need to like the characters to praise a novel, because I have in the past more than I can count. It's just that I found Jackson and Amber to be sociopaths and characters need layers to make the "unbelievable" credible. I don't think in terms of black and white and believe that usually there is a gray area. In these two characters they lacked anything close to hint at any redeeming traits.

It's been a few years since I read, "The First Mrs. Parrish," which I didn't like Amber or Jackson neither in that novel, but somehow it was one that I've never forgotten. I didn't feel like they were so deplorable as to make them so flat like they were portrayed here in this sequel. Sometimes a sequel isn't necessary and just doesn't make for an engrossing read, and is unable to obtain the immersive substance that the one that preceded it did. I can think of a few sequels that I won't mention names where the first book was electrifying and the second one couldn't duplicate the thrill of the first in a series.

With that being said, Daphne's characterization in the first book was able to come across as sympathetic. In this one she made some questionable choices that came across as inauthentic. This next critique has nothing to do with Daphne's less than selling points which I for one didn't buy. I didn't think there was a need to mention so many designer names and superficial descriptions about how someone looked or what they were wearing or how good or bad looking someone was. I think that I kept reading hoping that this would get better and I'm sad to say that it didn't. I can't remember the last time when a highly anticipated novel that I was interested in reading lacked the depth that this one did. I'm surprised because I usually have had good experiences with this sister team of prior published novels of which I am a fan.

I am in the minority here so please check other reviews before you make the decision on whether to pick up this one based on my thoughts. I also think maybe the timing of when I read this could be a contributing factor, but I'm leaning towards doubting that it had anything to do with it. I also think that I have less of an appetite for total misogynistic characters such as is the case of Jackson. Some other reviewers seemed to have loved this so I do wish these co-authors my best wishes on finding their target audience to whom this sequel may appeal to.

I really loved The Last Mrs. Parrish. It was probably one of the first thrillers I had ever read and I was really astounded by the twist. I thought it was so compelling and clever. This sequel, unfortunately, is not that. The story is engaging enough that I wanted to find out the ending (not that it was surprising at all), but the writing was not good (so much so that it really stood out) and the twists and turns were so comically convoluted that the only way to explain them was character exposition for pages on end. Amber is still an interesting character but the Jackson and Daphne really seemed like boring stock characters with no depth. Their storyline was just about an exact retread of the previous book. Daisy Ann was a cliche and trying to mesh the different storylines at the end of the book didn’t make a lot of sense.
Thank you to Bantam and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Although I previously read The Last Mrs. Parrish, I started reading this and was very confused. Then I saw some reviews saying I needed to read The First Shot which definitely helped fill in the back story, but the whole situation was a bit was frustrating. This book was decent but it took me so long to get into it and then at the end, it all just felt so unrealistic.

I devoured The Last Mrs. Parrish so of COURSE I was going back for seconds when I got the surprise of The Next Mrs. Parrish!

Daphne, Jackson, and Amber did it again. The psychological twists and turns - and the addition of new characters - kept me flying through the pages. Every time I thought I knew who mattered, who was good or bad, who was just an accessory compared to an entire plot - well then something would twist and I'd be back to the drawing board.

A must read for sure!

I loved the first Mrs. Parrish novel so I was excited to see a sequel was made. It was hard to truly love this one because Jackson and Amber were awful human beings. This was more like a 3.5 star book, but the ending was satisfying so I’ll bump it up.
