A great continuation of the Mrs. Parrish duology. Will there be a trilogy? Hard to see there could be but Amber always surprises everyone!

The Next Mrs. Parrish continues the story of the Parrish family. The young, new wife is only the new wife for one thing - herself. The former Mrs. Parrish will not give up nor give in to protecting her children. The Mr. Parrish is as twisted as the new and as dedicated to verbal and mental abuse as the former.

The story twists and turns. There was a jaw drop. I really did not see Texas coming!

Will recommend to friends - after they read the first!

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine is the sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish. The authors (yes, Liv is actually two sisters, Lynne and Valerie) also wrote a short prequel, The First Shot.

Let’s start with the recommended order of reading. In my opinion, the novels should be read in this order:
1. The Last Mrs. Parrish
2. The First Shot (novella) – yes, I think this one is worth reading for Amber’s back story and also to set the stage for Daisy Ann
3. The Next Mrs. Parrish

I enjoyed The Next Mrs. Parrish, but it was probably my least favorite of the three. We follow the main characters, Daphne, Jackson, and Amber, doing even more shady scheming than before… but it felt darker, almost helpless at times… particularly for Daphne and the kids. I appreciated the ending. It felt redemptive and brought me out of the dark despair that the middle of the novel brought. The Constantine sisters are becoming an auto-read author for me.

The Next Mrs. Parrish was the much awaited follow up to the 2017 release The Last Mrs. Parrish. I absolutely loved the first book but was pretty disappointed in this one. The book is told from several different POV's, some told better than others. I am not the type of reader who has to like every book character but boy did this one have some dreadful humans! This was a fast, easy read but I just wasn't engaged at all. The story line was all over the place and not in a good way. I wonder if the disjointedness is caused by 2 authors writing a book together? I mean how does that even work? Do they alternate chapters? I just don't think this was very suspenseful or thrilling at all. If you enjoy mild domestic dramas, this might be for you. I just prefer more murder, twists, and thrills in my books.

The second act of the series and once again Daphne and Amber are at odds and we are left wondering who will end up with Jackson. There’s plenty of conniving and underhanded deals going on in this second installment. I would caution to read the first before this one to help fill in the gaps. It’s a life of luxury backed with a lot of entitlement and evil intent. Who will survive in the end??? Thanks to NetGalley for the read.

The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my all-time favorite "popcorn" thrillers so I was very excited to see a sequel coming out even though I had no idea what the premise could be. Also, I am a sucker for a good book cover and The Next Mrs. Parrish cover art reeled me in. It is seriously stunning!

Things I liked about the book were the multiple POVs (I thoroughly enjoy this style of writing) and the introduction of Daisy Ann, the only nontoxic character in this novel. Unfortunately, overall, the storyline fell flat for me. Halfway through the book, I was exhausted and felt like besides Daisy Ann, I could not keep up with all the new characters being introduced. The toxicity from the main characters, Daphne, Jackson, and Amber/Lana was too much for me to enjoy.

Again, I enjoy these authors style of writing, so I do look forward to another title from them.

When I was awarded The Next Mrs. Parrish as an ARC, I realized I needed to pull the first book, The Last Mrs. Parrish, off my TBR list. I am so glad I did, as the first book was fabulous, with so many twists and turns and intricacies. I could not imagine what was left to write in a future book. However, Liv Constantine, the author-sister duo, continued their original storyline, giving us another ride on the roller coaster with new twists and turns. The characters, with their complex and multi-layered personalities, further prove that appearances can be deceiving, but leopards do keep their spots, engaging us in their intricate lives.
As The Next Mrs. Parrish unfolds, Daphne, now settled in California, is drawn back to Connecticut by her daughter’s desire to connect with her father. Little does she know, she's about to be entangled in Jackson’s intricate web once more as he attempts to reclaim Daphne and their daughters.
Despite her achieved status in Connecticut, Amber finds herself in a constant struggle for more. Her desire for wealth, power, and prestige leads her to dream of a luxurious European life. However, her entanglement with Jackson, her uncertainty about her son, and a past crime force her to confront her actions and their consequences, giving the reader an enhanced insight into her past.
The Next Mrs. Parrish is a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, constantly questioning who can be truly trusted and who will ultimately emerge victorious. The suspense is not just palpable, it's gripping, making it a read that will keep you excited and hooked until the very end.

This book is a great spin off for the next book in the series. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Unfortunately, I found the plot is bogged down with so much backstory and I did not finish this one. I liked the first book but this one lacked the suspense and the pace of the first one. The constant info dumping of extra characters and flashbacks did not help me want to keep reading. I would have preferred a much more suspenseful pace like the first book.

The Next Mrs. Parrish was a fun twisty follow up to The Last Mrs. Parish. Jackson is coming out of prison, Amber is still a scheming conniving you know what, and Daphne has started over with her girls in California. However we knew it wouldn’t be long until she was sucked back into Jackson’s web and she returns to Bishops Harbor…that’s where things obviously get juicy and a ghost from Ambers “real” past emerges one that can potentially ruin everything.

Always a great read from this duo. Loved the story and the characters. While not needed, it helps to read the novella (prequel). It brings this story to life in an even better way.

When I tell you I rage read this one, I mean it as the highest of compliments. I devoured it!!

Hard to go too much into the plot without spoilers but Amber, Daphne, and Jackson are reunited and back to their shenanigans — plus there’s a new character in the mix. Daisy Ann, a jeweler from Texas, has it out for Amber, and she gets tied up in the scheming — but can she outsmart them all?

I’m sorry I know that’s vague 🫣 but if you loved THE LAST MRS. PARRISH, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, I read it years ago and it allll came back to me when reading so don’t worry about a reread if you don’t want to.

If you like a good page turner that you absolutely cannot put down this one is it! After the first book left me reeling I had to immediately jump into this one and it did not disappoint. I've read 2 books since this one and I'm still thinking about this book if that tells you anything about how good it is. I highly recommend this book if you've already read The Last Mrs. Parrish. Both of the books in the Mrs. Parrish series are great, but the second one in my opinion is even better than the first. A must read if you like mystery/thriller books.

You start reading about Amber, Daphne & Jackson which is to be expected, but then you get Daisy Ann thrown into the mix. You're left wondering who she is and what role she plays, but once you find out you won't be too surprised why she's now an intricate part to the story especially knowing Amber's past. Things come back to bite those who wrong others and that is exactly what happens in The Next Mrs. Parrish. You have to read the book to see exactly what cards they get dealt and I think they're well deserved.

Okay... tell me why I enjoyed this second book so much more than the first one in the series?? I think the first one definitely fell victim to being a popular thriller trope/twist that I just so happened to read multiple versions of in the same year... and even if The Last Mrs. Parrish was published first out of the books I read, the fact that I read it last dimmed my enjoyment a lot. This one however felt completely new and different and I appreciated that it continued on the original story while also adding characters and storylines that were brand new. I liked that the stakes felt higher since everyone knew what everyone else was capable after the first book... like everyone had to get smarter with their plots and plans in order to really be a step ahead of the others. I guess now I'm invested, so I'll read any future books in this series!

SYNOPSIS -- Amber Patterson Parrish has spent the better part of the last year working on her status as a prominent socialite in Bishops Harbor. Fresh off of her husband, Jackson's tax-evasion scandal, this was no small feat. Unfortunately for Amber, Jackson is soon-to-be released from prison, complicating both her life and her finances. Meanwhile, Jackson's ex-wife, Daphne, is living her best post-divorce life in California, determined never to return to her old life. Her daughters, however, don't seem to be having the same feelings, dragging Daphne back for their own good. When someone sets out to even the score from one of Amber's past mistakes, this triad of chaos must put aside their differences and start working together to save themselves... only question is, who isn't playing for the team?

I loved and hated this book simultaneously, but in the best way haha! The characters are all so unlikeable, that it was honestly hard to get through at times. Even Daphne, who I wanted to like, is so demure and hard to root for at times. However, this book, like THE LAST MRS PARRISH, is full of surprising twists until the very end. It was fun to pick up after the last book and follow up with some of these horrendous characters and their chaotic lives. Daisy Ann's perspective added some great dimension to this book; I think it could have easily been written without it but this added SO MUCH to the story and was a great inclusion. This was a great follow up to the first book, and it was fun to re-read THE LAST MRS PARRISH directly ahead of this one. This wrapped up their stories very nicely and I definitely enjoyed this overall!

Unrelated pet peeve: when characters use the same phrase over and over and over -- if Amber says "that rich bitch" one more time, I'm gonna lose it!

Do I need to read THE LAST MRS. PARRISH first? Yes! This is actually a direct continuation of the previous book, not just a companion. It would be pretty crucial to understand everything that's going on. I'd also recommend reading THE FIRST SHOT, which is a novella / short explaining Amber's situation before she came to the Parrishes. It's not required, but there is a ton of crossover and while explained in THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH, I think it's a good idea!

This was a fun read! I wasn't sure what to expect and where we would pick up after the way THE LAST MRS. PARRISH ended, and while I felt there was potential, I wasn't sure if we really needed a sequel. Now I'm glad we got it because thrillers are so often stand alones and we don't get to continue the stories, or the stories just don't warrant a sequel. We still had more to tell here and wanted to see Amber pay her consequences as well.

The book has a little bit different of a feel since in the first book, we were so shocked by the twist mid-way. THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH doesn't have that one giant twist to be wildly shocking, but there are some really fun little twists and turns along the way. The ending was satisfying and also even leaves room for a third book, should the authors want to pursue it, but not in a way that's a huge cliffhanger.

I also really liked the addition of Daisy Ann, who we met in THE FIRST SHOT, and I was so happy to see that Daphne still had Meredith in her corner. It was a sigh of relief to have Meredith there, helping her, and believing her story. THE LAST MRS. PARRISH was so tense and miserable at times because Daphne was so alone. I liked that she got a support system here. I also really liked seeing Daphne even stronger and more determined. This book continued to grow her character and while she still has to deal with the Jackson / Amber nightmare, she knows what she's in for and has some back-up plans to her other plans.

I really liked this read! It really made the story necessary to tell because life wasn't over after the ending of the last book. I thought it was a good way to continue on and spend more time with these characters.

The Last Mrs Parrish was such a great book it needed a sequel. We had to know what happened to Jackson and slimy Amber. Can I just say that Liv Constantine does a marvelous job writing a character I literally want to punch. I hate Amber so much, and in the book Jackson is just as bad.
I’m sure you read the synopsis of the book so I’m not going to repeat that. I want to tell you that if you haven’t read this book yet- get it right now and start reading it. No need to re read the first one because we get reminders of what happened. Poor Daphne, she’s stronger in this book but also only cares about her children. Girl, take the gloves off! And we meet a new character named Daisy Ann, she’s going to stop at nothing to payback Amber for “killing” her daddy years ago in a hunting accident. Way to get your revenge Daisy Ann!

I’m not sure this exactly counts as a thriller but the suspense was a fun change from my usual genres and I had a lot of fun with this one! I thought this was a solid follow up to the first book with some interesting new characters. I thought the different POVs were cycled through really well and I was invested in all three storylines equally, which is always really important to me when I'm reading a book with multiple POVs. The ending went a little off the rails for me because I feel like it tried to wrap things up too perfectly. I'm torn between saying the ending was a good callback to earlier events (spoiler: the jewels that Amber sold) but also it wasn't satisfying that characters we weren't really familiar with were the deciding factor in some of these things (spoiler: I thought it moved a little too fast as well. Jackson gets out of jail then is almost immediately hospitalized by the thugs that beat him up. Not that I would have ever expected Daphne to exact any physical revenge, I was still a little surprised that these goons just randomly came in were able to tie things up in a bow). Regardless, I really really enjoyed! Would definitely recommend to anyone who has read The Last Mrs. Parrish.

This was such a fun, fast paced read! I was hooked from the very beginning and loved the multiple POVs because you never knew who was playing who. This book had my jaw on the floor multiple times! Just when you thought these characters couldn’t be more cunning, they turn around and surprise you with something next level.

If domestic suspense is your jam, this is the book for you! This book has all the secrets, lies, and more. Thank you Liv Constantine and Bantam for my gifted eARC!

The sequel I didn’t know I needed. The next Mrs. Parrish is just as cunning as the first. I will say I enjoyed book one more, however this one still delivers. Brining you your favorite characters with all their drama, secrets, & backstabbing. You be disappointed by picking this one up and getting some closure.
