Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for giving me early access to this book! All opinions are my own.
I’m not normally a thriller fan, but I really enjoyed the original The Last Mrs. Parrish. I was very excited to read The Next Mrs. Parrish, and it did not disappoint! The twist at the end completely got me, to the point I had to set my kindle down to take a breather. Such a good continuation/conclusion of the original story, even if Daphne did make me want to pull my hair out from frustration. If you enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish definitely pick this up! 3.5⭐️

**Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House-Ballantine, and Liv Constantine for an ARC of this book!**
"Revenge is sweet and not fattening" - Alfred Hitchcock
Amber Patterson Parrish planned EVERYTHING out when she decided she would stop at nothing to become the wife of wealthy Jackson Parrish...except what she would do when he got out of prison, that is. Amber's scheme (detailed in the first book of this series, The Last Mrs. Parrish) involved leaving her questionable past behind, sidling up to Mr. Moneybags, earning his trust and his love...and then getting him locked up for tax evasion and enjoying a lavish lifestyle on her own, scot-free. After all, when it comes to love or money? It's ALWAYS been an easy choice for Amber. But as Jackson's bank account dwindles and the clock continues to tick, panic sets in. Will Amber's standing in Bishop's Harbor and the life that has become second nature to her be ripped away when her 'Darling' Husband returns...with his own axe to grind?
Meanwhile, Jackson's first wife Daphne has her own connections to Jackson that keep her tied to her horrifying past...her beautiful daughters. She too knows that Jackson's time in prison is coming to an end, and although she vowed to keep her life as separate from Jackson as possible, her children miss their dad and beg for the chance to spend some time with him upon his release. Daphne is more than a bit reluctant, with memories of the verbal, mental, and physical abuse her family endured still fresh in her mind, but she feels she cannot deny her kids the opportunity to see their dad, so she gives in. But once she spends some time around Jackson he APPEARS to be a changed man...and wants to lure Daphne back into his bed. Will her dark and disturbing relationship past be enough to keep her away from Jackson's arms...or could she fall BACK under his spell?
And then there's Daisy Ann, a woman out seeking revenge of her own...for the murder of her late father. Daisy is a successful business owner now, but she hasn't been able to overcome the loss of her beloved dad...and KNOWS in her gut that his 'accidental' hunting death was far from an accident. Though the evidence has never emerged to prove anything conclusively, Daisy Ann hasn't given up hope that all will be revealed and the party who is TRULY responsible will be brought to justice. And it just so happens that this woman MAY be incredibly wealthy and prominent in Bishop's Harbor...at least, for now. When this suspect ends up poised to take away Daisy's company, WHO will end up with the spoils? Will Jackson's release allow him to FINALLY catch up with BOTH of his 'loves'...and will he finally get the chance for revenge HE has been craving? Or does Amber have ONE final trick (or perhaps, rare and expensive diamond) up her sleeve that will secure her wealthy future...forever?
I think it's fair to say that although The Last Mrs. Parrish has been far and away Liv Constantine's most popular book, with a Reese's Book Club nod, film rights snapped up by Netflix (after an earlier planned TV adaptation was scrapped), sisters Valerie and Lynne (better known by their collective pen name, Liv Constantine) hadn't anticipated their cat and mouse thriller about a scrappy and sneaky young woman who plans to steal a wealthy man away from his wife and become a socialite herself to NEED any sort of continuation. After all, the first book in this series came out in 2017 (!) and having moved on to several stand alone thrillers since then, I figured that Amber and Daphne's story had reached a fun, popcorn worthy conclusion, and that was that.
But as Lenny Kravitz is quick to remind us....it ain't over till it's OVER. And in the case of Daphne and Amber, much to my own surprise, I was THRILLED to discover that their cat and mouse tale was FAR from finished...and that the presence of a new player would up the ante like NOTHING I'd read before!
Okay, okay, so at its heart...this is still 100% a popcorn thriller. I'm not going to pretend that enjoying this book doesn't require the following:
a) willing suspension of belief
b) capacity to handle reading toxic characters (and sometimes even having empathy for said characters)
c) a dose of patience to get you through the slower (and occasionally repetitive) portions
BUT if you have those qualities and want to dive into a beachy, salacious, sneaky, and occasionally twisty domestic suspense read...this IS your kind of book. As much as I sometimes tire of the 'rich people behaving badly' trope, for some reason when it came to Jackson and Amber in this book and its predecessor? It just didn't bother me. While Daisy Ann might not have been the most scintillating character to read, particularly in her early chapters, the Sisters Constantine never force you to plow through TOO much of any one character's thoughts in her books. The plot is convoluted enough to be interesting but straightforward enough to follow even if you're watching the kids over the top rim of the book while relaxing by the pool. (Not speaking from personal experience this time...but can you tell I'm jonesing for my first poolside read?) The short chapters certainly aid with pacing, and one of the best things about this level of popcorn thriller is that while you CAN think long and hard about what could happen?
It is FAR more exciting to do exactly what you do at the beach: switch your brain to a 'lower' setting and just BE.
Did I want to find out what was going to happen? Sure. But I think why this book was such a relief for me mentally when I read it was that I didn't fixate too hard or speculate too intensely about ANYTHING, and to be honest, that's what made it a better read for me. While I enjoy Liv Constantine, I rarely go into their books expecting to be blown away or looking for the twist that reads like no other. The fact that these authors even waited so long to dive back into these stories sort of says it all: the original story didn't NEED a sequel....but like eating that last Milano in the wrapper just so you can throw out the little paper and that last cookie won't be lonely...it didn't HURT anything and it was ABSOLUTELY satisfying!
And you know how sometimes you see the calorie count on a menu for a really decadent dessert, know it's probably the worst thing you can do for yourself while generally trying to be healthy, and you know you don't need it whatsoever...but you just can't HELP but order it and then you're secretly SO glad you did?
Let's just say the revenge in THIS book? Is twice as sweet and decadent...and as Hitchcock so wisely noted, isn't fattening at all.
4 stars

I remember really enjoying the first Mrs. Parrish books, so I was excited to see what the second book would be about. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the sequel. It felt like a very unnecessary story that didn’t need to be revisited. The characters are all awful people and I couldn’t help myself from not caring about these rich people and their problems. It was hard to get through the story because there wasn’t really someone to root for. There are two characters that are supposed to be the reader’s favorites, but it was very obvious while reading that they’d end up fine. I’d only recommend this book if you were dying for a sequel to the first, otherwise, just skip it. (2.75/5)

The Last Mrs Parrish is one of my all time thriller faves so I wanted to love this one much more than I did. I’d give it a 3.5 I’d half stars were allowed…definitely better than a 3. Maybe my expectations were too high but I just felt like I waited and waited for some great plot twists to happen and they never really did. The characters were not likable and not even fun to hate like in the first one. I’m glad others have lived and rated it highly because like I said I wanted to love it and feel guilty not giving it a higher rating.

I'll admit, I was surprised that this turned into a series because I felt book 1 wrapped up pretty nicely. I was really excited to get more of the story! And beyond thankful to get this ARC!

I could not get enough of this book! Although I did not read the prequel Novella, I did read the original book prior to reading this book and writing this review.
Although the chapters have longer in this book, I felt like the detailing was just the same as the previous novel, the characters were the same as when I first met them, and I felt like I was reading a book written from a long lost friend.
Although this book is not my favorite of the series, I did enjoy it. Highly recommend this book, I know I will be reading it again!

Published June 18th! An instant NY Best Seller, with no surprise! A 5 star suspense/thriller read! Author Liv Constantine doesn’t disappoint with this amazing and thrilling “can’t put down” novel!
I highly recommend getting involved in the storyline of Amber, Daphne and Jackson, it will take your breath away!
Love to hate! Crazy Jackson! and sweet Daphne!
Amber is BACK and crazier than ever! Obsessive, compulsive and utterly full of herself! She’s out of love… a seething thief who’s ready to leave the country, but has to dig her claws into “Daisy Ann”. ( intro new character)… before she can leave with her head held high, or so she hopes!
Jackson, released from prison, a changed man (or is he), realizes he is over Amber and wants Daphne back but can he get her? A wild, suspense filled perpetual thrill of a ride as his sick mind does what it does to get what he wants!
Daphne, my heart and soul aches for her pelted persona as she tries to keep her girls safe from their demented father but Tallulah, (teenager) has something else in mind!
Sweet Bella is her mother’s saving grace but will it be enough ?
It’s a sit on the edge of your seat novel, with anticipation & shock! I loved it, the good, the bad, the ugly, the ending was picture perfect! Classic!
I highly recommend this novel even if you haven’t read its precursor, “The Last Mrs. Parrish“ yet, it’s an amazing standalone and it’ll make you wanna go back and read the first one!

Daphne is free of her ex-husband Jackson and living her new life in California with her 2 daughters. All is seemingly well at first, but her eldest daughter greatly misses her father and finds a way to contact him, ultimately creating tension with Daphne until she agrees to go back to Bishop Harbor for summer break and to allow supervised visits. Jackson is now out of prison and has zero desire to remain with power and money hungry Amber, and wants to get back with Daphne, claiming to be a changed man. The story continues with betrayal and duplicity, and two incredibly unlikable characters.
I read the first book a couple months ago and really enjoyed the continuation of the story and the personal development of Daphne.
Spoilers below***
The justice served to both Amber and Jackson was the ending we were all hoping for! Jackson once again circumvents charges against him and thought he was in the clear to continue harassing Daphne, but sustains an injury from a past associate he previously betrayed and now is living his worst nightmare with “locked in syndrome” where he has his full mental capacity but can no longer physically move and her fate is left to Daphne. Amber thinking she got away with murder, again, and is about to leave the country to live her best life funded by Jackson’s stolen assets. She has her bail posted by the same associate who attacked Jackson, the same person he stole the 3 pink diamonds currently in her possession. Justice served!

4.25 stars. After The Last Mrs. Parrish, I didn't really see the need for a sequel. However, I ended up really enjoying this story. I enjoyed that it added to the story instead of just being a repeat of the previous book. It wrapped up that character's stories nicely.

In true Liv Constantine fashion, the Next Mrs. Parrish is an absolute page-turner. This story pickes up about a year after the Last Mrs. Parrish ends. Similar to The Last Mrs Parrish, the Next Mrs. Parrish is full of twists, turns, and secrets that will keep the reader going until the very last page.

I didn't like this one as much as everyone else. I loved the first book, but this one seemed way too over the top for me, and Daphne's storyline gave me way too much anxiety to enjoy my reading experience.
I'm not sure I really needed a book two featuring these characters. I will admit that I didn't read The First Shot which is a prequel featuring Amber's past, and I probably should have because it sets up the background for this installment. However, I think enough information is given, so if you missed it like I did then you'll get the gist. You do need to read The Last Mrs. Parrish, because otherwise you'll be quite lost.
This book reads like a soap opera. The drama is incredibly over the top and you have to suspend disbelief to read the entire thing. Daphne is the only character I liked, but even she made some stupid decisions. Based on her past experiences with Jackson, I didn't expect her to be so naive to his scheming. And Tallulah was just a full on brat, let me tell you, if my ex husband was such a horrific person that he locked me in a mental institution against my will, I don't think I'd be keeping it a secret from my bratty child.
There were also some awkward time jumps that jarred me from the narrative, and things that these "crafty" characters should have seen coming from a mile away.
That said, this book is definitely soapy rich people drama and if you like that kind of thing you'll love this book. If you read it for what it is and don't expect too much, you'll be satisfied.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I read the first book in the series in 2017 so I wanted to read the prequel and then re-read "The Last Mrs. Parrish" before I started this one because I couldn't remember all the details. There were recaps and nods to the original throughout the book so you could have read this as a standalone, but I think it really helped reading the other two books first to fully understand what was happening in this one and the extent of the relationships.
What I really loved about this one was that Daisy Ann (from the prequel) was a character that had a role in this book. It really added so much to the storyline. No spoilers, but the ending was perfection!!!!
Definitely worth the read :)

I was so excited when I learned there would be a sequel in the Mrs. Parrish series. It was worth the wait. I read it in 24 hours because it was so good. I don’t want to give anything away to those that haven’t read, but this is a book where you can’t easily guess the ending. Netflix or AppleTV make this into a series.

THE NEXT MRS PARRISH was a huge improvement from THE LAST MRS PARRISH. The first book didn’t quit hit for me so I was pretty apprehensive going into the sequel. If you go into these books knowing that almost everyone will be insufferable….. you’ll enjoy them a LOT more. i loved the multiple POVs in this book because they are all connected and everyone’s secrets and motives all tie together. this book is messy, messy, MESSY but it makes for a perfect poolside binge for summer.

Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way. Hard work and immaculate planning turned her from invisible wallflower to prominent socialite, though there have been bumps along the way. Less than a year after her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber reigns supreme over the Bishops Harbor community. But with Jackson being released from prison, Amber’s free time—and money—is vanishing.
Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer for their daughters’ sake. Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.
When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, these three figures find unlikely allies in one another. But who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.
I loved this book. It was amazing the schemes the rich folks came up with to get what they wanted. I loved Ambers determination but loved Daphne and what she was willing to do for the sake of her kids.
It was a good read. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to reads early version!!

I enjoyed this one just fine. It moved along, was not a deep think and would make a good vacation read.

The Next Mrs. Parrish had more twists and turns than a country road. This is a must-read from Liv Constantine.

I am failing to understand why this book needed to be written. The allure of the first Mrs. Parrish book is that it was the first of it's kind. The psychological aspect of the husband being one way in public and one way behind closed doors was so new at the time it was written. However, once it's been explained, though, the story needs to be over. Daphne going back really made no sense from an adult stand point. It's unbelievable. The games Jackson played were not that different from the first go round, and then the "escape" was rushed. Everything wrapped up with a pretty bow. Lots of "twists" that needed to be explained because they were so out there....I am also not convinced this was written by the same authors that wrote the first two. Their quality of work is decreasing with each subsequent published book. I think this is where I part ways.

Amber and Daphne Parrish are back! When Jackson is released from prison, no one is safe. Add in someone from Amber's past looking for revenge, you have a page-turning book you will not be able to put down! What a beautiful cover, kudos to the artist!

This is the sequel to the Last Mrs. Parrish and this book pick up where it left off. Amber and Jackson Parrish are back and just as despicable as ever. The former Mrs. Parrish Daphne has moved with her daughters to California and is trying to start a new life far from Bishops Harbor. Her oldest daughter Tallulah is missing her father and willing to do anything to be with him again, forcing Daphne to move the girls back to Bishops Harbor to be closer to their father. Has Jackson really changed and deserves a second chance with his family?
As much as I hated Jackson and Amber in the first book, I love the introduction of new character named Daisy Ann. Daisy Ann is a smart, strong, spunky, take no shit woman seeking vengeance for her father's death. As Daisy Ann and Daphne's paths cross will they both get the retribution they deserve?
I wasn't sure what direction the second book would take and almost didn't read it, but I am glad I did. The author does an excellent job of tying up loose ends and giving the readers closure.
