I remember enjoying the first installment of this series but felt this next one was unnecessary. It was nice to see old characters but there was zero growth in the majority of the cast (ie all the villains), so it was not very interesting because there was little character development. It was more of the same.

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine begins with the epigraph: “Love all, trust few, do wrong to none.…” William Shakespeare.
For readers who enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish, in this new novel the Parrish wives (Daphne #1, and Amber #2) intersect again, as they parry and feint in their dual quests to outwit and prevail over their sociopathic ex-husband/current husband, Jackson.
Current wife Amber is the master manipulator who has produced a son, little Jax. She enjoys her social status in wealthy enclave, Broken Harbor, but is running out of funds as Jackson is still in prison. Daphne is happy in California, far away from her abusive ex, Jackson, with their daughters Tallulah and Bella, until Jackson sweet talks Tallulah into wanting to get to know her father better. So Daphne reluctantly takes her daughters back to Bishop’s Harbor for the summer.
The third wronged woman in the story is Daisy Ann, daughter of Amber’s first husband, who died under mysterious circumstances. While none of the three women like each other, they are unanimous in their dislike of liars, cheaters, and Jackson Parrish!
The plot lines that follow each female protagonist are well-articulated and come together nicely in the end. The main characters, to me, were all unlikeable, because of amoral behavior or weakness in the face of obvious threats of danger to self or children. The action moves along well enough to keep me engaged to the finish.
It is fun to follow the exploits of characters from the previous novel as they connive or try to survive in the world of Jackson Parrish. The ending of this domestic thriller hints at more to come!

Thank you to Bantam Books and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my unbiased review.

If This author writes it, I'm gonna read it! I am obsessed with Liv Constantine's dark and twisted thrillers! The Last Mrs. Parrish is one of my all time favorite thrillers and one of my go-to recommendations. I was so thrilled to see that there would be a sequel. I definitely recommend reading The Last Mrs. Parrish first because starting with this would reveal some of the plot twists in the first book. However, it has been years since I read the first book and there was some good information to refresh my brain at the start of this.

This book also focuses on Amber and Daphne (the last and current Mrs. Parrishes) Amber is social climbing and manipulative. She and her husband have a son together. Daphne left town with her daughters and swore she'd never come back. However, her daughters miss their father very much. Daphne agrees to a trip back for them. Also entering the mix is a new character named Daisy Ann. who is looking for revenge. It was very interesting to see how all of the stories tied together.

I enjoyed this book so much! It was fast paced, suspenseful, and full of plot twists! Everyone has secrets and nothing is what it seems. What a wild ride! I can't wait to see what this author releases next! The story seems to end with a possible book three, so I'd be really excited for that!

This was even better than 'The Last Mrs. Parrish! HIGHLY recommend as the perfect summer read.

In this highly anticipated sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish, Daphne is living in California, far away from the nightmare she was forced to live in Connecticut while married to Jackson Parrish. But Daphne is raising two preteen girls who want to be able to spend time with their father. Meanwhile, Amber Parrish is happily running the show in CT while Jackson is finishing his prison sentence for tax evasion, until she checks the bank account and realizes that the money is running out. Amber, the greedy gold digger that she is, will stop at nothing to get all of Jackson’s money- and then some. But when someone from Amber’s past comes into the picture, things get a lot more complicated for her than she anticipated.

This book is a wild ride full of manipulation, lies, backstabbing. It seems as though everyone is deceiving one another and it’s impossible to know who you can trust, all the way to the very last page. This book was definitely bingeable and will be the perfect summer poolside read: bad, rich people doing bad, rich people things. Everyone is trying to have the upper hand throughout the story and I couldn’t wait to find out who would come out on top.

Daisy Ann was a great addition to our already insanely wild cast of characters from the first book in this series. Throughout the story, the authors really do a great job of making the reader feel very strongly about the main characters- I especially felt disgust toward Jackson and Amber. I feel like the authors do a great job bringing these characters to life and making you understand their outrageous feelings and motivations. For example, how Amber perceives Daisy Ann as a villain… Daisy Ann is just a victim, right? The only thing I like about Amber is her love for her office library.

Cons:
-I noticed inconsistencies with points of view, switching from first person to third person.
-Especially in the “Amber” chapters, I found a lot of repetitiveness from chapter to chapter. I lost track of how many times she mentions having the gems stashed away in case of an emergency and how mad Jackson would be if she were to take his son away from him. I felt like it was pretty redundant to keep bringing up these two things in successive chapters.
-It seems that our main characters are traveling throughout the country constantly, it was hard to keep track of who was where at times. They’re all rich and able to just bop around from one part of the country to another, a lifestyle I am clearly not accustomed to!

Somehow I missed that this was a sequel. Don't worry. They cover the entire first book. What you have is a trio of women who are all trying to ruin one or both of the other for a variety of reasons. All of those reasons revolve around the men in their lives. It was very much like reading an 80s night time soap. It was satisfying at times.

No place does manipulative backstabbing drama quite like Bishops Harbor! Once Jackson, Amber, and Daphne are all back together things immediately get twisted and ugly. Everyone knows who they are up against and what they are capable of but this time around there is a new character with a seat at this very dysfunctional table…Daisy Ann!

Daisy Ann brings an extra element of intrigue and mystery that I found to be an excellent addition to this cast of already well known characters. Amber and Jackson are just as selfish and narcissistic as ever and Daphne is forced to deal with them in her life because of her daughters attachment to Jackson. She does her best to protect her daughter while also honoring her feelings but when things start to get bad she is prepared to do whatever she has to in order to keep them safe.

Amber, Jackson, Daphne, & Daisy Ann are compelling characters that will have you feeling all the feels (both good and bad)! This follow-up to the first book is a satisfying end to the insanely crazy web of lies and revenge that the author has been building upon from the beginning!

I enjoyed all parts of this book! Such a great sequel. I love reading books that hook me in and this was one of those for me!

If ever a sequel was described as delicious, this is the one!
Amber Patterson Parrish has returned, and she’s worse than ever. In this sequel, the battle between good and evil takes a delightfully trashy turn.
Amber is out to rob her deeply horrible husband blind and fly the coop. Meanwhile, Daphne, the sweet and abused first Mrs. Parrish, has her own plans. Add in a shady diamond dealer named Mr. Stones, and you’ve got a recipe for deliciously twisted drama.
With shocking turns and entertaining characters, “The Next Mrs. Parrish” will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal. In my opinion, the sequel is better than the original!

Whew! What a sequel!!

Amber, Daphne and Daisy Anne, three incredible women each in their own way and I for one was thankful for Daphne and Daisy Anne balancing out the horrible character of Amber.

Of course there is controlling Jackson who gets out of prison and is right back to his manipulation and lies. Did Daphne mess up by returning to Bishop Harbor in the hopes of helping her daughters see him for what he really is?

Excellent writing, it would take a lot to be able to write such a despicable character for me and it’s definitely achieved in this book.

Lots of action and things going on, pulls you right in and keeps you guessing! Had to keep reading to know what would be next and how this roller coaster would end!!

Definitely recommend!!

I enjoyed this book and was on the edge of my seat at times. I didn’t love the addition of a new character Daisy Ann. The chapters alternated between Amber, Daphne and Daisy Ann. This book could have been shortened with less chapters of Daisy Ann. It’s been years since I read the first book in this series so I appreciate the flashbacks of the first book throughout this book to help remember. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read The Last Mrs.Parrish!

I read the first book of the series so long ago, I did not remember a lot of it until I got into this story.
This was fine, there were a few stories at the crux of the book, and I was eagerly reading so someone could get their comeuppance.
As I mentioned, it was fine. I would suggest that you reacquaint yourself with the first book before reading this one.
Thank you to @netgalley for the advance copy.

Really enjoyed this book. I love their writing style and it keeps you going and saying one more chapter. I’ve read everything they have written and it’s all great. This is the sequel I needed

I was so excited to read on about the Parrishes from one of my favorite books from 2022. Getting this book on NetGalley made me extremely happy. This book really held my attention in the same way that the first book did and every time I got to open it, I did not want to put it down! The addition of Daisy Ann’s POV was super compelling and I think her interweaving storyline really enhanced the book. I enjoyed also getting to see the Parrishes children more throughout the book as well. I think that one of the reasons this book is so intriguing is the vileness of the characters, just when you think they cannot do anything worse, they do!!! Wow, Amber and Jackson are certainly two peas in a pod. Their propensity for revenge is crazy.

My only gripe with this book is that the ending with Jackson seemed rushed and not well thought out, it did not really make sense to the storyline and just seemed like a quick way of writing him out (though the endings with Daphne, Daisy Ann, and Amber were great). I thought his ending lacked intentionality and felt like a fever dream while reading this part. Additionally, I did not feel as though this book was necessarily needed to wrap up the first book, though I very much enjoyed getting to read on about the characters’ lives.

In a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish, we alternate between Amber, Daphne, and Daisy Ann (it will be clear who she is early on)‘s perspectives as we see Amber scheme for revenge and Jackson out of prison. Daphne finds herself unwilling drawn back into this world for her daughters’ sake.

This one didn’t have the same twist as the original which I was waiting for. It was definitely slower partly I think because it was just so much abuse and bad (with Amber and Jackson). I don’t regret reading this but it definitely didn’t have the impact the first one did.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

★ 4.5 Stars ★ Pub Date: June 18
I was so excited to find out there was a sequel to "The Last Mrs. Parrish," one of my all-time favorite books! When the publisher offered me an advanced copy of "The Next Mrs. Parrish," I was over the moon!

The setting of part of the book is in Gunnison, CO, just 60 miles from where I live. That makes the book even more captivating! Even though it's not necessary to read the previous books, "The Last Mrs. Parrish" and "The Last Shot," I strongly urge you to do so. "The Last Shot" is a novella, and "The Last Mrs. Parrish" is absolutely amazing!

"The Next Mrs. Parrish" is an addictive mix of thrilling and scandalous, like a soap opera on steroids. It's a fast-paced, page-turner, dripping with indulgence and allure. The characters are deliciously devious, and the plot is packed with jaw-dropping twists and turns. While the ending of "The Last Mrs. Parrish" was satisfying, I was left yearning for some serious comeuppance for Amber, that conniving she-devil. Especially now, with her sweet little Jax in the picture, I can't help but worry about him being swallowed up by her web of lies.

And don't even get me started on Jackson's return after his stint in prison. That slimy snake deserved to rot there! While "The Next Mrs. Parrish" might not quite reach the same levels of intricate intrigue as its predecessor, I found every scandalous moment utterly captivating, and the ending? Pure perfection!

Thank you to the authors and BantamBooks/Random House for this ARC. All opinions are my own and left voluntarily.

I am so glad the story was continued. Sadly Daphne still falls for Jackson's sneaky antics. None as bad as in the first book but still frustrating. Good resolution for the characters. Some good twists/reveals at the end.

THE LAST MRS. PARRISH was one of the first books I read & loved when I was getting back into reading 🩵

I decided to read the prequel (THE FIRST SHOT) right before reading THE NEXT MRS. PARRISH, and I’m glad I did because it gives Amber’s origin story & it helped refresh my memory! Plus, the crime Amber commits in the prequel plays a role in one of the revenge plots in this book 👀

I loved the multiple POVs from the three women (Amber, Daphne, Daisy Ann) and seeing how their paths crossed. Amber is still very unlikeable (shocker 😂) and I liked that I was familiar with Daisy Ann because she was introduced in the prequel.

Liv Constantine wrote another suspenseful domestic thriller filled with revenge and twists 👏

I flew through this one and would highly recommend reading it if you loved THE LAST MRS. PARRISH! But even if you didn’t read book one, the authors provide enough context for you to be able to read and enjoy this one as a standalone!
