The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine is a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish, which I read in 2017 and very much enjoyed. Both books are psychological thrillers, and while it helps to read them in order, it isn't mandatory. There is enough callback in the new book to allow new readers (or those, like me, who can't remember the particulars of the plot after 7 years) to jump right in.

I'm thinking, however, that my tastes have changed quite a bit over the last 7 years. I've never been a huge thriller fan, but I now look for more nuance in the characters and more sophistication in the plot, and this one didn't meet my expectations.

Both Amber, whose husband, Jackson, is just out of prison for tax evasion, and Jackson himself, have absolutely no redeeming qualities. There's nothing they won't do to get the things they feel they rightfully deserve, regardless of whom they have to demolish in the process. One one hand, I have to admire the authors (two sisters) for creating characters that are so easy to hate and capable of totally stressing out the reader, but on the other, it just seemed too easy. Jackson's ex-wife, Daphne, just wants to keep Jackson out of her life, after he maneuvered her into being institutionalized for fraudulent reasons and terrorized one of their daughters about her poor reading skills. Why, then, did she naively get involved once again when her older daughter wanted a relationship with her father? There is one person I could root for, and that is Daisy Ann, who was not in the previous book. She is single-minded in her quest to prove that Amber killed her father, and she is not above using devious ways to achieve her goal I enjoyed Daphne's two daughters as well.

It all seemed too familiar, too predictable, and at times too repetitive, so I won't be looking for the next sequel, if one is planned. However, I will definitely consider a different type of book from these talented authors.

My thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC! I was really curious to read this after reading the first and see how the story could continue. The author does a great job making Jackson and Amber the worst characters that you’re actively rooting against. I thought Daphnes storyline was interesting (although a lot of similarities to the first one) and while Ambers provided something different, it did at times feel like two different books. Overall I’d say this is a 3.5 and if you enjoyed the first one it’s worth giving it a read!

I was so excited to see there was a sequel to the The Last Mrs. Parrish! I was actually surprised to see that there was a sequel to the original, since the first book didn't have any "loose ends" and came together well. This pace of this book was riveting, intriguing ,and not as predictable as one might think. I throughly enjoyed this sequel, and it definitely was just as good as the first book. Amber and Jackson are still just as conniving and deceiving as ever. The ending absolutely did NOT disappoint! This is a must read!

The Last Mrs. Parrish (Book #1), was the book that got me back into reading in my adult life. It's still one of my favorite books to date. Naturally, I was so excited to hear that the sequel was coming out, and eager to read where the plot would be taken.

As I was reading The Next Mrs. Parrish, I realized that a second book in this series wasn't totally necessary. It was a lot of the same behavior from the same characters (except for our one new perspective - Daisy Ann - which was a nice touch) and it got to be a bit repetitive. There's usually a very distinct moment in psychological thrillers where you know it's heating up and starting to get interesting, and that did not happen until 77% of the way through.

This book did have a satisfying ending (as did the first one), and was a great way to wrap up the story of Jackson, Daphne, Amber and everyone else involved!

2.5 stars - I was happy to reconnect and be back in the world of the characters.

Thank you, NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC copy of my honest opinion and feedback!

This was such a wild ride!

Amber and Jackson are back with their devious plans to destroy people who hurt them while Daphne is trying to keep her daughters safe.

So many things happened and I was so very nervous about the ending.

I didn’t need to worry though! That ending was crazy! I didn’t see any of it coming especially the last page. It was extremely satisfying.

Make sure you read the prequel before this one. It really goes full circle with all three books.

Huge thanks to Netgalley for my copy!

This book was fantastic! It’s told in pieces from the perspective of Daphne, Daisy Anne and Amber. At first I wasn’t sure how Daisy Anne fit into the mix but wow! The twists and turns were phenomenal! I could not put this book down! Although I will say the Daphne storyline gave me such anxiety! That just proves what a great book this was!!!

DON'T SKIP THE FIRST SHOT. Yay! My first ARC & I'm so excited it's the sequel to one of the books that got me into thrillers. Thank you!! I was a little worried going into this because I was like 'How could the story be continued?' But that's why I'm the reader, not the author... Cause boy did that story get continued.
I think I liked this one more than the first one, which was tough to beat. I still find myself thinking about it at random times 8 months later. There really was twist after twist with this one!! You also got to see the characters really grow into themselves (Um Amber chill, but don't actually I love it). I don't want to accidentally give any spoilers because you gotta read this for yourself so I'll leave it at that!

This was a terrific sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish. It was definitely an edge of your seat, page turner. The main characters have all returned, and I enjoyed reading more about Jackson and Daphne’s daughters. If you enjoyed The Last Mrs Parrish, you are certainly in for a wild ride with this sequel!

I was THRILLED when I saw I received an ARC via NetGalley. I loved the first book so much I was so excited to read the sequel.

Amber, Daphne and Jackson are at it again. Their sneaky and manipulative ways keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus, a new character, Daisy Ann….

Thrillers like The Last Mrs. Parrish don’t often get sequels so I was skeptical at first, but I found myself really enjoying this story. This fast-paced novel kept my attention and had me wondering who would come out on top. While I enjoy reading about smart female characters, I did find myself annoyed at Daphne for some of the ridiculous decisions she made, but alas, without these poor decisions we wouldn’t get a sequel. If you enjoy thrillers and enjoyed the first book, you will be happy with the sequel.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGallery for this eARC.

This book had my heart spinning. I was very very mad at Daphne for putting herself and kids in danger because her kid was being a brat. The whole time I’ve been screaming, don’t do it you dumb idiot. Thank goodness for the strong female characters who helped her make her getaway. Meredith and Daisy Ann, you wonder spoiled rich women! Also ugh Amber you horrible human. I’m glad you got what you deserved.

Very slow to start, but the book really hooks you in close to the middle.

I was excited to see the sequel to The Last Mrs Parrish up for request and asked for it right away! I was nervous I would forget what happened in the first one, but the authors make sure to cover that. We're reintroduced to Daphne and her daughters (who have since moved to California) and awful Amber. Jackson is about to get released from prison for tax evasion and Amber's money is slowly running out. Daphne and Jackson's older daughter has no idea the true history of her parents' marriage and runs away to try and see her father. Daphne agrees to fly back to the East Coast for the summer so the girls can see their father. She has no idea that she will soon be thrust back into a devious scheme by Amber and Jackson which will jeopardize her freedom and new life she has so carefully built.

I enjoyed this book, not as much as the first one, but it held my interest and had some nice twists. We got to learn more about Amber's past and how she became the person she is today. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher!

This is a book I didn't know I needed! A third episode in the Mrs. Parrish saga that ups the ante of the twists and turns of the first two books. This is one I wish I could go back and reread for the first time, and I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up. Extremely well written, with every string tied up neatly in the end, this is a MUST read for anyone who loved The Last Mrs. Parrish.

A unique type of book - multiple sociopathic leads and lots of revenge - so much revenge!! Layered plot, switching narrator, but easy enough to follow. The question all along- will Jackson and Amber get their comeuppance? I enjoyed this fast-paced novel via ARC from NetGalley. I would recommend this title.

Another fun ride with Liv Constantine. I loved following the stories of Daphne, Daisy and Amber/ Lana oh and Jackson too.

There was so much double crossing it made my head spin.

I’m so glad the original story continued in this book and…possibly further? The ending was solid but definitely open ended so it could totally continue but was satisfying “as is” as well.

Jackson was legit the worst kind of person. Amber continues with her awful antics as well and wins for the most selfish character ever put on a page.

I loved how Daphne gained strength and confidence since the last book. That scene on the beach totally broke my heart IYKYK.

I also enjoyed the interconnected vibes in this one.

I for sure recommend this one. It’ll be a great way to kick off your Spring / Summer reading.

Liv Constantine does it again!!! The suspense in this book was off the charts. Jackson, Daphne, and Amber are back, and the high stakes drama picked up right where it left off. Loved the writing, loved the pacing, and was blown away by the wild ending. An extremely well-done sequel!

Fantastic follow up to The Last Mrs. Parrish! The twists and turns kept me excited throughout the book and the chapter cliffhangers were well executed as you flip POVs. The book is packed with storylines and complex characters. Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing - Ballantine for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 5/5!! This book picks up right where The Last Mrs Parrish leaves off, without missing a beat. I was immediately immersed with the characters once again. I gasped, my stomach dropped and I had genuine fear and anxiety for Daphne. Just feeling all the things over here! Well done @livconstantine2 this was absolutely fantastic 🖤 https://www.instagram.com/p/C5Hti_tryoQ/?igsh=NzNtenJoYnRua21i
