Plot- or character-driven? Plot
Loveable characters? Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
This installment of the series was such a delight. It was fun to get to know some favorite side characters even better while Finlay and Vero are up to their typical shenanigans. As always it was witty, ridiculous, hilarious, and somehow relatable.
Thank you to Net Galley for the audiobook!

I still very much enjoy this series. Especially the audiobooks.
They feel at times like a soap opera. Since there is always something happening, and most of it is a bit over the top but the books are also very entertaining and never boring.
The audiobook was really well done, especially the narration kept me glued to the book and I actually finished it in one day, from morning to evening. It was a fun read!
AND, there is no end in sight.
The relationship between Finlay and her detective is looking great. They are on solid footing.
Finlay and Vero are still going strong. It's the kind of bestie friendship we are probably all looking for.
And I'm glad Finlay is putting down her food when it comes to her looser exhusband.
I also appreciate that many of the open questions have been answered. It feels like a new plot arc might be coming.....
So it was very much what I was expecting from this series. The author delivered a wonderful new edition. And I'm here for more...

This is the forth installment in the Finlay Donovan series. I’ve read the other three, so I was so excited to revive this ARC. The same silly entertaining shenanigans with a new and exciting setting of Atlantic City. I love how all the characters came together including her mom, ex, Nick and others on this trip. The story line was far fetched with a bunch of coincidences , but that is generally the series. Got lost a little bit with all the different turns. Fun read and left the door open for the next book.
The narrator was perfect! She was able to do other voices without sounding too corny.

When Finlay and Vero are going on a road trip to Atlantic City with Finlay’s two kids, her ex and her mom, you know it’s going to be a good time!
I loved the fourth installment of this series, just as much as the previous books. I loved the banter between all the characters and the chaos. This was just so much fun!
I listened to the audio version, and the narrator does an exceptional job.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of the audiobook.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, the 4th in the Finlay Donovan mystery series, by Elle Cosimano, narrated by Angela Dawe, is an absolute rollercoaster of a listening experience. Alternating seamlessly between laugh-out-loud moments and nail-biting suspense, this audiobook keeps you hooked from start to finish. The dynamic duo of Finlay and her partner-in-crime Vero embark on a wild adventure in Atlantic City, using a girls' weekend as a cover for a high-stakes mission to negotiate with a dangerous loan shark, save the guy that broke Vera’s heart, and recover a stolen car.
The plot twists and turns as the stakes escalate, with Finlay and Vero juggling dead bodies and a cast of meddling characters tagging along for the ride. The narration by Angela Dawe brings the characters to life with wit and charisma, enhancing the already captivating story.
Elle Cosimano's writing is sharp, witty, and utterly addictive, making this series a must-listen for fans of suspenseful mysteries with a dose of humor. (I received an advance reader copy of this book, and all opinions are my own.) Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a thrilling addition to the series and I am eagerly anticipating the next installment.

This was another great read! I love this series and all the crazy things that happen. I hope this turn this into a mini series. It will be so good.

This book releases March 5, 2024. Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the audiobook ARC of this book.
I always love when another installment of this series publishes. It's like waiting for the next season of a t.v. series. I've listened to Angela Dawe narrate this series since book 2 and I wouldn't have it any other way. Her voice acting is ingrained in my brain for the characters now. She is fantastic and I'm so glad they chose her again for this book.
Book 4 takes off right from the events of the previous book. If you are worried you need to reread, I don't think that is necessary. The events are summed up well as we go to jog your memory. If you haven't read any books before this one, I highly suggest you do. I don't believe this book is one that you can jump into without the background of the first three.
This one brings us to a whole new location, Atlantic City, NJ. All the shenanigans now take place in a Hotel and Casino setting. Think of a miniature Vegas.
I felt like this one had constant action and so many struggles for Finlay to work through, with some help from Vero of course.
I appreciate that most of the intimacy in this series is “fade to black”. She hints at things but there is very little “spice”. I do feel like there are more innuendo and adult jokes in this one because of its setting, which I personally don't particularly care for, but I know that's the sense of humor other readers might enjoy more.
Going spoiler-free. The ending is worth it! Finlay uses all her casino knowledge of “poker faces” and “tells” to outwit the bad guys. I truly did not see the events that unfolded coming!
Overall, this is another fun and enjoyable addition to the series. I can't wait for book 5 and what Finlay gets into next!

This is the best Finlay Donovan book so far. I feel like this gets back to the heart and soul of what made the first book such a downright delight to read. I am so excited that Angela Dawe returned for this installation. I laughed, I cried, I dramatically gasped. I loved this book. I love these characters. I was so scared that this could be the last Finlay Donovan book, or worse, that the story would begin to feel stale or overworked. But never fear because while many loose ends were so satisfyingly tied up but of course, it wouldn’t be an Elle Casimano story without a fresh jaw-dropping cliffhanger at the end…

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up right where book 3 left off with Finlay and Vero setting off on a "girls getaway" to Atlantic City in pursuit of their illegal hijinks... with Finlay's two small kids, mother, and ex-husband in tow. Their party is soon crashed by Finlay's newly minted beau and his police and FBI entourage, and everything gets that much stickier.
The pacing of this book was fantastic. The reveals, laughs, and plot twists were plentiful and wonderfully placed. I love the way Elle Cosimano blends humor and mom life into this accidental life of crime that Finlay has fallen into. It's escapist fiction at its finest. Is it entirely realistic? No. Do I care? Also, no, I'm too busy enjoying the ride! And from the mild cliffhanger ending, it looks like there may be more Finlay and Vero adventures to enjoy.
The audiobook is narrated by Angela Dawes, who has done all the books in the series. She does a great job portraying the different characters. The pacing and clarity was great, even listening at my usual 2.5x speed.
Huge thank you to Macmillan Audio for gifting me with an ALC to review! All opinions are my own. I loved it so, so much!

Another fun, entertaining, and hilarious adventure of Finlay and her partner in crime Vero. This is the fourth book in the series and picks up right where book three left off. While technically this could be read as a stand alone I highly recommend reading the prior books in the series or you will be missing out! It's packed full of adventure, mystery, suspense, family drama, romance and comedy. I really enjoy this series and never want it to end!
I listened to the audio version and would also give 5 stars for the narrator. Angela Dawe does a great job and kept me hooked from the very beginning. The narration made the book enjoyable and I found myself listening any chance I could get.
If you haven't read this series you are truly missing out!
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Finlay and Vero’s antics and dialogue continue to make me giggle and I stand by the statement that the audio is the best way to consume these books. Angela Dawe’s narration is top notch and I love the voicing she does for all of the characters. I like where the plot went in this installment of the story and have no idea where it is going from here. I hope we can trust Elle for a happy ending in the end and am looking forward to the next book.
I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
Content Notes: Fade to black, innuendo/crass jokes, some strong language

Finlay and Vero and everyone else in their universe hit the road for the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series. The formula remains the same - It’s Finlay and Vero against the world - mobsters, police, ex-husbands, and other miscellaneous obstacles. There are dead bodies, kidnapped love interests, missing fortunes, and hijinks galore as our unlikely heroines set out to untangle yet another mess they find themselves in.
Elle Cosimano has hit on a formula that works and she continues to execute it with hilarity and just the right amount of tension. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice keeps the series fresh. Who knows what’s next? I can’t wait to find out.
Thanks yo NetGalley and Macmillan Audio of this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Ahhhhhh the girls are back and this time they are in one of my favorite places - Atlantic City!! I am a huge fan of gambling and while Finlay and Vero did anything BUT I still enjoyed the two navigating through the casinos and through the streets of AC.
•
Finlay and Vero are on a vacation with literally everyone, including Finlay’s ex, her mom, her new boo and sister, talk about awkwardddddddd. I was actually cackling out loud through so much of this book. I seriously think Vero and I would be the best of friends because she just has the darkest humor and absolutely no filter - its me hi!! I love her so much.
•
I flew through this one, it was witty and suspenseful and I loved the entire story from start to finish. I love how the ending of this one lets you know that once again this duo will be back!! If you’re looking for a fun, quirky, witty, suspenseful and (even) cozy series - look no further. I am obsessed and will be recommending this series forever.

Thank yyou netgalley and Macmillan audio for the free alc . This is a fun series but definitely feels like it's going off the rails a bit. Not sure if I will continue to read.

ROAD TRIP!!!!
Finlay and Vero are back! I love this hilarious duo and they are in some trouble again 🤣
They plan a girls trip to Atlantic City but it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush and hunt down a stolen car. It isn’t all fun and games but there were so many LOL moments in all the chaos. I loved the setting and how all the characters were along for the ride!
I listened to the audiobook and I absolutely love the narrator Angela Dawe . She really brings the story to life!
This was a fun fast-paced mystery that you won’t be able to stop reading! It is the fourth book of the series and picks up right where book three left off!
Read if you enjoy:

This may be my favorite series. It's excellent, funny, screwball comedy.

This is a nice continuation of the Finlay Donovan series. The first book began with an interesting plot bringing together Finlay and Vero, her babysitter who becomes so much more. Neither one of them has expected where this partnership would take them. Their wild new life continues on in this book.
If you haven't read the first three books in the series, I think it would be difficult to pick up this one as your entry into Finlay's adventures. But do yourself a favor and go and get the other books in this series, you'll be glad you did!
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I struggled. I was so excited for it as I loved books 1-2. Book 3 wasn’t as great but I was hopeful for this new book. I haven’t been able to finish it. (83%)
There are a few things that turned me off: #1 fin’s romance. She can have a boyfriend but I was tired of hearing about her throbbing loins and how weak in the knees she was as he bit her panties. Gross. I don’t read smut and romance for several reasons and was annoyed it crept into this series. #2 while the previous stories were any exactly plausible this was over the top on over the top. It kept taking me out of the story with how unbelievable it all was and the endless convenient coincidences.
#3 Vero is usually my favorite character I love her snark and personality but she was very muted and at times a sad puppy. It was disappointing
I don’t think I’ll read more in this series but will definitely recommend the first two!
Thanks anyway!!!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC! The Finlay Donovan series is one of my favorites and this entry did not disappoint! Finlay, Vero, and the extended crew are back again for more hilarious hijinks, this time in Atlantic City. This series is the perfect balance of mystery, humor and authenticity. I love the characters so much, and that sentiment doesn’t wane as the cast continues to grow.
This felt like somewhat of a conclusion to the current saga/prominent storyline but by no means a conclusion to the series. I loved the way things wrapped up and I’m beyond excited to see what Finlay, Vero and the gang get into next. This is a must read series, and this installment is excellent! As usual, Angela Dawe does a phenomenal job with the narration!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just when I think this series can’t get any better! Finlay Donovan is coming into her own for sure and I’m here for all of it! The friendship between Vero & Finlay is probably my favorite part of this whole series. Lots of great characters in this latest installment. Even Kevin Bacon!
