I had a blast with this one. Riley Thorn, the reluctant psychic, and her PI boyfriend Nick are back—and the chaos is next-level. There's a well-dressed corpse in the closet (classic!), hilarious senior roommates, glitter bombs, and enough quirky banter to keep me laughing nonstop. The mystery kept me guessing, the romantic tension was sizzling, and the whole vibe is delightfully absurd and cozy. It did feel a tad long in places and got a bit wild with characters, but that’s exactly part of the charm. Perfect escape if you're craving laughter, romance, and paranormal whodunit all rolled into one.

This series is great! This book has enough humor, mystery and witty banter to even everything out. Riley’s quirkiness is the best! Not a lot of books have made me literally LOL but this one definitely did a few times

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an ARC copy of The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score. I completely enjoyed The Dead Guy Next Door and although this book was cute, It fell a little flat for me. I did enjoy the banter between the main character, Riley Thorn, and her love interest, Nick. And even though I didn't like it as much as the first, it was still a light, fun, read that was full of antics and hilariousness. I'd give it 3.5 stars rounded up to a 4.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Another hilarious installment of the Riley Thorn series! This time her cranky, scary grandmother, Eleanora Basil comes for a visit. She isn’t happy with the progress that Riley is making with her psychic abilities so she starts up a boot camp for her in addition to her trying to solve a murder! In this installment, Riley is helping solve the murder of a wannabe influencer who truly was a piece of work!
I am in awe of where Lucy comes up with all of these over the top shenanigans, she truly is a genius when it comes to writing all of these laugh out loud moments. I am addicted to this series! I love Gabe, Burt, and Riley's crazy family. Nick’s uptight family. The banter between Nick & Weber. I am here for all of it! I would love for this to be made into a movie/series!!!
Read this series if you love Finlay Donovan and Stephanie Plum series!

Continuing this series did not disappoint! You just can’t help but love each and every character. The mystery was intriguing as always. Loving this series!

While i did think this was better than the first book, this series is unfortunately one that leaves my brain as soon as i finish the book :/ I like the dynamic of the main characters and i always appreciate witty, fun banter, but I don't think I'll be continuing.

I am really enjoying this series. These characters are so much fun. The mystery is light, the plot is full of fun, over the top antics and Riley and Nick have great chemistry.
This is book 2 in the Riley Thorn series and involves Riley acting as a civilian consultant for the police to find a killer, glitter bombs, internet trolls and a body in the closet.
I can't get enough of Riley, Nick, spiritual guide Gabe, the farting dog and Riley's octogenarian crew.

I read the 1st book and was so excited to jump this one next. I love this series so much! The dynamics of the main characters is truly amazing. I love the romcon mystery series! I am diving into the next book as fast as I can!

Is dark humor considered a snack? Or not…
Lucy Score weaves a beautiful story in this novel, even most men who have read it feel that the characters drive the storyline.

I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley.
Lucy score is amazing and incredible I would read anything by her. This one was different because it was kind of a mystery. But I did enjoy it.

DNF at 55%... This is not at all a reflection of my love for Lucy Score because trust when I say I LOVE that woman. Her newer work always hits for me, but because this was a re-release of an older title of hers, I just didn't connect with it as well. The storyline, the characters, the writing style itself, none of it hit for me like I wanted it to. There was nothing specific that I blatantly hated about it, it just didn't spark any sort of emotion or response from me, leading me to discontinue it. I don't think her older writing is for me and that's ok because I love her newer stuff with my entire heart!

I DNFed the first book, so I will not be reading this one. I apologize to the publisher for not continuing the series.

The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score is a delightfully quirky and darkly funny mystery that will keep you guessing while also offering plenty of laughs along the way. With her signature wit, charming characters, and clever plot twists, Score crafts a compelling story that combines murder, mayhem, and a whole lot of heart.
The story kicks off with a bang when amateur sleuth Cassidy, an out-of-place small-town librarian, stumbles upon a shocking discovery—a dead body stuffed in the closet of her new (and less-than-ideal) apartment. Naturally, Cassidy, ever the problem-solver, is not the type to let a little thing like murder get in the way of her day. She teams up with the brooding and reluctant local detective, Nate, who has his own reasons for not trusting Cassidy’s sleuthing skills. But together, they’re forced to confront not only the body in the closet but also the bizarre secrets lurking in their town.
What makes The Corpse in the Closet such an enjoyable read is the perfect balance between suspense and humor. Lucy Score has a knack for creating characters who feel real, even in the most outrageous situations. Cassidy’s awkward but endearing nature is a joy to follow, and her dynamic with the no-nonsense Nate is filled with tension, banter, and plenty of chemistry. The way they work together—despite their contrasting personalities—keeps the plot moving at a brisk pace, while also providing plenty of comedic moments.
The mystery itself is tightly constructed, with layers of secrets, clues, and red herrings that keep you turning the pages. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out, Score throws in a curveball that leaves you second-guessing everything. While the stakes are high, Score never lets the tone become too heavy—there’s always a light-heartedness in the air, whether through quirky side characters or Cassidy’s hilarious inner monologue.
The Corpse in the Closet is a perfect blend of cozy mystery and comedic romance, with a dash of small-town charm and a sprinkle of dark humor. Fans of witty, character-driven mysteries with a hint of romance will absolutely devour this book.

I love Lucy Score books. This Riley Thorne series is the perfect mix of humor, murder mystery, and eccentric lovable characters.

This is a book that I, unfortunately, instantly forgot as soon as I was finished reading it. That is not a reflection of it's quality. I did thoroughly enjoy every minute of my reading experience. It was fun, even though I was very annoyed by the main character's boyfriend. This is a book you can jump into without any context from the previous Riley Thorn novels. I was surprised at how much fun I had in this world with these characters.

ahhhh lucy! i have loved all of her books. i was quite happy to receive an arc from her!! i wasn’t disappointed at all. not my favourite but i liked it!

I'm loving the Riley Thorn series! Honestly, Lucy Score's writing is so fun and keeps me hooked in whatever book of hers I'm reading. I didn't love this one quite as much as the first in the series but I still enjoyed myself so much! There are so many quirky and unique characters that are just so entertaining and keep me laughing. I'm so excited to continue reading this series and see how Riley evolves.

If you're looking for a fluffy hilarious read with a bit of spice, this is your book! I had a great time and can't wait to continue with book 3.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another great book by Lucy Score. It was funny and witty and if you looking for a change, I recommend checking this one out.

Love Lucy’s writing and all the Harrisburg vibes of the story. Witty, playful, and full of heart, I’d recommend this series to all my girlfriends!
