After reading the Knockemout series, I knew I had to get my hands on Lucy Score's backlist. I assumed that all of her works were romance, and I was surprised to learn she also wrote cozy mysteries. This was my first read in the Riley Thorn series, and while it was perfectly fine to read this before reading book #1, I do recommend reading Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door prior to picking this book up, as many plot points are discussed in this book.
The cast of characters in this series is just plain delightful. Our FMC Riley Thorn comes from a family of psychics, and she is in the process of developing her psychic abilities. Our MMC Nick Santiago recently left the police force to start his own private investigation business. With his detective skills, Riley's psychic abilities, and the foundation of their romantic relationship, they make the ultimate private investigation team.
When Riley is called upon to help the local police force in a murder investigation, Nick goes into protective boyfriend mode while her grandmother begins putting her through a spiritual bootcamp of sorts to help her hone her psychic abilities. Both lead to laugh-out-loud mishaps that will keep you wanting to read more.
If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, I cannot suggest this series enough!

Lucy Score is an amazing author and she did it again with this book! The character development was fantastic, they kept you guessing and entertained. There’s a lot going on within the story! From mystery/suspense and romance. It’s a bit of everything in one book. This is book number two of four from a series! Definitely read the first book before starting this one.

The Corpse in the Closet was a great, fun, entertaining mystery with romance type read. I have to be honest, I didn't know this was part of a series when I picked this book up. Yes there are definitely details (and there are many characters) which would have likely made more sense if I had read the first book. That being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the story. I loved the quirkiness of Riley and her family. The fact that everyone essentially fears her grandmother, with the exception of her boyfriend, had me smiling and chuckling on many instances. This story brings together two separate mysteries/cases and ties back to Riley's previous work at Channel 50 - this is likely where having read the first book would have helped, but I wasn't overly confused. The banter between Riley and Nick was great - their chemistry was next level and the psychic imagery/visions were a really fun element to the story. I'm someone who typically reads thrillers/suspense but I enjoyed this lighthearted mystery as a way to still use my brain to figure out what's going on but not have it be so dark that it disrupts my sleep. I would definitely consider reading the first and subsequent books in this series.

The Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score is hilarious! This is the second book in the series. Looking forward to the next book.

Overall 3.5⭐️
Thank you NetGalley, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and Lucy Score for allowing me access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second books in the Riley Thorn series and I think it was a good follow up to the first. It picks up right where the last book left off and leads into another murder mystery that Riley and Nick need to solve. This book is a cozy mystery/romcom mystery which is not usually my favorite but it was very enjoyable. I would and have recommended to my friends that love those genres.

The Corpse in the Closet is the second book in the paranormal mystery romance series by Lucy Score.
This second book picks right up after the first one. Riley Thorn and her Private Investigator boyfriend Nick Santiago have moved in together in the overcrowded mansion turned rooming house with their senior neighbours.
After nearly losing Riley during their last case, Nick is determined to keep her safe and far away from danger but it seems like a nearly impossible tasks when Riley agrees to be a civilian police contractor using her psychic abilities to help solve cases.
Ashlie glitter bombs and a constant interruption to their love life, Riley and Nick are pulled into another series of adventures and mishaps….discovering their love for each other along the way.
This was another fun instalment of the series and I really enjoyed it. Riley and Nick’s chemistry and banter are off the charts and the cast of quirky characters keeps the book light and fun and a quick read! Another 4 star read for me!

Thank you so much @sourcebooks, @netgalley and @scorelucy for the ARC copy of this book. I am DEVOURING Riley Thorn! I am seriously in love with this character! This is the second book in the series and I just want more and more! The banter that Riley has not only with Nick, but also her family and friends is just hilarious. I want to live in the old crazy mansion and take yoga with everyone.
This series is PACKED with humor, crime, mystery, and glitter.

Lucy Score has me in stitches once again! I am loving this series so far and can't wait to get through the rest.
This is the perfect book/series to give you a lighthearted feel but also mixed with some drama and a lot of humor. Nick and Riley's banter is top notch and they always have been cracking up. I really enjoyed seeing Nick get into a relationship after saying for so long that they weren't for him. Riley is doing more to tap into her psychic abilities and that has been super fun to watch happen. We have all of the same fun characters from the first book and some extras added in. Riley's grandma is something else for sure and it was great to get to see Nick with his parents. The mysteries told in this story will keep you on edge but they aren't told in such a dark way that you feel like you are in a legit thriller book. I love how Lucy Score can have both humor and drama and make it fun. This really is a refreshing romance book where it's not only focused on that part but even though it doesn't it still gives full romance vibe as we watch Riley and Nick's relationship progress. I can't wait to read the rest!

I absolutely adore this series. I binged this entire book on Saturday while it was raining, and it was the perfect way to be unproductive. I just love Lucy Score and her fun stories. This will be the perfect beach read this summer!!

Lucy Score is my idle. Everything she writes is a masterpiece and this was no exception. I look forward to picking up the next Riley Thorn novel.

I was over the moon happy to have had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of a Lucy Score novel. Thank you SO MUCH, Sourcebooks, for providing me with this ARC. 😊
This captivating, cozy mystery is sure to keep readers engrossed from start to finish. The story follows Riley, a private investigator with a 'dormant' psychic ability, and Nick, a homicide detective, as they work together to solve a murder case. When Riley's grandmother arrives to encourage her to embrace her powers, she is unexpectedly pulled into the investigation...
Although this book differs somewhat from the author's previous works, it is just as good as her other books. While incorporating some romantic elements, it primarily falls under the mystery/thriller genre. The characters are wonderfully developed, and readers will quickly form a connection with them. The plot is intriguing, and there are even some humorous moments that will leave readers chuckling.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining, engrossing read. 4ish stars! ✨

Lucy Score does it again. Funny and Witty but also detail oriented and mysterious. Lucy Score is always an immediate easy recommendations to any reader friend!

I LOVE THIS BOOK! The characters are absolutely fantastic and incredibly relatable. Plus, it's hilarious! It definitely deserves to be turned into a rom-com movie!

Lucy Score's "The Corpse in the Closet: A Riley Thorn Novel" picks up right where the first book left off, delivering another delightful dose of humor, mystery, and romance that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end.
Returning to the charming world of Riley Thorn and her eclectic cast of characters feels like reuniting with old friends. From Riley and Nick's endearing relationship to the quirky residents of their shared home, every character adds depth and humor to the story. The addition of new characters, such as Riley's grandmother and Nick's parents, further enriches the narrative, providing fresh dynamics and opportunities for growth.
What sets this series apart is its perfect balance of laughter, suspense, and heart. Score masterfully weaves together witty dialogue, engaging mysteries, and steamy romance to create a truly addictive reading experience. Whether it's trying to solve a case or navigating the complexities of family relationships, Riley and Nick's adventures are always entertaining and full of surprises.
As someone recovering from wrist surgery, I can attest to the therapeutic quality of these books. They're like a warm hug wrapped in humor and excitement, providing the perfect escape from reality. And just like Riley, readers will find themselves laughing, cheering, and eagerly turning the pages to uncover each new twist and turn.
Fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series will feel right at home in Riley Thorn's world. With its lovable characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and addictive mysteries, "The Corpse in the Closet" solidifies Lucy Score's place as a master of cozy murder mysteries. I, for one, can't wait to see where Riley's adventures take her next!

A very quirky, campy mystery featuring a psychic and some romance. I did not read the first book in this series and felt a little lost with all the characters. There was a huge part of the book where the plot just inched forward while we followed Riley around being a poor communicator with Nick. I wish this had been more focused on the case. It seems like they were going for fun/funny/ridiculous and it just wasn’t my favorite vibe. I don’t think I’ll continue with this series.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book was even better than the 1st. The ending definitely has me excited to read the next one.
Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom books and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review

Following the events of book 1 Nick is rightfully guarded when his ex partner comes knocking looking for Riley to help on a case. While Nick and Riley test the boundaries of their new relationship mayhem around them ensues. The cast of characters in this series is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Loud, overbearing, a little bit ridiculous, and all around lovable. The type of found family you’d never imagine but would do anything for.
Dual POV, Romantic Suspense, Found Family, Jealous MMC, He's Her Boss, Whodunit

This is a captivating cozy mystery that will keep readers entertained from start to finish. The story revolves around Riley, a private investigator with a dormant psychic ability, and her love interest, Nick, a homicide detective. When Riley's disapproving grandmother arrives to pressure her into embracing her powers, she finds herself reluctantly dragged into a murder investigation. The victim is a well-dressed corpse discovered in a walk-in closet, and Nick needs Riley's help to solve the perplexing case. Meanwhile, Nick is preoccupied with a missing person case and the pressure from his parents to meet his live-in girlfriend. Riley's involvement in the investigation adds to his stress, as he fears for her safety. As the body count rises, the meet-the-parents dinner becomes a disaster, and their elderly roommate engages in peculiar mime-like antics, the story takes a hilarious and suspenseful turn. Riley must confront her ex-husband and his new fiancée, who become suspects in the investigation.
The novel's strength lies in its well-developed characters. Riley is a relatable and endearing protagonist, while Nick is a charming and supportive partner. The supporting cast, including Riley's grandmother and their eccentric roommate, adds a touch of humor to the proceedings. Score's writing is witty and engaging, drawing readers into the story from the first page. The mystery is well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the very end. The blend of mystery, humor, and romance creates a delightful and entertaining read.

Great read, loving this series so far. Two great main characters and a cast of quirky side kicks. Can't wait to read the rest of new series.
