Sparks fly as Riley Thorn and her private investigator boyfriend, Nick Santiago, navigate a sizzling summer filled with family drama, murder investigations, and a touch of the supernatural. With Riley's disapproving grandmother in town, a demanding homicide detective seeking her help, and Nick juggling a missing person case and parental pressures, the couple's relationship faces its toughest challenges yet. As bodies pile up and tensions rise, Riley and nick must race against time to uncover the truth before Riley become the next victim.

I adored the characters in this book, especially Riley and Nick. Their dynamic is perfect - who doesn't appreciate a slightly overprotective partner? The addition of a psychic main character was a unique and fascinating twist that added an extra layer of intrigue to the story.

The roommates in this book were a riot! Lucy Score's vivid descriptions brought them to life in such a way that I could picture them perfectly. Reading about them felt like watching a hilarious sitcom unfold, and I was constantly surprised by their antics.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It offered a refreshing departure from the typical romance novels I'm accustomed to reading from Lucy Score. I highly recommend it to fellow readers!

A superb mystery romance.
Riley and Nick's story is epic.  A super insane, funny, sexy, keep you on your toes, fun kinda book. And I loved every second of it.
The main characters and subcharacters are absolutely fantastic. Super hilarious and down to earth with some crazy mayhem to even then out.
Riley and Nick go from dating to working together at his PI gig. Searching for answers to his cases. Having Riley use her psychic abilities to aid them. Needless to say their job doesn't get done as easily as they like. It becomes chaotic and scary while being hilariously eventful.
If you love psychics, mysteries, hot tangles in the sheets (and elsewhere), entertaining characters and a storyline that will keep you guessing and laughing. Then this is definitely for you.
Don't miss out on this book!

This is the first installment of this series that I’ve read and I’ve kind of jumped in the middle 😉 I am a fan of this author- first of all and I love murder mysteries 😱 in general, so I enjoyed this book. I am a fan of Riley and Nick ❤️ their chemistry is great! This book is filled with great banter that had me laughing out loud 🤣 however, the book ends with a cliffhanger 😳 but there was a short snippet of Book 3 at the end and I cannot wait to read ☺️ (after I back track to Book 1 😉). If you are a fan of murder mysteries or just great, laugh out loud characters, the I’d recommend reading this series.

Riley Thorn is back, and this time, she's not just dodging rogue furniture (thanks, dead guy!), she's dodging bullets too! This sequel to "The Dead Guy Next Door" is a hilarious whirlwind of murder, mayhem, and meddling relatives. This tale is like if Nancy Drew grew up, moved to a small town, and started binge-watching sitcoms.

If you're looking for a mystery that will tax your brain cells, this ain't it. But if you want a laugh-out-loud good time with characters who are endearingly chaotic, then "The Corpse in the Closet" is your book. Just be warned, you might snort milk out your nose during a particularly sassy psychic vision or a mime-related shenanigans.

Arc received from the publisher; all thoughts and opinions are my own. i have purchased my own copy.

The Corpse in the Closet is the second book of this series by Lucy Score. This book was originally published in 2021 but was just re-released this April.

Let’s talk about the positives of this book. It’s fun and quirky at times. If you like books like Finlay Donovan, you may like this one. It’s a mystery with a psychic detective and features everything from spite cows to hot spirit guides. You’ve got a zany cast of old roommates and overbearing psychic grandmothers.

Parts of this book just bothered me though. Riley’s boyfriend, Nick, hot PI, and her now-boyfriend and employer irks me in this book. In the first book, we find out he slept with basically every woman in the town including Riley’s mom’s cousin. Then in this book, he flips out when he finds out Riley once dated his brother-in-law. He moves them in together without consulting her. Nick puts trackers on her phone and car without asking or telling her. Creepy.

And the banter while sometimes funny is sometimes, so stupid! I kid you not, and I quote:

“This body isn’t meant to fall through the roof with a penis inside of it.”

“Stay away from my vagina. It got a workout last night.”

All in all, The Corpse in the Closet is a fun and light, quirky mystery novel that you may enjoy.

Thanks to the publisher for the digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Lucy Score always gives a fun read. I have read her Knockemout series so diving into the mysterious Riley Thorn series was a treat. I loved the characters plot and laughs. It was like a Nancy Drew but for my grown up heart. So fun fun!

This is such a fun, cute, and quick read! This book is quirky, chaotic, the banter is top notch, and it is an amazing palette cleanser between the heavier fantasy books I've been reading lately. I love the cast and crew in this story; they are so likable and outrageous, it makes this book such a fun experience to read! Lucy Score is a literary genius, she can write the true, the steamy, and now the funny and hilarious!
I loved this, and would definitely recommend it for an entertaining read this summer!

Can she write banter…or can she write banter. Lucy Score 👏🏻. This book played out like a Rom Com movie inside my head. I have thoroughly enjoy joining the adventures of Riley Thorn and Nick Santiago. The books side geriatric side characters - hilarious and quirky. Both Riley’s and Nick’s families - laugh out loud dysfunctional and funny. While I enjoyed the mystery in The Dead Guy Next Door this series is the perfect blend of mystery and romance.
I will be eagerly wanting to finish off this series just to consume more of Lucy Score’s writing.

In this delightful sequel, Riley Thorn and her detective beau, Nick Santiago, navigate a whirlwind of hilarity and suspense. Their lives could be more exciting, with Riley's psychic prowess drawing unwanted attention and Nick juggling a perplexing case. The plot thickens with a murder mystery that pulls Riley into the fray despite Nick's protective instincts. Adding to the chaos are family dynamics, an enigmatic elderly roommate, and comedic mishaps. The story blends humor with intrigue, keeping me hooked from start to finish. The characters are endearing, and the storyline is brilliantly crafted, making this book a unique mix of genres.

Lucy Score was responsible for my reintroduction to the romance genre and for that, I can never skip over one of her books! This is a different type of romance that I normally don't gravitate towards but I love the series! It is a fun paranormal with great side characters, which Lucy always perfects.

I absolutely adore Lucy’s writing. Her books are always so captivating and leave me wanting more.
Being the second book in the series, I loved being able to follow Riley and Nicks journey as a couple. As well as being able to learn more about Riley’s gifts and all the good she can do. Granted she still fights with the fact she is a psychic, but I hope within the next book we’ll see her come more to terms with it!

This is the second book in this series; while you don't need to read the first one but I recommend it! I started this and stopped to read the first and I am so glad that I did.

I love all the characters in this book! Riley is such a strong women with everything she has been through and the trials that she continues to face. Nick is such a great supporter for Riley and I love them as a couple! Riley has psychic capabilities that run in her family and Nick fully supports and accepts all that comes with it. He does not like that she is willing to work on another police case after the first one ended badly.

I definitely recommend reading this series! I cannot wait to see what is next for Riley, Nick and the rest of the characters!

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and author for my ARC!

4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Okay, this series is everything!

It's such a cozy, good time, and I just want to keep reading the rest of the series. There's romance, but it's so much more. It's like a chaotic, comedic murder mystery. I said it before, and I'll say it again: it's like if you're reading a Brooklyn 99, Superstore, even Happy Place type of book. The characters are so wacky but good-hearted.

NICK SANTIAGO is 💯. Like, common!! If Lucy Score writes all her men this way, I am going to be reading everything she ever wrote.

My only complaint is that it's a bit long. These books don't have to be 500 pages long. So at many times, it dragged, and it took me longer than I would have liked to finish. But apart from that, the dialogue and banter are HILARIOUS. I can't emphasize this enough. It totally worked with my type of humor. I'll definitely keep reading on because that cliffhanger! I must know about Beth!!

I didn’t realize this was the second book in a series initially. lol oops. Luckily the book is written in a way where I don’t think it was entirely necessary. Lucy Score does a good job on recapping the last book and introducing characters. I will now read the 1st and the 3rd book prior to the 4th coming out this summer!!!

I really enjoyed this whole book! Riley is a psychic learning to use her powers. All the women in her family are psychic but they each have unique powers. In book 1, Riley helps solve a murder and so the police are consulting her on a new case. Her boyfriend Nick Santiago is a private investigator who hired her to work with him. They live in a mansion with a group of 80 year olds who are delightfully weird. Their families are a little cooky but lovable. Overall it gives sitcom vibes, which are truly my favorite vibes. I gave this a 4/5 because it took until about 30% for me to really get into the book. Once I passed that mark I finished the book in two sittings.
