This was such a fun read! I really enjoyed the mystery vibe through it all, and the comedic relief was great.

Lucy Score is an interesting writer for me.

The wittiness and writing prose is really fun to read. Lucy Scores books are very fun and easy to get engrossed in. Sometimes, I struggle with the characters. I know many people love them, but they don't fit my preference as well and can sometimes be difficult to root for. This book was a lot like that. That being said, everyone can appreciate the super fun read with clever writing and witty banter.

It wasn't for me but rated it higher because that is a personal preference, not a statement of quality.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

The second book in the Riley series. Her grandmother wants to know why she doesn't take her psychic powers seriously. She also has to deal with her ex and his new gf. Her private investigator bf has to deal with romantic questions from his parents who REALLY wants to meet her. Add murder on top of that and it's a busy time for Riley.

Lots of fun moments. I really like Riley and Nick. Terrific characters and zany plot. Love this series and it just better with each book.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC**

Riley Thorne is a psychic with a handsome PI boyfriend. This is a cozy mystery with a bit of spice. There’s a serial killer and tons of love able side characters that kept my interest

New favorite series alert!

Once again, Lucy Score has written a joyful novel starring Riley Thorn. The reluctant psychic, with a knack for stumbling upon dead bodies and a hot PI boyfriend, is the star of the show, but all of the side characters are just as quirky and wonderful. From octogenarian badass Mrs. Penny to the gentle giant maybe-human Gabe (who just wants to eat ice cream) to the over-the-top psychic grandma Elanora, each character elevates the story and adds to the sheer ridiculousness.

There's a serial killer. There are glitter bombs. There are terrible human beings. There is, of course, a dog named Burt with horrific farts. And throughout it all, Riley and Nick develop their relationship and grow in their love for each other. They may never be able to have sex, but they love deeply and fiercely, which adds gravitas the story.

I will say that this story is NOT a romance; I would dub this a cozy mystery with romantic (and romantasy) elements. If you are expecting a typical Lucy Score romance, this isn't it. But that doesn't stop this from being pure fun.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for a ecopy of Corpse in the Closet by Lucy Score.

Unfortunately I dnf at 65%. (My first ever DNF)I have similar thoughts on the characters in this book to the knockemout series, and that is that they are so very childish. And unlike knockemout, Corpse doesn’t have the broody appeal of Knox and Lucien to keep me going.

The Mmc was just plain irritating and boring. We get it, Riley has nice boobs and you’re always horny. I don’t need to read it every few paragraphs when they’re together. And to top it off you’re trying to convince me he’s a successful PI but he gives off freshman who should be working at a Dairy Queen 🫣

This was just a big miss all around for me and has me wondering if I actually like Lucy Score or just the visuals from a couple of her characters.

This book wasn't for me. I didn't really connect with the characters. I found this book to be slow. It took me a long time to get through it. I finally finished and was ready to move on to something else.

I freaking love Lucy Score for giving us the absolute delight that is Riley Thorn!

I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I loved all the quirky twists and turns as Riley, Nick and the whole whacky cast of friends and family tried to figure out what was going on and how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. At times I was literally laughing out loud at the insanity. I don’t know how Lucy does it but she creates such a wild and vivid storyline! 🤩

My thanks to NetGalley for making an eARC of this book available to me.

Highly entertaining, this book is just as much fun as the previous one. By turns hilarious, frenetic, and crazy. The families of both Riley and Nick are equally insane, as are her octogenarian next door neighbors and their co-workers. Lots of laughs, lots of fun.

Contemporary romantic comedy murder mystery with a bit of spice and the paranormal. Well written with fun banter and situations. This was a great follow up to the first book (even though they are standalones I recommend reading them in order). Looking forward to reading the next book!

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Time to celebrate because the whole gang is back! Riley and Nick are still a hilariously quirky duo and manage to get into even more over-the-top entertaining situations. Making things more complicated? The arrival of Riley’s grandmother, Elanora, who insists on things being her way or the highway. Lucy Score has created such an epically brilliant cast of characters in this series that if I had the chance to pick a fictional crew from any book to sit down and share a meal with…it might just be this one. Did I love the first book? Yes? Was it possible to love this one even more? Absolutely!

If you need an escape from reality, if you want entertaining antics, awesome banter, fantastic humor, fun mysteries, and a quirky but loveable cast of characters, then this is the book for you. I laughed myself silly while loving the crazy chaos that unfolded in Riley and Nick's lives. Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet was a hilarious delight and I had a blast reading it!

I was so excited to dive back into this world. The gangs all here from the first book plus some new ones too and I enjoyed them immensely. I loved all the different scenes and scenarios they created as well as some really priceless one-liners. There were so many great setups that had me laughing, I couldn’t get enough. Of course, there were some characters that stressed me out, so much so that I totally wanted to yell at them. Nick’s parents and Riley’s grandmother are something else and I liked the dynamic they created and I loved Nick’s attitude with them. I liked the mysteries being investigated, they were exciting and entertaining. I loved the building details and the hints and connections taking place as everything started to come together.

As far as the romance goes, this is a continuation of Nick and Riley’s happily ever after and how they're navigating this new phase in their lives. I loved the chemistry and playfulness between them. I loved Nick’s dry humor and Riley’s quick wit mixed in with just the right amount of sarcastic banter. It was great to see how much Nick has grown and how Riley is embracing her psychic side. They have a few bumps along the way but they're all light and fun and had me smiling. Nick and Riley trying to connect (wink!) over the course of the story had its own special slow burn happening that had me laughing out loud.

Everything wrapped up nicely and there was a great part at the end that already has me excited for the next book in the series. I can’t wait! This story had me grinning from beginning to end. Just to add, there are a lot of references to the first book in the series so if you haven't read it, I don't feel like you'd be lost reading this one. That being said, I'm all about reading in order so you definitely don't want to miss Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door.

I found myself unexpectedly underwhelmed by the Corpse in the Closet. Surprisingly, it took me days to complete, a duration far beyond my usual pace for any other books. + the book could have been shorter ;-:

This series has exceeded my expectations, by a lot! It’s so much better than the blurb prepared me for. I love all of the characters so much, particularly the main characters. The mystery part of the books is great and the romance and humor are perfect. Looking forward to the next installment.
