Need a fun escape read? Get ready to laugh your sox off with this one! The publisher's blurb covers the basics, and there really is a plot beneath the quirky characters and the hilarity. Enjoy!
I requested and received a temporary EARC from SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books/Bloom Books via NetGalley. Thanks!

Contemporary romantic comedy murder mystery with a bit of spice and the paranormal. Well written with fun banter and situations. This was a great follow up to the first book (even though they are standalones I recommend reading them in order). Looking forward to reading the next book!

Thank you @netgalley and @sourcebooks for the eARC of The Corpse in the closet by @scorelucy in exchange for an honest review.
The Corpse in Closet (Book 2 of The Riley Thorn series)

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Time to celebrate because the whole gang is back! Riley and Nick are still a hilariously quirky duo and manage to get into even more over-the-top entertaining situations. Making things more complicated? The arrival of Riley’s grandmother, Elanora, who insists on things being her way or the highway. Lucy Score has created such an epically brilliant cast of characters in this series that if I had the chance to pick a fictional crew from any book to sit down and share a meal with…it might just be this one. Did I love the first book? Yes? Was it possible to love this one even more? Absolutely!
4.5/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you need an escape from reality, if you want entertaining antics, awesome banter, fantastic humor, fun mysteries, and a quirky but loveable cast of characters, then this is the book for you. I laughed myself silly while loving the crazy chaos that unfolded in Riley and Nick's lives. Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet was a hilarious delight and I had a blast reading it!
I was so excited to dive back into this world. The gangs all here from the first book plus some new ones too and I enjoyed them immensely. I loved all the different scenes and scenarios they created as well as some really priceless one-liners. There were so many great setups that had me laughing, I couldn’t get enough. Of course, there were some characters that stressed me out, so much so that I totally wanted to yell at them. Nick’s parents and Riley’s grandmother are something else and I liked the dynamic they created and I loved Nick’s attitude with them. I liked the mysteries being investigated, they were exciting and entertaining. I loved the building details and the hints and connections taking place as everything started to come together.
As far as the romance goes, this is a continuation of Nick and Riley’s happily ever after and how they're navigating this new phase in their lives. I loved the chemistry and playfulness between them. I loved Nick’s dry humor and Riley’s quick wit mixed in with just the right amount of sarcastic banter. It was great to see how much Nick has grown and how Riley is embracing her psychic side. They have a few bumps along the way but they're all light and fun and had me smiling. Nick and Riley trying to connect (wink!) over the course of the story had its own special slow burn happening that had me laughing out loud.
Everything wrapped up nicely and there was a great part at the end that already has me excited for the next book in the series. I can’t wait! This story had me grinning from beginning to end. Just to add, there are a lot of references to the first book in the series so if you haven't read it, I don't feel like you'd be lost reading this one. That being said, I'm all about reading in order so you definitely don't want to miss Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door.

I found myself unexpectedly underwhelmed by the Corpse in the Closet. Surprisingly, it took me days to complete, a duration far beyond my usual pace for any other books. + the book could have been shorter ;-:

Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet was an amazing, beautifully written read that was filled with incredible characters and hilarious moments. I more than loved it! Hilarious, cute, light -- everything wrapped in a perfectly written book!

This series has exceeded my expectations, by a lot! It’s so much better than the blurb prepared me for. I love all of the characters so much, particularly the main characters. The mystery part of the books is great and the romance and humor are perfect. Looking forward to the next installment.

Love this series have read them all and they never disappoint. Love the mystery with the little bits of romance. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
This is officially my favorite Lucy Score series! I can’t wait until the next one.
Not only is Riley just a down to earth relate-able character, but so is the whole cast. Except maybe Gabe who is seriously inhuman, but in a good way! Also is anyone else dying to know what Riley’s middle name is? It better be good!
In this installment we follow Riley and Nick as they investigate 2 murders and a disappearance. Are they all related? And if so how? Riley is having to deal with all this while dealing with the fact that her grandmother is in town and forcing her to take her psychic “training” more seriously.
This book will make you laugh out loud! From Burt’s gas and Miss Penny’s shenanigans you will enjoy this from start to finish.
5/5 stars and I will definitely be recommending this to everyone!

This book was such a fun read for me!! I will automatically read any Lucy Score book- read this in just one sitting it was so entertaining and had me hooked.

I didnt realize this was the second in a series but that was okay! I loved this book! It was hilarious and the chaos that unfolded the whole time was magic! There wasn't a dull moment the whole book and I was so appreciative for that! If I could have, I would have finished this book in one sitting! Nick is very dreamy and Riley is one of the most unique FMC I have read in a long time! I will for sure going back to read the first one in this series! And then maybe it will be time for book three which was set up beautifully!! So excited! Thank you for this NetGalley and the publishers!

I didn't realize it, but I actually read this book a year ago and adored it. This is the review I published for the book in 2023.
** spoiler alert ** I am loving these books! They're so funny and witty, and the relationship between Riley and Nick is so sweet and hilarious.

I'm so happy to be back in the hilarious world of Riley and Nick! I loved this book just as much as the first and I can't wait to see what shenanigans Riley gets up to next.

This series is everything! I have never found a series before that makes me laugh as much as this one while still having a captivating plot and perfect romance. The best way that I can describe it is a rom com sitcom mixed with mystery/detective work. It is amazing!
Riley is a perfect heroine and I love her relationship with Nick. He is super overprotective and brooding and she brings out such an amazing side to his character. He is even surprised how warm and fuzzy he feels around her. It was also fun watching their love grow in this second book.
This series has the best side characters that I have ever “met”. Seriously, Gabe? Riley’s family? Mrs. Penny? Perfection!

Updated review - April 2024
The second release of this is absolutely just as entertaining as the first, and my review from 2021 still stands. I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley, really enjoyed the re-read of this one, and voluntarily leave this review - again!
A great second book
This was a great second book! These characters are well written and engaging.
Pay attention to the first chapter.
(It's important, and half way through my read, I had to go back and read it again.)
It was nice to be back with Riley, Nick and all the craziness of their lives. This time around, Riley gets more into her gift, and takes more of the lead in the case, which is fun to see.
And of course, Nick adds the heat to the pages! Such a hot, Steamy man!
Most favorite book quote ever...(seriously ever)
"He’d been leaving a trail of sparkly crap everywhere he went for two weeks like a middle-aged, cross-dressing Disney fairy with diabetes.”
Please read this in the correct order to get the best from the story. The next edition to this series cannot come soon enough for me!! 😀❤

Lucy has always been one of my favorite authors. Surprise another one for the five stars, she always does it with her books amazingly. Thank you, NetGalley for the Arc this was PERFECT.

Riley Thorn and the Corpse in the Closet is a delightful sequel takes Riley’s adventures to a new level of excitement and hilarity. The intricate plot involving multiple mysteries, quirky characters, and a warning from the killer ratchets up the suspense, ensuring you won't be able to put the book down. Lucy Score's signature humor and endearing characters shine once again, and Riley Thorn's adventures continue to captivate and entertain!

I love Riley and Nick and this installment of the series did not disappoint.
This book has everything from romance, to mystery, to a little otherworldly drama.
I couldn't put this book down. Lucy Score is one of my reasons whatever she writes, authors.
