I didn’t quite realise this was all an interconnected series. It was my bad for not doing my homework before signing up for this one. I am sure it’s awesome though and I will eventually read the series!

The Corpse in The Closet was equal parts romantic comedy and lighthearted murder mystery. I really enjoyed all the characters, the family banter, Riley and Nick’s playful relationship, and the solving of crimes with psychic powers. The perfect book if you’re in the mood for a quick read that keeps you laughing and guessing.

Thank you Netgalley and Bloom Books for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This one was really entertaining but this one was a little too over the top at times.

Nick was mostly non-committal in the first book so seeing him be more of a boyfriend and the jealousy he felt added to this second book. Riley is an awesome heroine

I'm excited for the last one and I'm hoping it will be a tad more serious

This was another super fun and quick read, though it maybe didn't hold my attention quite as much as the first installment. Riley Thorn is adjusting to her new relationship with PI Nick Santiago when his former partner, Detective Weber, requests her psychic assistance to solve the murder of a wannabe You-Tuber obsessed with holding onto her youth and beauty, found suffocated in her walk in closet with a pair of fancy panties down her throat. At the same time, Nick is working on a missing person's case, but when another body turns up, the two soon realize all of their cases share a common link. With the introduction of Riley's scary medium grandmother and Nick's judgemental parents, there's plenty of opportunities for their rag tag group of senior neighbors and Riley's parents to embarrass them both. The banter is quick and sexy, and the side characters sometimes threaten to steal the show. Again, I'm always a little suspect of a man who is so quick to do a total 180 in the commitment department, but when it's Nick F✨ing Santiago, you just let it slide.

Wonderful second book of the series. It is a great continuation from the first story and does not review the first book excessively. I recommend reading the books in order, back to back.

I enjoyed the first book in this series. This one not so much. It’s a light mystery type read with a lot of silly things that make you laugh throughout. Way too much language in the book and the scene towards the end with every male drinking what was in the vial was a little much 🙄 I don’t think I’ll keep reading in the series. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Cute, fast paced mystery. Love the quirky cast of characters. Perfect book for fans of the Finley Donovan books.

This book was cute. I really enjoyed the characters, although I could use less of her roommates sometimes. Riley is likable and Nick seems decent. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

The thing about this series is... it's fine, but it's not great. It's going for a steamy cozy mystery- which I love! I wish there were more books in this genre! But the romance falls a little flat for me. I do like the aspect of the books that centers around the psychic abilities of the FMC. Overall I want more from the romance as I read these so they leave me a little bit disappointed.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Nick and Riley are continuing on with the private investigator business and Riley is keeping up with her halfass attempt at learning how to control her visions. When Riley’s grandmother comes to town and puts Riley in psychic boot camp, Riley’s attention is pulled in multiple directions, including assisting the police with a case.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance series where the second book continues to follow the couple from the previous book where they had a happy resolution. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from a tension / spice perspective since they’re happily together, but I can tell you I was not expecting the CONSTANT tease that was Nick and Riley wanting to hook up nonstop and always being interrupted. They still had their hot moments though. The main plot had a similar vibe to the first book with the goofy neighbors, eccentric family and entertaining cases to solve. Another fun read!

This is the second book in the Riley Thorn series, and I loved it! This series so far is funny, engaging, and has a cast of characters that are so quirky and memorable.

Riley is a reluctant psychic, who according to those who know her, could be quite powerful if she learned to embrace her skill and practiced it. Riley feels like it would be easier to shut out the voices she hears rather than act of them. This book was a great continuation of the series, and I love the further development of Riley's romance with private investigator Nick Santiago.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a funny cozy mystery style story with paranormal elements.

This story was so fun! Equal parts contemporary fiction and murder mystery, with a dual pov, paranormal/psychic main character, and a romantic subplot…this book has everything. The pacing was great, the story was funny, the side characters were a blast. I love the first book, now this one, and I can’t wait to read the next two installments.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me this ARC.

Perhaps even more silly and over the top than the last one! These books have been a fun palette cleanser of sorts for me that are different than the books I've been reading lately and providing me a good laugh and escape. Looking forward to continuing the series!

Lucy Score does it again with the second installment in the Riley Thorne series. This book is just as hysterical as the first.
Riley now has to deal with local “celebrity” status being recognized in public. She navigates her relationship with Nick (along with some hilarious banter) while still living in the mansion. She also has to deal with grandma’s “psychic boot camp.”
She agrees to help Weber with his latest case, leading to some perfectly outrageous drama!! I highly recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley for this copy!

I struggled with this story though I do enjoy this author. Riley is quirky and funny at times and her boyfriend Nick is entertaining. But between issues with Riley Grandmother and Nick's family and job their is alot going on. Its a pretty quick read and has the mystery flair to it.

This was a really fun romystery. I’m not sure if romystery is a thing but if anyone can make it a thing, Lucy Score can. Thank you to NetGalley for this fun read. I will be continuing on to the next book in the series.

Unfortunately this story wasn't for me, but I did enjoy the Knockemout series by Lucy Score.

I did enjoy the banter, humor and witty sarcasm. The story could have been much shorter and felt slow until about 60% in. After that I was hooked and didn't want to put the book down.

Nick is super toxic and gives off major alpha-male energy. Riley, I feel like she was a people pleaser. Her grandmother was awful and I really wished everyone didn't let her control them. In real life she would have been cut out of mine.

It got a little excessive the amount of times the characters were described as being sweaty. I heard that loud and clear especially while reading this story during a heatwave lol.

Overall the story had it's funny and intense moments, it just wasn't the right vibe I prefer for a romance novel.

The Corpse in the Closet is book two in the Riley Thorn series from Lucy Score. Summer is heating up for reluctant psychic Riley Thorn and her handsome private investigator boyfriend, Nick Santiago. First, her disapproving grandmother arrives determined to make Riley take her powers seriously or face the wrath of “the Guild.” Then there’s the homicide detective who needs her help figuring out who murdered the well-dressed corpse in the walk-in closet.

Nick’s got his own hands full with a tricky missing person case and his parents who want to know why he didn’t tell them about his live-in girlfriend. Then there’s the fact that he’s still the tiniest bit stressed about Riley almost getting murdered earlier that summer. The last thing he wants is her getting involved in another investigation.

Things go from bad to worse when the body count starts stacking up, the meet-the-parents dinner goes horribly wrong, and their elderly roommate is up to no good…dressed like a mime.

To top it off, Riley is forced to return to Channel 50 on official police business to question her spray-tanned news anchor ex-husband and his new weather girl fiancée. The trouble comes to a head when Riley receives a warning from the killer: Back off or she’s next. Someone has to solve these murders before she becomes the next corpse.

I love anything written by Lucy Score. This is a fun addition to the series. I loved book one, and cannot wait to dive into book 3. This series is very entertaining, a romance novel , with a murder mystery tied in.

Lucy Score knows how to keep readers captivated! This series is so fun!

I love this series as we see Riley and Nick go through life as a couple and a double work duo. There's murder, mystery, hilarity, sweetness. There were so many great moments that had me laughing, I couldn’t get enough of them. I love how we get to see them navigate as a couple and their banter and grow together. There's so much going on and things that test them and make them strong but Lucy score knows how to keep you entertained for sure!

Thoughts
📕 I loved way each book starts off the same way- with a current event depicting a crime/victim - Then - the book shifts to the past building up to the present timeline
📕Score’s characters are epic! I want to be Mrs Penny when I grow up- this book is bursting with cocktails and shit disturbers and profound chaos in the BEST way
📕 Nick Santiago can be my protector anyday
📕 this series feels like a TV show Cocktail - think a shot of Superstore, a shot of Murder She Wrote with a bit of a Reality tv chaser mixed in
📕the reader is so swept up in the characters shenanigans and solving the mystery that the romance takes a back seat- until a carefully crafted burst of sexual energy and activity reminds us that our MCs have needs

Overall
Binged all 4 books in 2 days!!! I would easily
Keep reading more books about these characters
