Sharks! Sharks! Sharks!, written by Susan Martineau and illustrated by Vicky Barker is a children's nonfiction book that offers hundreds of fascinating facts about the amazing world and lives of these often misunderstood creatures of the deep found throughout the world's oceans. There are detailed drawings of many different species, as well as facts about what they eat, how they take care of their baby sharks, their social circles, and how we can preserve them. Find out which sharks can glow in the dark, and which ones like to hang out in the coral reef. You'll even find out what sharks were like in the past and how they have evolved.

Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! is a well illustrated and written book. The information is interesting and accessible, and I found the artwork to be a pretty perfect blend of realistic and cartoon- able to give a real idea of the details without ever being scary or sterile. I thought the page layouts were very well done- keeping the reader's interest and keeping them fully engaged with the book on several levels- making this a great book for independent reading and for sharing with those that the text might be a little too much for. I appreciated the inclusion of a glossary of 'special shark words' at the end of the book as well as the reminder that sharks are living creatures in trouble because of stereotypes and fear. Young readers with an interest in nature, the oceans, or sharks will get the most out of this read- but I think everyone can enjoy it.

This book is absolutely stunning. The illustrations are really bright and colourful meaning I took the time to just appreciate them. I liked that the pages weren't too text heavy and that the text was split up into sentences rather than being large paragraphs which made this so much more engaging and inviting to read. The facts in this book were fascinating and I've learnt that sharks are in fact extremely cool creatures.

Overall I loved this book and will definitely be picking up again to scroll through the illustrations!

I've got two boys (4 and 6) who love reading about SHARKS. So, obviously, this book was perfect for our family.

First of all, what a gorgeous and eye-catching cover, as well as the artwork inside. I would snatch this one off the shelf without hesitating. The information inside is fascinating and not exactly the same as all the other shark books out there for kids. I would absolutely add this to our collection.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Beautiful illustrations drive this informational text about sharks. It will be a great tie-in for a display to relate kids to shark week. I am excited to add this to my school library.

Thank you to Net Galley, Happy Fox Books, and Fox Chapel Publishing for the eARC!

Vibrant illustrations but could be more dynamic. Informative yet easy-to-understand text. The fact about living off oil instead of starving was funny and interesting. Was hoping for a short story about sharks at the beginning or at the end. Full of fun facts and trivia about sharks. Simple and comprehensive explanations. Wished there were more speech-bubbles for the sharks; they've got personality! Overall, an average read.

Great book with interesting facts and impressive illustrations. My five year old loved it! I think it's a good fit for a wide range of ages (preschool - upper-elementary)

Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! is a beautifully illustrated children's book filled with fascinating information about sharks. It covers the well known species, like the great white or the whale shark, but also talks about lesser known ones, from huge basking sharks to those that could fit in the palm of your hand! The illustrations are stunning and perfectly capture a large variety of sharks and other sea creatures. This book is a must-have for any young shark lover.

Yep. Just yes. If you have a kid fascinated by sharks, buy this.
This book completely accomplishes what it wants: to teach children about sharks.
The illustrations are lovely. The information is delivered in a nice and digestible way with a good flow. I loved how it included that most sharks don't actually want to hurt humans, thereby trying to unravel the stereotypes about sharks. And I especially appreciated the emphasis on how humans are killing millions of shark every year, even when we make this picture of them being scary animals to us. I was far too old when I learned about this and I sure wish I was told this sooner.
Big yes from me.

Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! by Susan Martineau is a great way for children to learn about Sharks. The illustrations were beautiful. Sharks are misunderstood, I think especially by the headlines. It would be easy for children to only think of sharks as scary. This book gave a lot of interesting facts about the different types of sharks. I actually learned that I had some misconceptions about sharks myself!

My kids enjoyed this deep dive into sharks. The art style was great and it was very easy to read aloud.

This book was really really cool! Look, I might be biased because I love sharks (and shark week is one of my favourite weeks in the history of cable TV), but this is actually a really good book for kids about sharks and the all kind of sharks there are. Lots of facts, great illustrations. A fun educative ride!

Went into this not knowing too much, but was surpised! My daughter loves sharks and will be purchasing so she can learn more about them. I learned so much, about types of sharks and habits. Hunting styles and diet and the like. I also learned random facts that I would not have thought or imagined. The illustrations were so different as I am used to just seeing photographs, I do very much love the use of colors in the artists palette.

Shark attack!

...but no, "Sharks! Sharks! Sharks!" is not about shark attacks; rather, it's about the diversity of sharks, and how their bodies are built, and why they're fascinating creatures. I find sharks kind of terrifying (in the same category as zombies—dead behind the eyes, cannot be reasoned with), but I love the enthusiasm with which sharks are approached here, and the fact that the book calls out some misconceptions about sharks. (They don't generally want to attack humans—most shark "attacks" are really a shark trying to figure out if a human is food.) There's a wide, wide variety of sharks under discussion here, and my favorite is definitely the Greenland shark, which I'd never heard of—did you know that a Greenland shark is estimated to live hundreds of years, and they don't procreate until they're 150 or so? (And—this per Wikipedia—when they *do* procreate, the gestational period is 8–18 years long? Jeepers creepers.)

This is not the sort of children's book with a lot of story or plot, and it's probably best suited to more advanced readers who have recently come home with a lot of questions about sharks, or about the ocean in general. But if you have one of those kids in your life...? This is definitely a book for them.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.

I could easily plan a whole shark mini-unit around this book. My second grade students would be THRILLED to spend a few weeks learning about sharks. The images in the book are helpful for students to be able to have a frame of reference for what the author is talking about. Great book!

I LOVE THIS BOOK! The illustrations are out of this world adorable. I am very passionate about sharks and why we need to protect them, but I used to be really scared of them and then I learned and educated myself about them and now I love them and this book is perfect for teaching them young!!

This is a very cute book about everything sharks. Catering to younger kids (ages 6 and up) the book is full of fun facts about sharks and lots of cute, engaging pictures. I especially loved the shark vocabulary at the end.

Are you a shark fan? Do you enjoy learning about different sharks? Did you know that the Greenland Shark can live hundreds of years and doesn't even give birth until it is 150 years old? I never knew some of these sharks existed until reading about them in the book. Susan Martineau did a wonderful job writing this book about sharks. She has shared a lot of facts and kept it very interesting.

This book is created for children, however, adults who love sharks would enjoy reading this book. Vicky Barker did an amazing job with the illustrations, they hold a lot of details which is perfect for children!
