I’ve been getting into more non-fiction books this year, and I thought this would be a good one to add to my repertoire. Unfortunately, this book didn’t do much for me. It didn’t offer anything new to the table and I’m going to be honest, this felt more like a memoir rather than a “step by step” guide on how to glow up. I didn’t go into this book thinking it was a memoir, so I was a little caught off guard by that. I don’t hate this book by any means, I just had different expectations going in.

All in all, this was a good listen and I would recommend it as a good starter to reading non-fiction.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an advanced listener’s copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I had never heard of this youtuber prior to reading the book. I enjoyed the book but it was nothing new or life changing. All the typical self help glow up tips you have heard. I would have probably enjoyed it more in my 20s. It was a nice quick audiobook though

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

I LOVE a good self help book and I especially love listening to them! This audiobook has a good narrator, she was very articulate and I enjoyed listening to this book. I will say that the author gives a lot of writing prompts which may have some wanting to get a physical copy instead of the audio version. I was drawn to the title of this book and the cover. I loved both! I thought it was very pretty and definitely made me pick it.
I will preface this by saying I am a middle aged woman who did not come up in the age of social media. I do have a few accounts but nothing I look at every day. When the book began, Elicia Goguen was speaking about her struggles with social media and the images of influencers not being what she looked like. She had a lot of insecurities and self doubt from that. This really didn’t speak to me and I almost stopped listening but decided to give it a try. Then the author started speaking about her getting sick from stress. A few years ago this happened to me. I was going through an extremely stressful time in my life and was having severe stomach pain. I went to many doctors and finally learned about the mind gut connection. Learning about that changed my life. I was not in tune with my body and I was letting the stress overwhelm me. This book touched on that and went into detail about how to regain control of your body. The practices she described in the book were exactly what I did to get myself feeling better. Those techniques, and time helped me control my stress. I was able to understand what was happening and recognize my triggers. This book has A LOT of good information and I highly recommend it. I would especially recommend it to all the young adults out there! I think the social media aspect is very relevant for young people these days. This book helps to put the overwhelming nature of it into perspective.
I really enjoyed this audiobook. Will definitely recommend this.

The book The Ultimate Glow Up Guide by Elicia Goguen is a self help book designed to help you view yourself and things that occur in your life in a different way. I have never read a self help book. so this was definitely different for me. The book goes through many different topics and the authors methods for dealing with and working through various circumstances. I did enjoy the point made about Fight or Flight and the way our cortisol levels directly correlate to stressful times in our lives The author uses Glow Up as the way they view themselves and how they positively change perception, or in other words "glowing Up"
Overall I enjoyed the book. She also gave different techniques that she uses to change her perspective. I also liked the way she suggests changing your surroundings to make a positive change i your life. Negativity breeds negative feelings and hampers our own personal well being, Being with people that bring you up, instead of down, is paramount to healthy living. It was more of a 3 1/2 but I rounded up.

I could absolutely resonate with the author when she talked about the life in her teens and young adulthood. While not everything I listened to was a new idea, it was a refreshing audiobook that I would pick up again for encouragement.

Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for an audio arc of The Ultimate Glow Up Guide by Elicia Goguen. This book, read by Angela Juarez, it’s a book about being the best version of you. It’s a women empowerment book and unfortunately I didn’t learn anything new or different, but it’s always a good reminder to be the best you, you can be.

I actually really enjoyed this audiobook version! I don’t think I would like the book, but the audio was really well done and I found it very interesting!

So I think this is the first ever self help book I have listened to and I hate to say this but I just could not connect with this book. The author does bring up good points on dealing with inner critique, body image but I was not blown away nor did I feel I was reading something new. Maybe since I was not dealing with such issues I could not connect as much as I wanted to. I just found it bland. The narrator was pretty good.

This was very well written, and has a lot of very helpful tips on how to help heal the way of thinking about things. I really related to this author and what she had to say, and I have gone through a lot of very similar things with anxiety and depression. It was very nice to hear that I’m not the only one that goes through things like that.

I haven't followed this creator before, so I didn't know their personal story. But it hit home how much I could relate to their battles with perfection and social media images. I just felt this utter sense of connection and understanding.

I love how the author talks about ways we can glow up mentally rather than aesthetically, with each chapter focusing on some activities and goals to get there, like talking to people or journaling until we understand the root of our hurt.

I do recommend this book, it is a short read or listen, and it helped me with assessing where I am mentally, and where I wanna go.

"The Ultimate Glow Up Guide" by Elicia Goguen, received as an audiobook, deserves its four-star rating. Despite its brevity, this self-help gem exudes warmth and offers practical advice. While not groundbreaking, its common yet comforting insights make for a delightful, quick read, turning it into a charming companion for moments of reflection. It may not redefine the genre, but its cuteness and valuable guidance create a heartwarming experience, making it a joyful addition to any self-help journey.

This book is not much different from most "empower who you are now to get where you want to be" books, but is still an enjoyable short listen. The author's shared experiences and tips are geared toward very young adults; that is who should be the target audience. The narrator is very engaging and does a great job.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced listener's copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a basic and straightforward self help book. The advice was good, but I think it would be best for a teen/young adult, or someone truly just beginning their self growth journey. It was not an ideal book for me, but it does include some really solid journal prompts and is written in a way that is easy to consume.

3.5/5 Stars (round up). Thank you, NetGalley and Tantor Audio for this audiobook of The Ultimate Glow Up Guide by Elicia Goguen narrated by Angela Juarez.

I guess after listening to this (quick book) I can admit that I'm on the right path and/or already there at the ultimate glow-up stage of my life. Not a bad thing - the Tumblr intro did bring me back in the day (and reminded me of how freaking old I am haha). I enjoyed this quick listen and would probably aim this toward 20-year-olds who have just graduated college and are at their first jobs/figuring themselves out. (Why do I feel like my def of 20-year-olds may be different now?)

The narrator did a great job and I wasn't bored with it one bit. This may have been a different effect if I was to read it instead of listening to it. It did overall sound like a checklist of what to accomplish - which I would've appreciated when I was (much) younger and could visually see. However, it's nothing new that I have not heard of and it was a well-done refresher if anything else.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to listen to this audiobook for free for an honest review.

I think for what this book is, it’s good. There is nothing in the book that make you go “wow” but I still think it’s enjoyable.

I think this book is best for people that really relate to the author. This book is going to be for people that struggle with confidence. I think if you ever struggled with body image issues this would be interesting as well.

Overall I think it’s a good and quick read. If you want a book with some good advice but doesn’t make you think so hard I think this is perfect.

Generally, I’m not a fan of audiobooks because I find myself getting distracted by other things going on around me. This book however held my interest from start to end. I found the content very relatable and took the time to stop and think about barriers in my own life, and ways that I can use what the author wrote to help me resolve some of these issues that I’ve been struggling with.

I also enjoyed that the book wasn’t content overload. Sometimes with self help books, there’s so much information it becomes too much and the things you read/listened to at the beginning of the book get buried by the later content. That wasn’t the case here.

The length of the audio book was great, I listened to it on 1.5 speed and finished it in just 2 days while driving to and from work.

I did find that when I started the book on normal speed, the narrators voice was a bit robotic for me. Once I changed it to 1.5 speed, it was tolerable.

The Ultimate Glow Up Guide audiobook covers some great advice about how to glow up and improve your physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. I really appreciated this full holistic approach. Nothing really new that I haven’t heard but I enjoyed the authors personal experience and perspective.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I was provided an ALC of this book via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

This initially appealed to me because as a middle aged mom of two, self-care is something that always falls to the wayside. I'm not typically one who turns to self-help books but this was a short audiobook and sounded promising. Who doesn't want an empowering book about how to stick to the plan and become the best version of yourself? I've really struggled to get back in the routines I had pre-pandemic and I can contribute all of those things to stress as the author points out. Unfortunately the focus of this book is mainly how to deal with negative self image, unhealthy relationships with food, and delving into potential trauma in your early life that may have caused those things to develop.

This has some nice tips about facing the the reasons you may want a glow up or issues you may have with your own body image. She makes some good points about stress and developing self soothing activities and how to develop good behaviors and identify potential unhealthy behaviors. She gives journaling activities to help with your journey. I'm not a journal person, so I'm not sure how helpful those are. She points out that you should seek a glow up for the right reasons not because you are trying to please someone else or conform to unattainable social media standards, and on that we agree. I'm looking to restart my exercise routine and eat better to be healthier so I can walk my dog when spring comes and keep up with my kids at amusement parks on vacations.

Overall, I think this book may helpful to younger readers. I think for me, this isn't what I was looking for to empower me to restart my self-care journey. My reasons aren't the same as the author's nor are my experiences. I don't have a negative self image or an unhealthy relationship with food. The author does make some good points and I do have some takeaways, however I think I am not the target audience for this particular book.

The book itself is good. I think the “glow up” wording can be slightly misleading. But has some great information and ideas to try.

On top of the worst self-help books I have listened to in the last decade. I kept wondering why this seemed like an essay written by a teen about eating candy (She uses the word Candy a million times in the book - like, I ate candy, do not eat candy, think about eating candy, candy are not good, etc... to the point of exhaustion, especially because I am not a child and do not eat candy). Anyways, after listening to the book, I needed badly to see how old she is, because, seriously, she could not be a 40-year-old woman writing that sh*t, and so, I found her instagram and had the answer I needed - she is indeed a very YOUNG adult who spends her days in the gym and only has photos in tiny gym outfits and indulges in showing her body in all Instagram photos she takes - NOT BRAINY of course! The incredible thing is, during the entire book she tells that she does not want to be known by her appearance, vanity and body, like she used to dream about when she was a teen and kept journals with photos of women in perfect bodies with long, perfect hairs. What do you call this? A hypocrite - a person who says she does not mind bodies anymore but ONLY has photos showing her body during workouts at the gym - Gee!! Kind of a person who tells one thing and do the complete opposite of that! Fine, if you are a 12-year-old girl maybe this makes any sense to you, but NEVER buy this book if you are serious, brainy and is in yours 30s or older!! Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
