Ok, self-help is so NOT my genre of choice, but as a Burn member since January of 2018, I was curious to read this book! I should definitely preface this review by saying that I absolutely love Burn Boot Camp, and it has been life-changing for me in many ways. So I’ve been drinking that pretty blue kool-aid for years now!

I definitely have seen the truths in this book played out in my own life. My “why” when starting Burn was that my pants were hurting me, and I felt uncomfortable all day long. It wasn’t deep or emotional - I just didn’t want my clothes to feel so bad! And yes, while I lost weight and gained lots of muscle, that’s not why I still go to Burn (although those things are great). I go because of the benefits working out gives me as I manage my depression and anxiety as well as the amazing community that I’ve found at my gym. So, I was nodding along as I read the book, and I learned a little bit of the “why” behind my experiences, but I wouldn’t say that I learned any new information.

This would be a great book for someone who is curious about getting healthier but feels intimidated or doesn’t know where to start. The Klines are very real about the benefits - and also the excuses - that people experience when they decide if they want to make some lifestyle choices. I think this book is easy to understand, and it even includes some workouts and recipes to try at home, so you don’t even have to leave your house to try it out! However, for readers who already practice these habits, there isn’t anything new or groundbreaking in this book.

I definitely liked this book and would recommend it to a friend who might be interested in starting to work out or even trying out a Burn Boot Camp. If you already make working out a part of your life, I would probably skip this one, unless you are like me and just a Burn fanatic!

A quick read...and while everything made sense, I didn't see the big breakthrough that was promised. However a definite handbook to follow.

I had heard about the Burn Boot Camp so was intrigued to read more about it. There are workouts and recipes as well as focus on inner and outer strength. The chapters have catchy titles "Burn, Believe, Nourish, Achieve, Connect". There are clear workouts and photos at the back. The recipes are nutritious and simple to prepare (I like that they include the nutrition information!). My challenge is some of the workouts are too advanced for me at this point in my fitness journey. On paper they don't look difficult but when I tried a few of them, I was really struggling. I will go slow and work my way up into some of these -- but the action plans and ideas for focus, goal setting and nutrition are all really good.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hachette Books for an ARC and I voluntarily left this review.

Burn is a good book that helps put into perspective information regarding weight loss. Seeing the real life stories of individuals who have been impacted by different health conditions such as cancer helped to understand the importance of utilizing this book. There is a mindset this book helps you strive for. It also provides workouts and meal options to help get you in your feet in the direction of success
