I had a hard time finishing this book because the storytelling is unclear, the missing words add to the confusion, and the start of book story descriptions are way too vague.

This rom com features wedding vibes and gives hallmark movie feels. Good for a quick escape. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Cute if you like enemies-to-lovers and rom-coms. Wasn't really my cup of tea in the end but I think other people who like this genre more would enjoy it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC of this book.

I liked this book and it was cute but there were some times that had me pushing through it. At times I found it hard to pick up but I had been in a slight reading slump so maybe it was more of a me issue. A small town snowy, enemies to lovers romance is a perfect combination for me and it had the tropes that I loved in it.

I really tried to get through this one but unfortunately I DNF at 30%. My issues with the book came down to two things. The first is that I could not get into the main characters. 30% in and I barely knew Peter’s name and that he was Mari’s husband (I forgot his name) best friend. As for Hazel…I just couldn’t find myself relating. From what I read it was just her rambling about random things, or her talking about how she was a hopeless romantic but Mari was the one who got what she longed for. It honestly felt like she was a selfish/bitter friend which I didn’t like. I also didn’t like how she was assuming all kinds of things about Peter (him being rude and cold) over the small sliver of time they ran into each other at the wedding… and all because he barely responded to her when she was drunk rambling at him??? Honestly if some drunk guy came up to me at a wedding and just started rambling to me and calling me by a different name, I’d be stand-offish too. She was just not my favorite character.

My second issue was that it was SO MUCH dialogue info dump. Everything I learned about the characters were things being told to me through dialogues instead of being shown throughout the book. Hazel was a serial dater because her friend said she was a serial dater. Hazel was an anxious baker because her friend said she was. I wish we were shown these things so we could come up with our own conclusions instead of having everything spoon fed to us. I think this was the main reason I felt zero connection to the characters.

Either way, thank you Netgalley and publisher for eARC. This review is based on my own honest opinions. If anybody has finished the book, let me know what your opinion is!

It was ok. I feel bad saying that but it just wasn't extraordinary to me. I had a hard time pushing through. There were some cute moments, but it wasn't for me.

A quick, enjoyable read brought a smile to my face, reminding me of the need for relaxation. Hazel, who dislikes Peter after meeting him at a wedding, decides to focus on her career and personal matters, avoiding men. When a blizzard strikes and she loses power, she turns to Peter, now her neighbor, for help. Despite their initial animosity, spending time together during the storm allows them to improve their relationship. As they navigate their differences, their interactions become more passionate, hinting at the possibility of romance by Valentine's Day. The story is a charming romance without explicit content, albeit with some profanity and mature themes.

This was my first book by this author and I found it to be a very entertaining read. It's a very quick and light story and is great for when you want to enjoy a cozy afternoon and just relax with a feel-good book. Hazel has put the breaks on dating men for a while and has decided to re-focus her efforts on her career. When the rude best man from her best friend's wedding moves in next door, she is determined to ignore him. But when a blizzard strikes, she has no choice but to take shelter at his place. Now that they are forced into proximity for several days, this gives them a chance to talk things through and they begin to discover their initial judgements may have been wrong and they begin to form a deeper understanding of each other.
This was an enjoyable story that left me with a warm feeling and a smile on my face afterwards. The writing was entertaining and the story enjoyable and I had a lovely time reading it. I would love to try other books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

In Alana Highbury's captivating novel, "Snowed In on Valentine's Day," Hazel embarked on a journey of self-discovery and unexpected romance amidst a tumultuous winter storm. After a series of unsuccessful relationships, Hazel resolved to break her dating pattern and focus on her career. However, fate had a different plan when Peter, the rude best man from her friend's wedding, became her neighbor. Their initial disdain for each other was palpable. Yet, as a massive blizzard trapped them under one roof, Hazel and Peter's icy exterior began to melt. Forced to confront their prejudices, they discovered layers beneath their initial impressions. Days turned into nights as they shared intimate conversations and sparked an undeniable chemistry. On Valentine's Day, with the storm raging outside, the tension between them reached a boiling point. Confused and conflicted, Hazel grappled with her feelings for Peter, a man who seemed to embody both her fears and her desires. Highbury deftly weaves a tale that explores the complexities of love, forgiveness, and second chances. Through Hazel and Peter's journey, readers are reminded that even in the face of adversity, human connection can prevail. The novel's well-developed characters, immersive setting, and evocative prose make it a compelling read that will leave readers longing for more.

This was so precious! I love a grumpy-sunshine story! Hazel had a run-in with best man Peter at her best friend's wedding and decided to make a change in her life. Surprise surprise... Peter the grump moves in next door. A massive blizzard happened and they get snowed in, getting to learn a lot more about each other. The characters were cute and I loved Peter emerging as a cinnamon roll!

Sweet, closed door romance that was just in time for Valentine's Day! Thank you to @netgalley for the chance to review Snowed in on Valentine's Day by Alana Highbury. Thoughts are my own.

A fun valentines read, the story of Peter and Hazel. She is not happy to find he is her new next door neighbour, but will she change her mind once they start spending more time together?

Thank you NetGalley, Alana Highbury, and Shipsvold Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Perfect for a quick and easy read. I will surly look into other books by this author when I need to read something that is light and sweet.

Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Alana Highbury

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

Quick, light and easy read. I read it quickly and it put a smile on my face because who doesn't need a good relaxation read once in a while.
Hazel really doesn't like Peter, she met him at her best friend's wedding, and he's been a bad memory ever since. Swearing off men for now she knows she'll be new and improved focusing on her career and personal issues. A little snow is so pretty to look at but what happens when a blizzard swoops down and you lose power? Well, that means, no heat, no cooking and gasp, no internet. Going next door to get a little help sounds reasonable but when it turns out Peter has moved next door this enemies to lover's story takes an interesting turn. With forced proximity for several days Hazel and Peter are actually able to talk things over. While they don't agree on everything, things are looking a whole lot better relationship wise by the time this is over than when it started. While they both have their own little quirks, tempers flare and passions rise. Valentine's Day may just be something for these two to look forward to this year.
This is a sweet romance without explicit scenes, but it does contain some profanity and adult themes.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers, I was mildly disappointed by the concept of this book I kept wanting more it was very confusing at times because didn’t read the first book and a book shouldn’t depend so much on the first, both mc’s we’re well annoying and they definitely do not suit each other tbh they need a healthy relationship however this is a cute read if feeling bored or out of it but I would not recommend for someone trying to get out of a reading slump

summary: so this book features Peter, and Hazel, and a snow storm. keep in mind, peter and hazel aren't exactly the best of friends, so this may get dicy quickly.

footnotes: this book does contain mildly graphic descriptions of kissing, which were kind of long, so be aware of where you read this.

thoughts: i liked this book a lot! the characters were lovable and easy to relate to, and they felt nuanced and layered. the plot was mostly fun, but it did get predictable at times. i loved the enemies-to-lovers storyline, and it felt like the plot was very thought-out. the setting is in a snowstorm, and there are multiple ways that ties into the plot. the story was also mainly focused on the main characters, and didn't have any side characters taking up space. the romance had me swooning, and the kisses though graphic, made sense emotionally.

overall, perfect for someone who wants a quick, cute romance only centered around the main characters.
