This is the first book I have read from the author Elene Sallinger and I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look out for more of her work. She is a fantastic author.

Claire is an emotionally-distraught woman who has little self-worth, yet as she finally analyzes and accepts herself her confidence grows. Even when not clearly stated, you can see Claire’s belief in herself developing in her actions and attitude and dress. This subtlety made the novel all the better and kept the reader as part of the process in Claire’s self-discovery.

Evans loyalty to his deceased wife is holding him back from having a relationship with Claire, making for the main obstacle in the story. This plot is a bit overused, but had the added twist that stems from BDSM. As a reader of romance you want nothing more than the two main characters to find happiness together, yet the book would actually be nearly as satisfying had it ended with Claire merely standing up for herself and moving on with her life. While we would lament Evan's inability to overcome his emotional baggage, the reading would be cheering Claire on.
