This book caught my interest quickly, and kept it til the end. Three friends kill a boy and run away, to be later gathered at home again while authorities try to figure it out again. The ending was unexpected.

I’m sure lots of readers will really enjoy this book, but I’m afraid I didn’t. I couldn’t warm to any of the characters (there was nothing there to warm to) and the story didn’t interest me at all. The writing was OK but the story seemed to drag on and it was a struggle to get to the end. Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the electronic copy but this one’s not for me I’m afraid.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this copy in return for my honest review.

A gripping psychological thriller which didn’t disappoint! This is my first book from this author and I throughly enjoyed. Great writing style and keeps you gripped throughout.

Not my normal read, but Interesting. I was not expecting the action/suspension to be as good as it was. I really enjoy when a story has surprises throughout and its not just the same boring story.

Truthfully, I had an extremely difficult time with this book. I'm not sure if it was due to the multiple POVs in the book and struggling to fully connect with the characters. But I had to force myself to read up until the 80% mark of the book. It was only when I got there that things finally started getting interesting for me. The things that were mentioned in each POV finally connected and started making sense instead of the cliffhangers at the end of almost every chapter.

As someone who reads a lot of thrillers and watches a lot of crime shows, the premise that 3 high school kids got away with the "perfect murder" and had a solid alibi wasn't very believeable to me. How could these amatuer kids that were highly loved in school or their hometown suddenly accomplish a crime that no professional could solve?

For me this book was 2.5 stars, but the ending catching me off guard added half a star leaving this book as a 3 for me.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC.

Drink every time they mention a 'Saint John'.

This book felt like getting edged, but not in a good way. The peaks and troughs of interesting vs boring were a rough ride, and the ending left a lot to be desired. I quite literally thought "is that it?". We know from the off he was murdered, and who by, and the rest of the book didn't pay off my investment of time. Some of the writing was interesting, but it was hard to care about anyone. Sloan was the most interesting, but she alone couldn't make up for the rest.

2.5 rounded up. Thank you to net galley for the arc.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Well written with a great cast of intelligent main characters (unlike the usual gullible, clueless ones commonly portrayed by other authors).
Gripping plot right from the beginning and the ending is excellent…multiple shocking twists! Just WOW!!

Thank you for my advanced copy NetGalley.

I wasn’t enthralled by this as some other readers were. It was ok, but just wasn’t doing it for me. I had trouble getting into it… and I wasn’t loving the writing style. It wasn’t terrible but… I didnt love it as much as I was hoping to.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC

A psychological thriller about a group of friends who kill off an "evil" teen, and the group's fears of exposure. Not a spoiler, this fact comes in early on in this story.

Decent read, I just wish that the story built up some relationship with and/or empathy towards the group of murderous teens before learning what they did - you don't learn the reason why they chose such a permanent solution until the end of the book.

Rather than empathize with the teens, I cheered for the PI attempting to bring the truth to light. Who we are as teens bears LITTLE resemblance to the adult we can grow into (given the chance to do so). Therefore, removing that chance from the realm of opportunities, is a sucker move in MY book😉 regardless of any "rationale" for doing so.

I haven’t read too many ‘Why Dunnit’ books so I wasn’t sure whether i’d enjoy this book but i really loved it. The setting and scenery is so immersive, and really brings you into the story as if you’re there. The characters are full of depth too, particularly Sloane, Emmy, Nick and Pete. Sloane was my favourite character and loved the multiple POVs throughout the story too. I am really excited to read more from this author!

3.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley & Canelo for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The idea of a whyduint set in small town USA intrigued me. I love a good murder mystery, and that aspect was done well. I will say though that I was able to figure out the motive before it was revealed- and while it was a solid motive, I wish it had been more of a shock. Also, I didn't love how the involvement of the three main characters played out. It rubbed me the wrong way and made me feel bad for them in the end. This was an alright murder mystery overall.

Thank you to Netgalley and Canelo for this ARC of ‘Savage Ridge’ by Morgan Greene.

This book had me hooked from the start. I love a bit of cat and mouse chase. I also loved that we knew who the killers were from the start, it was just about uncovering the why. Overall I’d definitely recommend giving this a read!

Good book that has a great thriller of a story in the pages. I liked the whole book and the way the twists unfold for the reader.

This author is more known for his Jamie Johansson series, the first of which - Angel Maker - I have had on my TBR for a wee while now. After reading this I will definitely bump it up...
We start in the past. 10 years ago, when Sammy Saint John was murdered by classmates Nick, Emmy and Pete. But with no body being found, no arrests are made and the three friends swiftly leave town, promising never to return.
But... it'd be a very short book if they stuck to this promise, wouldn't it... and they don't! One drawn back by circumstance the other two by, well, sort of design but I'll leave you to the find out the details of the hows and whys, but it involves one PI Sloane Yo... Anyway, back they all come, at the same time.
And so begins a bit of a cat and mouse game as Sloane Yo tries to achieve what every other, and there have been many, PIs have failed to do in the long 10 years since Sammy died. To find out the truth and bring Sammy some justice.
In truth, I enjoyed this book but it did leave me with a few questions and also delivered a few niggles along the way. I wasn't particularly enamoured by Yo, I thought the way the three were reunited was a bit not quite convincing. But, the concept, the plot and the execution outwith the niggles did entertain and definitely held my attention thoroughly, without irking me too badly, along the way. There was a bit of a curve ball that came right out of left field that did make me wonder why we hadn't heard any foreshadowing of said ball. Maybe there was, maybe I missed it.
Anyway, for those who like a whydunnit rather than a whodunnit, and who can forgive a few niggles along the way, I'd would definitely recommend this book. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

I genuinely enjoyed this read. It did have its quirks in the sense of having some UK spellings and temperatures being in Celsius when the story is based in Washington State. I don’t find that to be an issue considering the author is from Wales. Those details would be resolved before publishing.

I like that it’s a reversed whodunnit - we know who did it, but why? So you could say *whydunnit*

The multiple perspectives are easy to follow, as well as the then vs now chapters. I wish we saw the viewpoint from Emmy, but I understood eventually why she may not have gotten perspective chapters. I won’t say as it could be a spoiler!

My last wish if there could be an epilogue added. I feel like it would wrap things up just a little bit for the characters!

Three friends all with a deadly secret threatening their very existence meet up after ten long years of disappointments, disillusioned expectations and failed relationships. The small town where they grew up has not changed, the poverty stricken alongside the wealthy inhabitants who still call the shots wielding an iron fist against any dissent to threaten their rule. The return of the trio ignites the catalyst for reawakening the mystery of a long lost son and a families thirst for revenge. A storyline of many twists unusual in that the reader knows who did it. The how, why and when are the enigma that leads to an unexpected and shocking conclusion when nothing and nobody acts as expected. Many thanks to author publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Immersive, Compelling..
Secrets, lies and resentments will out in this deeply atmospheric mystery with the small town setting of Savage Ridge. The author handles the inverted mystery element convincingly well - leaving the reader to question their own morals as well as those of the perpetrators - whilst the whydunnit element raises the stakes. A well drawn and credible cast of characters populate the tension fuelled plot underpinned by a firm and haunting sense of place and an intriguing story line. Immersive and compelling.
