Leoni comes from a family of privilege. She has a great life but she lives under her parents thumb. She feels she can't get away because when she was young her father helped get her out of what could have been a horrible situation. As she gets older her thoughts about this accident don't go away and she feels she will never truly be happy. When she meets someone and falls in love her past starts catching up to her and she will have to face what her father tried to cover up. This is a thrilling tale that is worth a listen. The narrator does a great job with the character voices.

Man, I keep piking up books with such toxicity, and I’m gobbling them up. Make Her Pay was addicting and filled with so much manipulation and plans for revenge. It was absolutely addicting from start to finish.

This is told in a dual POV through the eyes of Leonie and Carrie. It’s filled with very unlikable characters, especially Leonie’s Dad - who really just needs to go. Leonie and Carrie, I want to say they are likable enough? but I think they are both way easier to dislike. Leonie has it all while Carrie just constantly complains woe is me.

It was so interesting to me to see how each character dealt with tragedy. This is a story about revenge and the past quite literally catching up to you. I love the twists that were thrown in there, a few of them audibly made me gasp. The ending was phenom - it was so satisfying. But that end twist; wow, I did not see that coming at all.

I listened to this one via audiobook and narrators Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch were perfect. Their voices were so distinct I always knew which character was speaking. I was hooked on this book and flew through it in a night.

This one was released in December on KU but the audio is being released on 3/12. Highly recommending this one to all of my psychological thriller fans! Huge thank you NetGalley, Miranda Rijks and Dreamscape Media for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I am so sorry but I need to stop listening to this. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the copy for me to listen to… but I just cannot go on listening to how awful the narrator is.
She sounds like an old lady who smoked 3 packs of cigs a day. I might give this another try as a book to read but not as an audiobook.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the ALC. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. This psychological thriller centers around Leonie who lives in the UK. She has the perfect life- a great house, an amazing career and a whirlwind romance with the man of her dreams. But she has a secret, 10 years ago she was involved in a fatal car accident and fled the scene. But now it seems that someone is trying to sabatoge her and her wedding and she realizes that her past may be resurfacing. The plot and character development were perfectly paced and so well executed. This was a page turner and I found myself not wanting to put it down. I felt like the ending was a little rushed, but it tied up the storyline. I love the development of Leonie’s character and the strength that she found at the end. A must read for all psychological thriller lovers!

This one was twisty!
From the point of view of two very messed up women. One who did something when she was young and the other who had something done to her. Revenge doesn't always go as planned though. My only complaint was how rushed the ending felt. A slow release ending would have made this a 5 star for me.
This has been posted to Goodreads.

"Make Her Pay" was an okay read, but it had an interesting plot. The story revolves around revenge and getting even. While reading the novel, I empathized with Leonie. She was only sixteen years old and was being controlled by her father, both then and now. I don't blame her for how she handled the crash. On the other hand, Carrie, the victim and the antagonist of the story wants to get even with the person she believes is responsible for her miserable life after the accident and everything she lost as a result of it.
Although I don't believe in revenge, it makes for a good story in novels. However, I would take a different approach to confront someone at fault. Carrie has taken the most dangerous path, resulting in more than just ruining one person's life. Her actions, however, have triggered some secrets that Leonie revealed and was shocked by.

This is by far my favorite Miranda Rijks book. It's a story about secrets that are buried and the aftermath of what happens when they're discovered. Mostly, this is a book about revenge. It's a super fast read that will keep you engaged and guessing. I listened to the audiobook for this one and the two narrators did an excellent job bringing their characters to life. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this advance copy!

A perfectly fine thriller but I really didn’t connect or like any of the characters the twists were rather easy to figure out but it was fine overall,

3.25 stars
This was a fun, fast read!
Although the book is a bit predictable, it is still a lot of fun to read it and it is very enjoyable. It goes fast and a few things happen, therefore you don't feel as if the plot is dragged out.
An unfortunate accident in the past, selfish rash decisions and, of course, the consequences to those decisions have no statute of limitations, especially in the eyes of those victimized.
There was a little thing in the end that shaved off half a star for me. That little reveal didn't work for me.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this fun book!

This UK psychological thriller was a wild ride. None of the characters are likable, so really I didn't much care for what happened to them. However, Leonie was the one I felt worst for. I guess she's not 100% horrible, but she's the one who did the horrible thing at the beginning. She was 16 and only following the instructions of her father in the aftermath, and she is consumed by guilt, but just not enough to have done something about it.
I do enjoy a book where every character is horrible and you hate them, but for some reason this one didn't fully click with me. I enjoyed how it ended. The plot was great. The characters fully developed (enough for the story being told), but I'm not sure what it is about it that just never fully pushed me over the edge of loving it.
The narrators (Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch) did a wonderful job with making the men seem condescending and horrible and the women just naïve and gullible.
Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC. This is my honest opinion.

This is my first Miranda Rijks book and it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style and some of the twists.
I really liked the characters and their development along the way.
Thanks NetGalley and publisher for my digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the book #MakeHerPay by #MirandaRijks. This book is about a horrible crash, the aftermath and revenge. How do you move on when you have killed someone and you aren’t caught? The guilt is exhausting. But who is out to get you?

A compelling read (or rather listen since this was an audiobook), but my main complaint is a huge spoiler.
I really enjoyed the ending. I didn’t mind that each of the characters were varying degrees of unlikable. Do not read this book if you do not enjoy reading about unlikable characters. I, personally, love unlikable characters.
Both of the main narrators did a good job at bringing the story to life. I would recommend this audiobook or the actual book to those who enjoy psychological thrillers.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free eARC audiobook in exchange for a honest review.

The audio version of Make Her Pay by Miranda Rijks was an entertaining listen. The audio was narrated by Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch. Both narrators did a great job and their voices are distinct enough to tell two main characters apart.
Leonie is a successful, well-off 20-something woman, who meets a rich, charming man while on a job and is swept off her feet. The whirlwind romance leads to a quick engagement.
Leonie is ecstatic about her fiancé and is busy planning her wedding with her mom when random things start happening, like her wedding dress being sold to someone else and her flowers being changed at the florist. Despite the hiccups, Leonie pushes onward and prepares to marry Markus.
Leonie does not know why random things are happening. Is it because of her secret from 10 years ago? Is it because of her controller mother? Poor Leonie seems to have a lot of misfortune in her life.
There are several twists, including one near that end that I definitely did not see coming.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscapes Media for the advanced listen in exchange for my honest review. All thought and opinions are my own.
3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked this story.! The characters were well thought out, there were lots of twists and turns, and I love the 2 POVs!
It took a typical trope (one has a secret they've kept for years, someone knows the secret and wants revenge) but it spun the trope in a very unputtdownable, gripping way!
The narrator was also great!

Such a great twisty read! Rijks is a new author to me and did not disappoint. Following two different perspectives- readers are carried through the childhood traumas of the two main characters. Not that the beginning of the book is slow, but once the connection is revealed it’s a race to the finish. The narration was excellent and kept me engaged the whole time.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I found it a little hard to get into at first. Once I locked in it was enjoyable and entertaining enough to keep me engaged…but by no means riveting. I didn’t connect to any of the characters and I found Leonie’s father especially unbearable.
This is a quick listen and it builds well. There are some interesting twists and turns throughout but the ending left me unsatisfied.
3.6 rounded up to 4.

Thank you to @netgalley and @dreamscapemedia for my free arc audiobook! Also, to the author, Miranda Rijks, author of 'The Visitors' and 'What She Knew'.
First of all, I really liked the narrator, she did a great job getting into character! This was a page-turner, for real! Definitely kept me interested from page one! I would have never guessed the ending, which was a good surprise! A good psychological thriller!
Leonie is the daughter of a very wealthy family who wishes to be independent from her controlling and meddlesome family. Her parents try to make her decisions; she allows it, in order to keep the peace.
One day, Leonie meets Markus, successful and dreamy guy. They fall madly in love, or so it seems, but Markus isn't all that he appears. He has secrets and so does Leonie. As a teen, she was the driver in a car accident and killed someone, but her Dad covered it up, so she got away with it.
As wedding plans are made, sabotages start to begin. Leonie has an enemy and someone is out to make her life miserable.
Who is out to destroy Leonie and what is Markus hiding?

I know I am probably in the minority, but this book was very annoying! The main character was insufferable and the twists became quite predictable. I did enjoy the audiobook narrator however and the story is much better for the main portions than it is in the flashback portions (or portions during the "main event" car situation) trying to be spoiler free here haha

I finished this book in a day. It was delectable, thought it wasn’t mind-blowing.
The alternating perspectives flowed well together. I always love when relationships (not just romantic) are revealed in a twist, and this delivered on that, for sure. I didn’t like the ignorance from the main character, but I’m pretty sure I would be that gullible in her position. Most characters didn’t have strong character development. The villain could have had a stronger back story. The end of the book was genuinely a fever dream… it felt like the other said “let’s just add some spice and wrap it up in a bow.” Also, I hated the audiobook narrator’s voice 😬. In all, this book entertained me, but it did not spook me.
