Make Her Pay is a cleverly crafted thriller that keeps the reader debating who the villain is (or how many there are). I enjoyed the unfolding of this story, and all the elements that fed into the plot and character development. There are plenty of twists, from start to finish, with an ending that is satisfying.
I listened to the audiobook that was performed by two narrators. They each brought their main characters to life. I listened at 2x speed, with 1.75x speed being my average/normal listening speed for audiobooks.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook.

Make Her Pay by Miranda Rijks
(Narrated by Charlie Albers; Ella Lynch)
Suspenseful and twisty thriller!
Leonie involved in a fatal hit and run accident ten years ago and which she didn’t expect that it connected to her current life. She’s now going to marry the perfect man, Marcus. But, was Marcus that perfect for her?
A smartly written thriller with full of surprises. It kept myself guessing what’s happening next. Both narrators did a great job to create that suspense vibe.
Many thanks to NetGalley, dreamscape and the author for my copy.

Make Her Pay is a great thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat with some good twists and a tense game of cat and mouse. Leonie thinks she met the man of her dreams but everything is not what it seems. She has a secret from ten years earlier that involved a fatal traffic accident. How can meeting the love of her life and a dark secret be linked? That was a fun ride.
Make Her Pay seems to lay all its cards on the table from the beginning. In most books, the main character has a secret which is always part of the twist. Not this time and that was refreshing. From the start, we knew Leonie played a part in covering up a fatal accident.
Once the twist started everything got pieced together in such an intestine way that intersected every portion of Leonie’s life. I kept getting shocked by twist after twist in the back half of this book, but it all led to an ending that didn’t fully work for me. My only complaint with this book was the ending. If you love thrillers this is definitely not a thriller to miss!

That was a wild ride and I enjoyed every second of it. This story shows that you can’t escape your past and all debts must be paid.
Leonie and Carrie are both interesting main characters who are polar opposites when it comes to their lives. Leonie is the daughter of a wealthy real estate enterprise and Carrie struggles to make ends meet. Both women share one thing in common though, haunted by an incident that happened 10 years ago that changed their lives forever.
The story and the narration were both super engaging and kept my attention. It starts at a steady pace and more and more bad things keep happening to Leonie that couldn’t possibly be a coincidence, right? The suspense is nonstop in this and I was always kept on the edge of my seat wondering what else could possibly happen.
A well done psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. A lot of the same books that fall under this genre let me down at the end but this one left me satisfied. I’ll definitely be keeping an eager eye out for more of Miranda Rijks’s novels.

Miranda Rijks "Make Her Pay" is a psychological thriller in the likes of Freida Mcfadden and Kiersten Modglin. Great, quick read.

Wow! I am still thinking about this book. I was hooked from the beginning. The twists were unexpected and a roller coaster ride. One of the best psychological thrillers I have read lately. The ending felt rushed but still a great book.

Make her pay by Miranda Rijks is a psychological thriller that follows Leonie and Carrie. Leonie grew up with overprotective parents who controlled many aspects of her life. At 16 years old Leonie gets into a hit-and-run accident and now carries the guilt of that accident with her. She tries to put it in the past, but it has taken it's toll on her mentally. Carrie is the victim of the hit-and-run accident and is having a difficult time moving past it. She is out for revenge and Leonie is her target. I didn't find either of these characters particularly likable but I was still interested to see how Carrie would get revenge on Leonie. This audio kept my interest but I found some of the plot line unrealistic/believable. Still an enjoyable read that is worth giving a listen to.

Narration: I had a difficult time with the narration of this audio. The accents were difficult for me to understand at the speed I typically listen to audio books. I usually listen to them at 2.0-2.5 speed. This one I had to listen at 1.5 to understand. The narrators tone and inflection were not an issue and they did voice different characters nicely. I would recommend listening to a sample if possible. Since I had a difficult time with the narration, I think I would have enjoyed this more if I read it on my kindle.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of Miranda Rijks and for readers who enjoy psychological thrillers or books about revenge.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advance listeners copy of this audiobook. I voluntarily listened and gave an honest review.

From the outside looking in Leonie has the perfect life. A well-paying job she enjoys, a nice house, and she just met the man of her dreams, Markus. However, Leonie has a secret, ten years ago she was involved in a hit-and-run accident where the other driver died. Ever since, the guilt has kept her up at night. Leonie doesn’t feel like she deserves anything she has. As Leonie’s wedding to Markus draws closer, it seems like someone is out to get her. It appears someone knows her secret and wants to make her pay.
Miranda Rijks is an auto-read author for me. She did not disappoint with this one. She provides lots of twists and turns, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. The only thing I didn’t love about this story was the ending. It was a little flat for me. For that reason, I give it 4/5 stars. I listened to the audiobook version and the narration by Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch was amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers!

Make Her Pay follows Leonie who is involved in a hit and run when she is a teenager with the help of her father and her decision to run is seemingly coming back to haunt her.
I really enjoyed this one! Although, it is a bit predictable because where are pretty aware of everything that is going on the whole time I still found myself enjoying the twists and the direction the story went. I wasn’t a huge fan of how neatly everything wrapped up I still had a lot of fun with this thriller full of revenge and

Oh this is twisty! Our girl has been harboring guilt over an incident that happened when she was 16. Our other girl was harmed in an incident when she was young as well. They live wildly different lives but as the story goes on you see the connections.
I loved the narration!

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It’s a short book (the book is around 280 pages), I really love how the author knows exactly how long to make this book. Because the book wasn’t longer it kept being fast-paced and really wanted me to finish the book as soon as possible. The story is about Leonie who had a car accident where she hit someone and left that person laying there.
In this book you’ll discover more and more about the story and it will keep you excited to finish it, because you really want to know what happened in the end.
I did not see the plottwist coming!
The writing style made me think of Freida McFadden’s thrillers, which I love, so from now on I’ll definitely read more book by Miranda Rijks!

4⭐️
One girl’s crime covered up. Another woman’s obsession with revenge.
Leonie is guilted by her past and tries hard to live a normal independent life as if that horrible night never happened. She doesn’t feel worthy of love until she meets Markus and everything seems to fall beautifully in place. Maybe she can finally move on from her past and allow herself to enjoy the good things in her life. But are the good things really as good as they seem?
This was a fun domestic drama/suspense. I audibly gasped multiple times as I listened. This hovered around 4-4.5 stars throughout, but the ending felt a bit bland compared to the rest of the book. This gave me Sally Hepworth vibes (which I loved!). Great narration!

This is one of my favorite authors! While this book moved a little slow I absolutely love it! The main character had an accident ten years before and her dad didn’t allow her to report it. This causes her a lot of anxiety and guilt. The survivor of the incident is out for revenge and does a great job at getting it. do wish her groom had a more fitting death for a scumbag. While a frying pan is great I felt it was a little quick and easy for such a terrible man.

Secrets, revenge, and best laid plans....
Leonie is in her twenties, has a good job, and her future looks bright. But not everything in her life is picture perfect - Leonie has a deep dark horrible secret! Ten years ago, she fled the scene of an accident that took a life. She is full of guilt, shame, and remorse, and hopes no one ever learns her secret....
She is planning a life with Markus and has no idea that there is someone who knows her secret. Someone who wants to see Leonie pay for what she has done. Someone who wants to destroy her. As things begin to occur, they are little at first. Just enough to make Leonie go "huh?" and are annoying but fixable, but then things begin to take a turn for the worse, much, much worse.
I listened to the audiobook and found the narration to be enjoyable. This book kept me on my toes, wanting more and wondering when the next shoe would drop. As suspense and tension ramped up, I was fully invested, thinking I knew everything and still managing to be shocked.
I enjoyed this well written, twist filled book. Miranda Rijks delivered, and I look forward to reading what she writes next!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I also think the narrator did a great job. There was some romance which I wasn’t expecting. But after that, it was all thriller. I was not a fan of Leonies father. He didn’t ask her once how she was doing. He covered up her crime which basically ruined her life. She’s had to live with guilt her whole life. When will the nightmare end? Who wants to make her pay for what she did? I was not expecting the ending. It was a twist I did not see coming!

Well, that was a quick, fun read. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me listen to this audiobook. Both of the narrators were fantastic, and they had a rough job, because these were two unlikable main characters.
But there were mysteries and secrets and revenge, and even though a lot of it was predictable, I had a good time and I liked the ending. I'm excited to read more by this author now

A 16 year old Leonie (while sneaking out to see her unofficial "boyfriend") gets into an accident after being chased by her father. Her father forces her to leave without reporting the incident, so that she won't ruin her future and tarnish "his good name". 10 years later, life seems to be going great for Leonie- her career is going well and she believes she has met the "love of her life" , however her secret of what happened 10 years ago has been haunting her ever since.
The overall premise of the book is asking "How far would you go to get revenge?"
This book is told in two povs by two extremely flawed female main characters, who are both tied to each other in quite an interesting way.
Overall, I found the story to be thrilling and it kept me engaged the entire time, although the twists were pretty basic. I definitely would have enjoyed the story quite a bit more if any of the characters were even remotely likeable. The parents are so insufferable, but honestly even the protagonist is annoying. I hated the last chapter & found that final plot point to be extremely unnecessary and would have rather had a happier ending for Leonie (even if I find her annoying) after everything.

What felt like a romance, eventually became a revenge popcorn thriller
Leonie’s father helps her cover up a childhood crime and since then, she’s been in his debt. When she falls in love with Marcus, she sees an opportunity for independence (yup not much of a feminist)
Once the romance part is done with (first third of the book) we get into the thrills which are cute, twisty but OTT and fairly basic
The only strong emotions I felt were my hatred for Leonie’s parents - he literally ruined his daughter’s life by covering up her crime and her mum stood by and watched
I’d recommend this as an easy, vacation-sit-by-the-pool read but I felt is was missing depth and real shock factor
This is my second read by this author, and maybe her books are just not for me as I’m definitely in the minority with my lower rating (seriously, the Goodread reviews were obsessed!)
Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for access to this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review

Make Her Pay is a cautionary tale of what can happen when you over protect your child and cover up their mistakes. The implications can haunt you years down the road.
How far would you go to seek revenge?
Maria Rijks takes revenge to a whole other level in her latest book. From two extremely flawed female protagonists POV, this cleverly constructed and layered novel, with a cast if compelling characters will have you on the edge of your seat throughout the book.
It's faced paced with short chapters. I finished it in a few hours. The narration by @narrator.ella
and Charlie Albers was perfection.
You won't want to miss out on this one.
A big thanks to Miranda Rijks , I'm a big fan of your books.
Partial synopsis:
Leonie has the perfect life. Someone wants to take it away.
Leonie is living her best life. Still in her twenties, she’s beautiful, successful, and has just met , the man of her dreams.
Markus
But Leonie has a secret. Ten years ago, she was involved in an accident in which another driver died. Leonie shouldn’t have been behind the wheel that night – no license, no insurance – so she fled the scene. And ever since, she’s been struggling to deal with the terrible guilt.
Thank you to Netgally and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy. My review was voluntary.

Really enjoy books by this author. An accident that effects someone years later.. why and who else was involved?
Love getting the opportunity to read books early!!
