The book F*ckboys by Heidi Stark tells the story of Fallon Dempsey, a woman who turns her heartbreak into a mission to help other women escape from toxic relationships. Along with her partner, Grave, Fallon runs a personal empowerment business where they assist vulnerable women in seeking revenge against their abusers.

However, things take a turn when Fallon encounters Aksel King, a man who broke her heart and has connections to the criminal underworld. As her past and present collide, Fallon's quest for justice becomes increasingly dangerous, threatening to consume her entirely.

The story is fast-paced and full of unexpected twists that will keep readers on their toes. The characters are complex, and their motivations are well-developed, making it easy to become invested in their journeys.

Heidi Stark has crafted a compelling tale that explores themes of love, revenge, forgiveness, and redemption. The book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a thrilling and emotionally charged romance novel. Overall, F*ckboys is an excellent book that will leave readers satisfied and wanting more.

I was able to push through to Chapter seven…….however am not able to push through anymore.

This cover and title are amazing…….but the actual story of the book is leaving me hanging. The FMC seems to be angry and taking her anger out on all men……not a good look ma’am.

I just can’t!

This is a contemporary dark romance, Following the perspective of Fallon and Aksel. It has several tropes including second chance and enemies to lovers. I thought that this story was very character driven, it was made up of so much of Fallon and Aksel thoughts, emotions, and their focus in the story. Fallon had it very rough in so many ways: her family, Aksel and some events that happened after, so I really empathize with a number of things she is struggling with in this story. Fallon was definitely all over the place and hard to get a read on so angry one second lashing out at everyone trying to be sympathetic and friendly the next.
Overall, this book was not for me, I had several things come up in this book that I struggled with. One was the repetitiveness that was happening in multiple areas such as Fallon’s thought process. She goes back and forth about her getting betrayed and angry or should she move on, sometimes it happened several times in one chapter and Askel's character was very similar. There was also quite a bit of repetitiveness in some of the events that happened between characters and Fallon kept doing the same type of destruction behavior.
I think that this book could have been shortened, it was about one hundred/ one hundred and fifty pages too long. There were several chapters that did not add to the plot, romance, suspense or drama that was happening, which could have been just left out.
Another thing that came up was certain things were left out. There was a conversation that happened between Fallon and Aksel but as the reader we never got anything that was said and all of a sudden Fallon was angry and betrayed again and I was really confused. The flow of the writing and timeline were off some.
Trigger warnings.
I received an ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

I thought from the cover this was going to be a very smutty mafia romance read about a fuckboy, maybe about several fuckboys given the plural, maybe a reverse harem situation with all these fuckboys 🤷🏼‍♀️

The book is actually about the FMC’s self help seminar she runs on protecting yourself from fuckboys, which is really just a front for her underground vigilante business targeting said fuckboys that she runs on the side, all while plotting her revenge fantasy over her ex.

Very cool premise, it had such great potential, but I am left feely very conflicted about it. There was some really good character development, and deep exploration of complicated family dynamics, which unfortunately came at the expense of pace and overarching plot consistency.

The first half of this book has a lot of plot development around her business and client meetings, and explores both characters family dynamics quite thoroughly. There were quite a lot of small storylines that were not necessary to the overall story, in a way that took away from the MC’s relationship storyline.

I will be very transparent here - I found the rest of the book very hard to read. It was really well written overall, and I did really like the style of writing but what was missing for me was a consistent overarching storyline, and the characters lack of conviction in their choices.

The nature of the characters relationships constantly change, not just the MCs, but familial relationships too. One minute they’re close and the next there’s some history and unresolved issues that didn’t seem to be a problem in the previous chapter. They flip flop back and forth so much, I thought I’d accidentally skipped pages…actually went back a few times to make sure that wasn’t the case.

One minute they’re so in love and obsessed with each other, want to be together forever and bone for two days straight, then literally 2 pages later they’re consumed by not being able to ever trust each other and fuming at their past betrayal. And this happens over and over again with a culmination of “as long as we have each other it’s ok” resolution…but then it’s not ok again…but also he never betrayed her? It feels a bit unfounded and would have loved a scene where they fully explored that in conversation. It was left feeling unresolved, while other plot points had a hasty and convenient resolution in the end.

For anyone who has experienced a covert "player" - the magnetism of narcissistic love bombs that leave you reading, either as friends or more - yea revenge would be sweet, with some support, wink wink. The trials of male/female moving from the past of miscommunication and hurt feelings. All intertwined in a unique read.

An intense book at times with a strong female lead who is working through her past trauma. This is explained the further you get into the story. Fallon Dempsey the main female character is running a company that helps women overcome the F*CKBOYS or men that have come in and destroyed their lives. Hers included. You are taken on a journey through her life and how she continues to work through her issues by helping other women but at the same time still not finding what she needs herself. Along the way, she runs into her old love or what she thought was love Askel King and here the story between them takes a turn that is very difficult to describe, for she has many emotions and they all come to the surface when they are together good and bad. There is sex and some dark scenes but everything goes with the story. I must say I found myself understanding where she came from being a male older and with sisters and four daughters I could understand her plight. Overall a good book with good characters.

I really struggled to read this book. I couldn't really make heads of tails of the story at all. It was a bit like a picture book but with every page been puzzles that had pieces missing. It was a very confusing read for me and I really have nothing to take from it than a lot of the fmc behaviour to be very dramatic and erratic.
