Meh. I went into this knowing it's now a genre or trope that I'm interested in, but gave it a shot anyway. It's just not for me. However, I do know quite a few friends who would LOVE this and I'll be recommending it to them asap!

I am not usually a fan of post apocalyptic type stories, but this one sounded like it was taking a more humorous approach and I did enjoy that. There were few spots where I got lost in what was happening, but otherwise it was a fun ride.

4 stars

A fun story about two apocalypse survivors figuring out how to survive and how to feel. The characters are complete opposites, causing all sorts of misunderstandings!

*Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to review an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Thank you to Netgalley and Yuzu Comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga. This was an interesting story when it came to the apocalypse and a boy's love story. I think its most definitely a softer story but there are some sexy scenes. I also think there should have been more to it than there was. Overall, though, I would be curious to see what other people thought. Because of these points, I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

There’s a special place in my heart for comedic BLs. I did enjoy parts of this book, but I didn’t enjoy it as a whole. It’s… too comedic, if that makes sense. It felt like every page or two had to be a punchline. The characters are also way too stupid and their misunderstandings aren’t endearing or cute or even funny. If you pick it up, it’s an okay read, so I’d give it 2.5 stars because I wouldn’t reread this again.

Thanks Netgalley for my e-ARC!

This was a fun and cute read, showing survival after a natural disaster/apocalypse between two strangers who may develop feelings for each other. Our main characters are from very different worlds yet somehow get on very well and are lovely to follow.

Nuowan Qian, a spoiled billionaire heir meets Yu Sen, a former soldier working as a waiter, just as the apocalypse hits. Unprepared for the survivalist lifestyle, Yu’s survivalist skills are Nouwen’s best bet for surviving the wild. With news of other survivors, Nuowan is eager to find them, but Yu is reluctant. Meeting other survivors spurs them to probe their feelings about the relationship. Will they get over the misunderstandings?

"Loving You When the World Ended" is equal parts adorable and hilarious, a slow-paced and non-spicy BL romance. An ambiguous apocalypse takes out humanity in this zero realism end of the world BL.
1. The ambiguity of the plot: What triggered the apocalypse, how they spent the year after, and the network magically coming online (very sus).
2. A year jump, like really? A few panels from that year to establish a deeper solidarity between the protagonists would have gone a long way. Their contradictory personalities create chemistry that wasn’t fully exploited, leaving it feeling caricaturish and rushed.
3. Calling Yu a pervert for kissing a guy? Even as a joke that felt off. As did the ‘I am not gay but my boyfriend is’ vibe and use of non-consensual scenes to inspire jealousy.

While the premise's originality, the visually appetizing artwork, and the comedic tone engaged the reader; a lack of details, an underdeveloped romantic arc, and plot inconsistencies made it a skippable read.

Trigger Warning: cannibalism (off-page), PTSD references, dubious consent panels.
Thank you NetGalley and Media Do International, Inc. | YUZU Comics for the temporary e-ARC.

Thank you so much for letting me read this manga. This is a cute funny take on how different people could react to the end of the modern world. And an adorable Lovestory.

First; Thanks to NetGalley, the Author and the Publisher for this ARC

It's pretty cute and funny, but I was hoping that there would be more plot with what had happened, more of the in-between and the year they spend together and possibly more (bedroom) action?
I would have like more dept both in their relation, the why and how of the apocalypse and all of the characters.
The twist in the end was fun, but could have used more debt.

It was a fun and easy read though.

This was a DNF. This book starts with a prissy man getting in a fight with his girlfriend while the room service waiter is setting the table. The girlfriend storms off, there’s a big explosion and now we’re in the apocalypse. The room service waiter who is military is taking care of the trillionaires son and things are not going well. Nuowan doesn’t want to live if life isn’t easy and he doesn’t have access to money. While in the first few pages Nuowan kissed the server now three days later when the server kisses Nuowan, Nuowan, calls him a pervert and runs off, almost killing himself because they’re in a ten-story building, and he’s forgotten it in Apocalypse. I find this is an enemies-to-lovers book. I have no desire to get there. I think the repetitiveness of the server being called a pervert, just for kissing a guy doesn’t make me want to see them together in the end. So this book is a no thank you.

I really liked this. It had some darker undertones which I very much liked but it was also really funny. The mc was a hilarious man baby that just had no clue what he was doing the whole time and I loved that about him. He wanted to help but he just sucked at it. The ml was also great. He had this very serous outward vibe but inside be was such a softy and really just needed a hug. Everything about this manga was just a fun romp and that was exactly what I wanted.

It's pretty cute and funny tbh. I was hoping that there would be more plot with what had happened and possibly more action? To make it more fun and engaging, apocalyptic BL series. Anyway, I do hope there will be another volume continuing this.

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me this eArc for an open and honest review.

Even though there was a one year lapse, it definitely felt very instalovey. I would’ve liked a little more build up. The artwork was good. Interesting set up. Just not my cup of tea.

Imagine waking up after the apocalypse with the guy you randomly kissed to make your girlfriend mad! This post apocalypse story is (mostly) humorous and fun! The differences in the characters personalities really bring out their chemistry and make the book hard to put down once you’ve started it. There was quite a few non-con scenes for such a short manga and it doesn’t take any of them too seriously, which matches the overall tone of the story, but still had me cringing a little bit. Overall I’d say it was a fun time but not something I’d rush to pick up.

Civilization ends for Nuowan Qian and thankfully he's in the company of Yu who is a former soldier and can help him survive. I found the story interesting. Nuowan is not really cut out for the survivalist lifestyle but he's got Yu there to help him there are trials and tribulations as well as many misunderstandings. This is a BL manga so there's also that aspect of their relationship but I enjoyed the journey that they went on emotionally trying to connect through very difficult circumstances.

This was... interesting.

The world suddenly blows up, and Yu and Nuowan are the only two people left in the world. At least, that's what they believe for a while. Not sure how they survived when every single person around them died. Yu tries to keep Nuowan alive, develops feelings for him, and then they run into another human being.

Strange things occur.

more like a 3.5*
The premise of the story is interesting but I think the time jump of 1 year without showing is a bit odd. at least a few scenes over that year would establish a better relationship between them. I like the dynamic between them but I feel it was a bit rushed everything I wish we had spent more time with them since the action is all compact in a few days.

The story was good, but the execution was questionable. There were several plot holes, several issues with consent, and a convulsed narration that could have been much better. I liked the story, the characters, and some points it made, but when looking at the finished product I wasn't satisfied with what it was. I do want to give the author another try, however.

Loving You When the World Ended is a light read set in an apocalyptic world. I like the dynamics of the two main characters. It could've been an enjoyable read if it weren't for some consent-related issues and questionable scenes.
