Will definitely handsell for summer reading; especially with quite a large queer audience of readers at our store, this will do well. Great cover too.

This book was just ok for me. An enjoyable read, but nothing exceptional. I think the characters were well developed if difficult to really empathize with. As with many a romance novel, the side characters were some of the best. This often keeps me going when I find the main couple too much. This is meant to be a journey of self discovery, and it played out that way. It was predictable, but therein lies the comfort of a romance. I think the thing that fell the flattest for me was the spice. This book is quite focused on sexuall experience, but I found the spice a bit dull and flatly written. I'm not entirely sure what was lacking, but it just wasn't ever exciting or tension filled enough. Overall an ok romance that hits all the traditional romance beats without offering anything great.

3.5 rounded up

This was a heartfelt, raw, honest and relatable story about discovering your sexuality later in life and the struggles of being in a meaningful relationship where the two people have different end goals. Encouraged to go out and experience more queer and Sapphic love hook-ups, newly out, Bette embarks on a life changing adventure that sees her losing her first real girlfriend and discovering more of what makes her truly happy. Great on audio and highly recommended for fans of The L word tv series. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

I loved this book so, so much. It was such an insular world that didn't feel stuck. I liked the group of characters and the different dynamics between them. I loved Ruth so much and thought Bette was charming enough to carry the story. I always want more books focused on queer women who are (and act) older than 25 and this really hit the spot for me.
