First of all, thank you to NetGalley for this ARC opportunity!

Chelsea Ichaso's gripping story unfolds in the picturesque setting of Clearwater Ridge, where the disappearance of Paige Redmond's best friend, Audrey Covington, sets off a chain of mysterious events. Set against the backdrop of lazy summer days and opulent vacation homes, the story delves into the complexities of friendship and the dark secrets of a seemingly idyllic town.

As someone who typically shies away from audiobooks, due to being particular about the voices I like to listen to, "The Summer She Went Missing" narrated by Amy McFadden completely exceeded my expectations. Amy McFadden's narration was amazing, seamlessly fitting the characters with a pace that kept me engrossed throughout. Moreover, the brief but unobtrusive indication of chapters made for a smooth listening experience, allowing the story to flow naturally.

Ichaso kept me guessing until the very end, which made "The Summer She Went Missing" so enjoyable for me. I found myself eagerly trying to piece together the puzzle alongside the characters.

Whether you're a fan of audiobooks or prefer the traditional printed format, this is a story that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for an advanced copy of this audiobook.
This is a nice teen mystery. It was fast and easy to listen to, and I finished it in 2 days because it really got me hooked. I do think that some of the characters could have been more detailed or deeply explored, and that the ending/culprit arc should have been more developed, though. But all in all, I enjoyed this novel.

I am not sure why there has been an explosion of books about girls who ride horses...But anway, it was your typical YA novel. It was not completely predictable, but the story had a happy ending and it was interesting. There were quite some twists, however, the novel's characters are a bit unrelatable. Not many young adults live this type of lifestyle; however, I think just as we watch the Khardashians, people will be drawn to this lifestyle and read this thriller. It will keep you reading.

First I would like to thank RB Media for providing me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Paige, high school student, who spends the summers in a vacation town, Clearwater Ridge, with her best friend Audrey and her family. During the last summer Audrey starts pulling away from Paige while she gets closer to Audrey's brother Drew. The summer ends with nobody being able to find Audrey and Paige blames herself for not knowing what Audrey had been doing all summer. The next summer, Audrey still has yet to be found and Paige comes back to Clearwater Ridge with her only goal to find what happened to Audrey. As Paige and Drew work together they find out a lot about the people in town and see the darker side of the summer crowd.

What I Liked:
- Audiobook, this was a great quality audiobook the narrator does a great job with all of the different characters and building the suspense in the perfect moments
- Twist, when you figure out what happened to Audrey and who took her I reacted out loud in my car where I was listening
- Shady side of nice vacation down, you always hear about the darker side of these vacation towns and I really appreciate how much time the author takes to really bring that to light and how the vacationers are the ones that make it shady

This was a good easy listen with a lot of good twists and turns, a great set of characters and I continued to this about it after I was finished, trying to figure out what I missed and how I was tricked. Overall if you are looking for a young adult mystery/thriller with typical teen experiences and a side of kidnapping then this is a great book to check out.

Clearwater Ridge is a stunning place. If it were not for didappearing girls. One of these is Audrey whos friend Paige doesn't want her case to turn cold. This is why she and Dylan, Audrey's brother, try on their own to find aout what happened. In my humble opinion this is quite a gripping YA mystery with perfect pace!
Amy McFadden does a great job in narrating this story!
Thank you #NetGalley #Tantor Audio for this audiobook

A good YA mystery. This started slow for me, however I quickly became invested in the story. Definitely filled with teenage frustrations and brought me back to high school days. The audio version was an easy listen.

MY REVIEW:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This turned out to be a great story. At first, I wasn't quite sold. I was looking for a YA thriller and felt like I got a YA romance by accident. (That's what I get for going in blind and cover judging πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚).

It eventually takes a 90 degree turn and falls straight into a mystery of the not on, but 2 missing girls. One who happens to be Paiges' best friend. While she trys to mend her last summer relationship with her best friends brother; Dylan AND employ him to help find her on the DL from the parents and the police....
This story unfolds in so many shapes and forms, it definitely keeps you guessing whodunit!

Definitely recommend this YA summer listen!

I wanted more from this thriller. I never really felt a sense of urgency while reading it and the ending didn't leave me speechless.

If you like a gripping YA mystery involving a missing girl, this is for you! The story is fast-paced and kept me interested as the plot unfolded. Is Audrey a victim who tragically disappeared under mysterious circumstances, or is something more sinister at play? I enjoyed the alternating POVs and timelines. The narration added a layer of intensity as the twists started to accumulate. Most of the twists were hard to predict, adding suspense and tension. Thank you, NetGalley and Tantor Audio for my audiobook.

This was a quick read, starting with the summer a girl goes missing then skipping forward to a year later where the investigation has dwindled and leads have gone cold. I liked the snippets of story from the point of view of 'The Girl' and the way things unfolded to become bigger than one person.

The main character Paige is seventeen for most of the book, yet sometimes she acted bratty or naively and it made her seem more like fourteen. The jealousy over Dylan seemed ridiculous and Paige did get caught up in some teen drama, but I guess she is young and in no way a seasoned investigator. It just wasn't my favorite part.

The mystery was interesting and further reaching than I had guessed. The ending was a bit unbelievable, but not a bad wrap up overall.

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job embodying a teen girl and changed her voice enough to help differentiate some of the characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to Tantor Audio and NetGalley for the copy.

Thank you Netgalley for this arc!
I haven’t read a mystery book in a while, and this book made me realize why i enjoy them so much. This book had so many twists and turns that i didn’t see coming. I honestly enjoyed how this book had such good summer vibes. This book had good pacing and i looked forward to finding out the mystery. This was a classic β€œlooking a for a missing girl” mystery, but it had some unique aspects. It wasn’t mind blowing or anything, but it was a fun read and i was invested.

Wow, did this book have a chokehold on me. I always enjoy books where the characters need to solve the mystery on their own. I picked this book alone for the description of the book. It reminded me a lot of The Good Girls Guide To Murder! What I enjoyed the most was how it kept me engaged and wanting more. Every time Paige started to lean toward a different suspect, I was right there with her.

The book is about two families who vacation together every summer. Paige the main character, looks forward to summer because of Audrey and Dylan. Every summer they spend together the closer they get. Audrey and Paige are best friends who are always together until one summer changes everything. Paige has always had a crush on Dylan, and this year he is showing the same interest. Audrey starts acting weird and changing plans with Paige to where they are almost strangers. Then all of a sudden, Audrey goes missing and no one knows where she is. This is where everyone’s lives start to change and they grow apart.

As the book develops you continue to get wrapped up in each character's lives and the journey they go on. By the end of the book, I thought every character that was involved was well-developed and made me love most of them. The ones I didn’t like, I just felt bad for them because of who they were deep down as a person.

Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to participate in listening to this ARC book! Thank you, Chelsea Ichaso, for writing such a well-developed book with a great storyline! I was truly engaged the whole time! Thank you, Amy McFadden, who narrated the book. You delivered the book with engaging tones that helped make the book even more thrilling!

It is written down but it's not *written*, you know. Something is missing from between the lines.

The last summer part happens so quikcly that I don't really care about Paige and Dylan's relationship. And they still don't really make me care when they're trying to reconnect throughout the book.

There are kind of a lot of new people popping up as suspects. Doesn't really let the reader connect the dots because many of the dots are not even present. This can be done well, like A Good Girl's Guide To Murder also plays around with putting the blame on people, but that makes sense at the end. Here I think some more development would've been benefitial, just going a bit more in depth.

It's clear that the story is mapped out very well and the author knows where the lines should lead. But can you share more of it with the class😭

Thinking of Audrey in different ways was interesting, love me some unreliable narration. The realest thing about the whole story was Paige's devotion and confusion towards her. Dylan's devotion was also cute actually. It would translate better on screen, cinematography would elevate the story BY A LOT.

The concluding action was good, the reveal and the "dungeon". After that everything felt unticlimactic.

Would recommend for people who have book hangover after finishing the agggtm series <3

This book was so good. It gave The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Good Girls Guide to Murder in all of the best ways. The small town vibes were great and really added to the uneasy feel of the storyline. I really loved Paige and Dylan and seeing them come together to solve the mystery of Audrey. I liked how the plot played out and the who who did it. I just wish there was a bit more after it all. But overall, super enjoyable, really liked!

Thanks to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for the ARC of The Summer She Went Missing.

I loved this audiobook. Amy McFadden was a perfect fit for Paige's character and personality.

This book starts as very The Summer I Turned Pretty, without the whole both brothers chasing the same girl bit. Audrey- Paige's best friend has an older brother that is finally returning Paige's attention, but last summer Audrey went missing which quashed any budding romance between her and Dylan. Told from the past summer's and the current summer's perspectives.

Dylan and Paige feel as though not enough was done by the police to investigate Audrey's disappearance, so they start to look into why she might have gone missing themselves. But getting closer to Audrey puts them in more danger.

This book takes twists and turns you will not see coming and had me guessing who contributed to Audrey's disappearance until the end, as secrets are slowly unearthed along the way. These secrets lead further and further into the underbelly of this beautiful beach town. This book was such a fast read for me- I could not stop listening.

One thing that Ichaso did incredibly well was the romance subplot. These can really annoy me when I am reading as it distracts from the actual problems abounding though the main plot line. This romance subplot did not do this, and nor was it annoying. In fact both Paige and Dylan would frequently cast their own feelings aside for the good of finding Audrey.

I would recommend this to any YA mystery reader. Especially the audiobook version.

The Summer She Went Missing is a perfect summer read for fans of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. There are twists and turns and I honestly could not see the ending coming! Reading as an adult, there are times when the teenage character's angst is just too much. But it is a good investigative story that will keep you hooked until the end.

This was my first read by this author so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. As it turns out, I was a little bit worried, but I shouldn’t have been. This book was really good and I found myself surprised by the ending. Definitely not something that happens on the regular.

After the last two thrillers I read were a bit of a bust, I wasn’t sure where this one was going to land with me. Would I like it or would I be annoyed by it like the others? So when this one started, I expected the clues and red herrings to be meterly doled out like the others. BUT with this one, it was much different. The story was just told and the twists kept coming. I did figure one thing out, but the huge twist on why was crazy. And let me just say, that one girl was brave af because how she was doing this was mind-blowing. And because of that, you’ll be so focused on her, that you won’t see the real culprit coming. Or at least I didn’t. I was too preoccupied. And with that being said, it felt like it came out of nowhere. And I loved that. Every time an author can get me, I love the book a little bit more. Because with the amount of thrillers and horror I read, I can usually always catch it. So this time when I didn’t, I was happy.

The characters were kind of weird. The main character and her missing best friend’s brother finally got together and they were the ones trying to solve this murder. And while that’s not unusual, I found it weird that they were doing this right after he ghosted her. I am all for second chances, but they didn’t even have a first chance and he messed it up. And then she went back to him? No. And like, Audrey, all this secrecy over THAT? All of that could have been avoided. But like, bffr you had a whole like other phone with a bookshelf covering it? You knew all of it was wrong and you still did it smh

I did feel like the ending was rushed tho. It was like they found who it was and then it was like the epilogue. She didn’t show how the one person reacted when the other person showed up. They didn’t show how that one person felt after what they did, nothing. And I know it’s a me thing, but that annoyed me lol I want to know how that person felt and what they thought of everything in that moment too. And while I get it, it was probably just supposed to be focused on Audrey and Paige, I wanted to know more and like maybe take in the scene with them. It was more of a telling what’s happening vs showing us and me putting myself in the story if that makes sense.

The narrator gave a good performance. I don’t remember just absolutely loving it, but it wasn’t bad. In fact I remember thinking that she had to be new because she sounded a bit nasally. But as it turns out, she has a really extensive backlist. And looking at what she’s done, I can’t believe even with her huge catalog, I was still able to miss her. So looks like I have some catching up to do now.

This was a super cute and actually thrilling book. I was a bit worried because I had never read this author before, but I have to say, I looked up what other books they have and I’m ready to get my hands on the other thrillers written by Ichaso.
