📌 “This is my first birthday with you. It’s already the best.”

Dear Lucy,

Just between us two, here where no one can hear us… What’s her middle name? This is a safe place. You can tell me. Seriously. WHAT’S HER MIDDLE NAME?! I’m losing my mind here 🤯 please. Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeee. I have tacos 🌮👀

Also, I’m manifesting 100 more Riley Thorn books and a detective you-know-who + you-know-who best friend book. Like really manifesting. Pretty please, cherry on top manifesting. Because these books are everything that was missing in my life and I had no idea.

I’m laughing countless times.
I’m coming home with each book.
I’m rooting for these flawed characters so fiercely that you might think they’re my own family and friends.

This summer do yourself a favor and pick up this series. It’s funny, 🥵, with tons of heart and a whole lot of mystery. 👏🏼

Wow! Am I ever impressed. This is my first Lucy Score book I have ever read, and I absolutely loved it. This book is the third in a series, and I jumped right in, but it was easy to pick up and follow and not only that but it was highly enjoyable. I want to go back and read the other 2 books now to see what I have missed. The writing style being so down to earth and straight to the point had me hooked. There was just enough romance in the book to make It spicy but not overwhelming with the mystery going on behind it. The characters are hilarious and flow together perfectly. I would recommend this book, let alone the series in a heartbeat to anyone.

All Lucy Score books make me laugh, she has the “ridiculous romantic comedy with some crime mixed in” genre dialed in. One thing I enjoy about these books and this series in particular is how unpredictable they are with twists I don’t see coming. I found this book to be an easy fast read. My only regret was I requested it and didn’t realize it was book 3, when I hadn’t read book 2 in the series yet.

Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and the publisher for sending this arc in exchange for an honest review.

The Blast From the Past follows Riley and Nick on their journey as new home owners, but with a twist. Beth, the missing sister of Weber, is back. She has a crazy story of being kidnapped and having amnesia, but her story has many holes. Nick and Riley are trying to navigate their relationship since Nick is quite preoccupied with Beth and her story. Oh, and Riley’s psychic abilities are having trouble, especially around Beth.

These books are definitely a laugh out loud situation. All of the characters mesh together so well and bring out the giggles for sure. I like Wander a lot. I hope we get to see more of her in the next book! Also, Mrs. Penny is a character for sure… haha.

I love Nick and Riley together. Nick and Riley have an interesting relationship. I am waiting for their relationship to develop further, as I feel like they haven’t had time to just be a couple with all the mysteries taking place. I feel like they balance one another out.

I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

Honestly, I don't know how Lucy does it, but this book is even funnier than the last. Like the first book, the first page is outrageous. Without fail, it's always some wild opening. Reading this series is like watching a sitcom.

The characters are unique and hilarious as hell. Mrs . Penny kills me. I literally thrive to be her when I'm old. The flabby arms part had me on the ground.

Riley and Nick have returned in this new book. Nick is determined to find Beth, who has been missing for six years after Riley's grandmother tells him she is still alive. However, Nick's obsession with finding Beth is causing him to neglect his business, the never-ending tasks involved in repairing their fix-it-up mansion, and even Riley.

The whole crew embarks on a fun-filled adventure related to the past. These books are not only entertaining but also full of laughter. The characters are unique, and the story follows them closely. This book is the third in the series but can be read as a standalone.

Thank you Bloom Books and Netgalley for providing me with this ARC.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is my favorite Lucy Score series!! I read this in a day and now I absolutely cannot wait for the next one!!

In this installment Nick and Riley and still trying to find Beth! Now that Nick knows Beth is alive somewhere he becomes obsessive over finding her! Will he and Riley manage to make things work? And will their elderly neighbors finally leave them alone?

These books are funny and the best cozy mysteries and I will never stop recommending them!

4/5 stars!

I really enjoyed the writing in this story and I will say I didn’t realize this was in a series when requesting this arc
But it did take me a minute then I figured out what was going on. But the main character and boyfriend were very cute and who doesn’t love a dog sidekick in Burt.
I did have a hard time connecting to the wide variety of characters and there seemed to be so much going on but I did find it fun and entertaining. I do plan on picking up the others and then connecting any dots I’ve missed.

I have really enjoyed this series. It is full of a rag tag group, and mischief is always just around the corner. There is romance, but it’s not a smashed in your face kind of thing. More than anything this series is fun, and laugh out loud funny. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for something light and a little silly.

Thank you to netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advance copy to read.

I love Lucy Scores writing so couldn't wait to start this.

Sadly I didn't realise it was the third in a series (completely my fault). I enjoyed the book but think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the rest of the series. I'm going to go back and read books 1 and 2.

Scores books are always an easy romcom choice for me.

The Blast from the Past is the third book in Lucy Score’s Riley Thorn series and is an absolutely quirky delight to read.

I loved the cast of chaotic characters, the fun storyline and the books over-the-top writing style. The story is a mix of a cosier style mystery, with a little romance and a lot of humour. I enjoyed the touch of paranormal as well, with Riley’s psychic abilities. I felt there was a nice balance between both Riley & Nick’s perspectives and they balanced each other nicely as characters and a couple in a relationship.

Full disclosure, I didn’t realise this was the third book in the series when starting it but I felt like it gave enough background to me as a reader to get up to speed and also pique my interest enough to go back and read the first two books.

Thank you to Bloom Books and Netgalley for gifting me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

The seamless blend of humor, romance, and mystery makes for a captivating read that is sure to delight both new and returning readers. You need to read books 1 and two I may come back to this one after reading them and like this more but it was just okay.

This series is the definition of a romantic comedy! So many twists and turns, ups and downs, and amazing writing and brilliant characters. I would definitely recommend this and to read this series in publication order to get the absolute best reading experience!

This is probably more like a 2.5 stars I'm rounding up. I read the first book and then Netgalley was nice enough to give me the 3rd, so I skipped the 2nd. It didn't seem necessary given that I caught up pretty quickly.

While the first book is fun and entertaining this one just feels little too silly. It's still fun and high energy and lots of things going on, but I found myself caring less because it just felt a bit too silly. I ended up skimming through the last 50% or so.

I LOVE Lucy Score's work typically but I probably wont continue with this particular series.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this review!

This series is fun, quick and delightful. It's a romantic comedy paranormal mystery with such awesome writing. The characters are funny, quirky and absolutely lovable. If you are looking for a book series that will make you laugh for hours this is it! It has such wonderful banter and I loved every second of it! Love this series!

This book had potential but the over the top stupidity of most of the characters is just so annoying and immature it kept pulling me out of the story. This reminded me of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series and it was close to having a similar kind of humor and character set but it really just fell short for me. I was intrigued enough throughout the book to continue reading it but at this point it feels like the story is going no where and even if it does have a destination, I don’t care anymore 😭
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for this arc

This is possibily the most bizarre book I have ever read which is both a positive and a negative.

To be completely fair to this book and the author, I have not read the first two Riley Thorn books, and unlike some other series I have read, this book does not stand well on its own because of the incredibly convoluted back story and massive cast of characters who it was very confusing at first to parse out how they even knew or were related to each other.

From what I gathered though, Riley Thorn is a psychic, her partner Nick Santiago runs a private detective agency, and for the past several years his best friend's sister Beth has been missing which has caused Nick to put nearly his entire life on hold and spend most of his resources on finding her. During this search for Beth, Riley loses her psychic powers and has to do her best to help Nick solve this without that valuble resource.

The very early surprise about Beth was definitely very surprising as well as incredibly silly. The entire book was incredibly silly and full of all sorts of various jokes, many of the juvenile variety, but not necessarily bad. Some of it was actually laugh out loud funny. My only complaint about the humor is there were so many random jokes and asides that sometimes it was hard to follow what was actually going on. I was also a little confused by the side quest jobs that the employees of Nick's detective agency were doing and I think those little side stories were primarily there just for the sake of showing how ridiculous all of these people are.

Overall I do like cozy, goofy mysteries that don't take themselves too seriously, and I likely need to read the other books that came first to fully appreciate this. It is cute though and I think the author Lucy Score is excellent for not being afraid to be silly.

Many thanks to Bloom Books and to NetGalley for this ARC to review. This review is my honest opinion.

This is the third book from the Riley Thorn series.

I just adore how unique yet incredible this series has been.
I LOVE that Riley is a literal black cloud with her unfortunate luck.
Nick is a little grumpier than normal as he pretty much obsesses over a cold case that continues to haunt him.
Riley and Nick's life together is far from normal although they make the BEST team. Nicks on the hunt for Beth who he now believes is not dead. Riley is coming to terms with her abilities and using them more generously. Mix in family personalities, the next-door geriatrics, pets and more... what a mix of characters.

This is just a feel good, mysterious adventure, with psychic abilities and talking ghosts sprinkled in. From the drama to the jokes, I was literally laughing out loud.
You won't be disappointed with this one, cannot wait for the next.

Thank you, Lucy Score, Sourcebooks, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for the honest review.
