After reading the author for the first time, I am at a point of wanting to read the author and everything I read by her I have enjoyed a lot.
This book specifically I didn't know it was part of a tetralogy (and I read this one without reading any of the previous ones), but I still had no problem following the plot. Although I do think it would have been ideal to read the other three books before reading this one (and I will), the author introduces you very well in the universe and you can follow even the romantic plot that comes from the first book. It's also easy, because even though the relationship is already established their plot in the book is introduced here.
The Lucy Score books are so fun to read! I love this series and flew through all of them so fast! These are perfect for summer. Really enjoyed them!
I didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as the other two but this is still a great series. The humor is just the best! I laugh out loud so much and it’s great. My favorite part of this was Mrs Penny. Got to love her. The next book should be an interesting one! So excited to start it!
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and the author Lucy Score. I loved every second of this four star novel. I read the first book in the series and if your into a good mystery you will enjoy The Blast From The Past.
I loved this just as much as the first in the series. Lucy Score never fails to make the readers laugh and have good time. This was fast paced and the romance was chef's kiss.
I just love Riley Thorn and company. I found this installment to be maybe a teeny bit less enthralling than the others, but I still highly recommend. I enjoyed that we got a bit more back story on Weber, and look forward to more of his involvement in the future books for sure. I am glad that we solved the Beth mystery. She was a fun addition to the crew, and I hope that we get to see more of her and Tommy in the future. I love how Lucy Score can create such a fun story with mystery but still tie it all together at the end! It was fun, flirty, and I cannot wait to read more about Riley and Nick and their supporting characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for this ARC!
The 3rd installment of the Riley Thorne series had me laughing so hard. Riley and Nick and the rest of the cast of quirky characters just make me smile. There were so many twists and turns in this book that it really kept me guessing! I am rally enjoying getting lost in this series.
Really recommend this series to anybody that needs a laugh and likes a good mystery mixed in with some romance
Reading the first two books in this series my my cheeks and face hurt because I laughed and smiled so much . This book my stomach hurt because it was so finny. From the banter, the quirky characters, the plot and everything in between was amazingly funny.
I do t know how you do it!!
This was a great book to pass my vacation at the river with. It is, what I would call, Romantic-Suspense Lite. Nothing to tax your brain over, perfect to drop into and out of. With all the interruptions of vacation time, I loved being able to pick up where I left off without losing the thread of the story. This plot thread has been hanging out there since the first book and I liked how Beth/ Sesame just crashed into everyone's life with the answers to her disappearance coming straight from a Hollywood Rom-Com. The humor, senior moments and doggy good times made this a fantastic summer read.
Riley Thorn's grandmother dearest dropped a bomb on her and her sexy private investigator boyfriend and Nick has been on a mission ever since. They have just moved into a derelict fixer upper, and all Nick can focus on is finding Beth, who disappeared without a trace six years ago. Riley is feeling mighty neglected, and She want the old Nick back, not this obsessed model. Nick is even ignoring current cases, and everyone has just about had it with him.
Mrs. Penny and the Senior gang from next door just don't seem to understand boundaries. Like a closed, locked door means they don't want visitors. But Mrs. Penny has some cases and in order to get everyone off his back, Nick agrees to take them on. A bully, a clown thief and a doggy doody bandit. Such fun!
Life gets really weird when Beth Weber shows up calling herself Sesame and looking like she won the lottery, but with a real thin explanation for where she has been for six years. When Riley tries to read her, her psychic abilities go on the fritz which leaves her in psychic limbo. Then a deadly warning is dropped on her doorstep, and it looks like Beth may have been up to no good for those six missing years.
With Halloween fast approaching and with it, Nick's birthday, Riley is bulldozed into a Halloween/Suprise Birthday Party. Believe me, nothing good comes from this situation. But Nick finally has his answers as to what Beth was up to for all those years, and it was indeed no good.
My thanks to the Publisher and Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
Another fun escape from Lucy Score and the ridiculous antics of Riley Thorn. There Burt and Gabe and all the neighbors in on this adventure, along with an odd smell coming from the closet. There’s a bully that needs to be put in his place, and the whole cast of characters from her previous novels. It’s just a fun wonky escape! Thanks to NetGalley for the read!
The only Lucy Score books I’ve read are the Knockemout series books, which I adored! I know those books have an element of mystery/thriller to them at times with the crime, so I was eager to read a book more centered around that. However, it just didn’t quite hit the same for me! Overall, it was well-written but it didn’t captivate my interest like others.
This whole series is just fun chaos. Nick & Riley, their senior adoptees, crazy families, and Burt- all integral parts of the chaos. The romance seemed to take a backseat in book 3 to what COULD have been a big drama/case, but instead ended up with me just feeling bad for Weber, Nick, and Riley and then being annoyed with said case personas and shaking my head at Nick.
I love any story from Lucy Score and this is no exception! I love that RIley and Nick are settling into their relationship more and more, while weaving intrigue into the story.
Another great addition to the Riley Thorn series. Did find this one a little slow at times. But, it still had a good premise and all of the characters readers have come to love from the series. I know there is one more book in the series coming out in July (and hopefully more after that), which I plan to read. Hoping we will finally find out where Gabe is from, because I am very curious. (Thanks to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for the ARC)
Lucy Score never disappoints. She has the perfect blend between a good character driven plot coupled with some spicy scenes and this one was no different. I really enjoyed it. It was funny and probably will go down as my favorite Lucy Score book so far. I really didn't want it to end because I loved all the characters so much. That's hard to find in a book. It is definitely well written and I highly recommend.
"The Blast From The Past" by Lucy Score is one of the funniest reads of the year. Lucy Score's characters are witty and quirky, making for a truly enjoyable experience. This action-packed comedy thriller keeps you hooked from the start. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series. Thank you Bloom Books for the advanced reader copy
The Blast From the Past is the 3rd installment in the Riley Thorn series. The psychic family, Nick’s grumpy mother and Weber’s crazy sister makes for a fun read.
I love Lucy Score's rom coms. And I love that this one was a mystery mixed with a rom com. My two favorite genres mixed into one.
If you're looking for a lighthearted read, "Blast from the Past" delivers with its comedy and quirky characters. While I was eagerly anticipating this storyline after enjoying the first two books in the series, I found the plot to be a bit too silly for my taste.
That said, the found family theme and the eclectic cast of characters kept me entertained. Lucy Score has a knack for creating endearing, if slightly over-the-top, personalities that bring a smile to your face.
Overall, if you're in the mood for a fun, feel-good book that doesn't take itself too seriously, this might just be the perfect pick.
***3.5
this was enjoyable. I loved the storyline of this book a lot better than the first two in the series. I guess its because we've already had the time to get to know the main cast of characters from the first and second book that when i started the third book, it felt familiar. I flew throw this book in a day and a half, thats how hooked i was. although the story was enjoyable and in loved getting to read about Raily and her band of friends, there were some parts of the story that I found myself dozing off to.
