When her husband Danny is accused of killing his best friend, can Ashley help uncover the truth?

Danny and Lisa have been best friends since they were children, but when Danny is found above Lisa’s body, full of her blood and a hammer in his hand - how else does it look?

Ashley is sure he’s innocent, but as the hours go by, she uncovers so many secrets he’s been keeping from her - is Danny capable of murder?

This book had me gripped from the first page, I really love AJ’s writing style that has such an effortlessly way to keep you gripped and feel as though you can totally relate to the story.

Interesting thriller with lots of twists and secrets. Plot driven storyline. Ashley and Danny both look so brilliant together at the start, but as the characters unfold, it quickly turns out that you can't know what's happening in someone's mind. Although I guessed the outcome, I enjoyed it. Recommended for the domestic thrillers fan. Thanks a lot to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the free copy of the book!!

This book was a quick, but awesome thriller read! I was guessing til the very end. While I could slightly predict WHO did it, I didn’t predict WHY or any of the details!! It had me wondering and questioning after I had finished!!

Overall this is a good, fast paced, entertaining thriller. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll say it felt anticlimactic. I binged read this, so it is enjoyable, and would still recommend.

I finished this book in one setting, it was full of twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting and even though I figured out who was the killer I was surprised by how the events unfolded. This was a fast paced psychological thriller that will keep you engaged and wondering why some things were happening.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The book was very fast paced and I enjoyed most parts except for the ending, it was unconvincing and felt like the author just threw all the build up of the characters, to shock the readers.

Not me sounding like a broken record, BUT ……… this is my favourite book so far, by this amazing author!

I was instantly hooked by the prologue, I had to resist skipping to the end to find out what happened sooner! Throughout I couldn’t figure who done what, why certain characters acted they way they did, right up to that ending 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 especially the background characters and their reactions to events, both in front and behind Ashley’s back.

This thriller perfectly brings together lies, control, anguish and underlying deceit for a completely justifiable reasons…. well to an extent! The characters have such depth as you learn about their past and present. The personalities of Danny were thought provoking.

This is a must for thriller fans, add it to your TBR.

A very good domestic thriller and a one sitting read for me. Ashley lives in Thyme End in the South East of England with her husband Danny and son Elliott not forgetting Rufus their dog. Danny and Ashley run their own marketing business from home. Life is busy but so enjoyable. Until…

Briefly, their idyll changes when they attend the birthday party of their best friends daughter. Lucy and Lee have thrown a massive party but the joy changes rapidly when Lucy is found dead in the garage and Danny is standing over her covered in blood and holding a hammer. With Danny arrested Ashley is struggling to hold both her private and business life together. Matters get worse as she starts to uncover secrets held from her. Does it mean Danny is guilty or innocent and can she prove either?

Written from Ashley’s POV this was a well paced read that started slowly and really ramped up as the story progressed and what great characters. Very good twists and turns and I just couldn’t make up my mind if Danny was guilty or not. As the story moved towards its conclusion I thought I had it sussed, and I did, in part! Only in part! A good read.

Ashley and Danny were together for a long time, she always had trust issues because of her past. The day that her friend Lucy was murdered and her husband was accused of it, her trust issues came back. I enjoyed reading this book but the story felt a little repetitive sometimes. I didn’t expect that ending. It was a quick read and I recommend it if you want to read a quick mystery read.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this arc.

Overall 4.5*

This is a good solid tense psychological thriller which has the reader constantly unsure of who to believe and who is actually guilty. The author certainly throws in lots of diversions to make you question yourself about some of the characters - not all of whom are likeable!

Many thanks to the author and Netgalley for the ARC to review.

Is it possible her husband is a murderer? Ashley can't believe that her husband murdered Lucy but as she starts digging she has doubts and exactly how close was the relationship between Lucy and her husband? OMG! This book had me enthralled! My favourite read of the year so far! I stayed up all night reading. It started out like a simple murder mystery and very quickly became layered complexly. The pace speeds on so fast that I found myself flying through it to get to the pulse pounding end. I thought I had worked it out and I am sad to say that I had picked the wrong culprit. The person that I thought was guilty was completely innocent. The ending was so unexpected that I am still sitting here in shock trying to process it. A thriller that keeps you on your toes!

Having read all of AJ Campbell’s books so far, it was a no brainer for me to read the new one. AJ Campbell is an amazing author who, despite you feeling you have it all figured out, makes you realise that even if you do it is not how you expected! I loved this book and very much felt sorry for Ash. The ending was explosive but also suitable for the story. If you haven’t read all the other books by this author go and find them now…she’s brilliant!!

Read in double quick time as always with my heart in my mouth! AJ Campbell knows how to write a good psychological thriller. It starts without pulling any punches and builds from there to a breath-holding conclusion.

I always love how AJ Campbell writes her characters. They’re people you think you could quite easily know! Whenever I finish one of her books I always think how they would translate brilliantly to Netflix and I would be one of the first to watch them!

Thank you for letting me be an ARC reader for an honest review.

How Can I Trust You?
AJ Campbell

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was absolutely packed with secrets and lies and kept me on my toes right up to the ending where the shocks were coming thick and fast.

Ashely and Dan have the perfect marriage. Having moved to the country, they have a beautiful home and great working partnership and a lovely environment to bring up their young son.
But when Lucy is killed at her daughter's birthday party and Dan is found standing over her, covered in blood - Ashley has to work out whether she can prove Dan's innocence, or whether she ever really knew him at all!

We follow this story from Ashley's pov and so as she searches and discovers more and more things, they come as a shock to all of us.
I really felt for her because it must be so difficult thinking you know everything about someone, only to find there were things being kept from you.
But did these really mean that he was a murderer?

Well, I have to admit that I flipped from trusting to not trusting Dan so many times in this book!
There was a long period where he was not present, but hearing everything past and present through Ashley's eyes meant that we struggled with the dilemma along with her.

The side characters fitted into the storyline well and this gave us plenty of suspects to explore.
I particularly liked Dan's brother, Lee.

I loved the way the characters developed over the course of the book and even though I think that deep down I knew the end result, I was still shocked as the reveals came.
The end scenes playing out swiftly, waving you no time to take it all in.

This was brilliantly written and the pace was perfect.
A nice slow burn to start with, allowing us to make our own theories, but the tension and pace ramping up as we learn more information.

Another great read by this author and I can't wait for the next one...

I really enjoyed AJ Campbell's new novel, HOW CAN I TRUST YOU? I was sucked into this story right away. I thought that Ashley was really put through the ringer. I didn't know what to believe. Was Danny innocent or did someone else kill Lucy? This is a fast paced story that you can read or listen to in a day. I can highly recommend grabbing a copy. You won't be disappointed!

Sometimes, in a book review, I’ll say that a book started with a bang. Well, this one started with two bangs! The prologue hits us with a car crash and then at the start of the present day story, we have a woman with her head smashed in with a hammer. Two literal bangs - that’s a good start for me!

So the hammer then; well that is taken to Lucy’s head at her daughter’s birthday party and when Ashley hears a scream and runs to see what has happened, she finds Lucy dead, with Ashley’s own husband, Daniel, standing over her body, with a hammer in his hand!

Inevitably Daniel is arrested but Ashley just can’t believe he would have murdered Lucy. As Ashley starts to investigate and find evidence to prove Daniel’s innocence, she discovers endless secrets and lies, and the twists start coming at a breathtaking pace. Buckle up! This is quite a ride!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, A. J. Campbell and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I can always count on AJ Campbell’s books to be twisty and hook me from the start. Before starting this book I was in a major book slump and I knew this book would get me out of the slump. I savored every minute of this twisted thriller/murder mystery that had me on a roller coaster of emotions. I had so many theories and every time I thought I was right, I was completely wrong! I would have never guessed the ending and that’s why I LOVE AJ Campbell’s books! This is a book that you need to READ!

****Many thanks to Bookouture, AJ Campbell, and NetGalley for my #gifted copy in turn for my honest review!

This is another addictive book from A.J.Campbell. She always manages to hook and pull me in from the start, and this new one is no different.
Especially with that prologue!

Here, we follow Ashley's husband Danny, who is accused of murdering his best friend. He was found standing over her body with a hammer in his hand, and now Ashley is left wondering if her husband is actually capable of murder.
She's done some digging on her own and discovered lies upon lies.. With each revelation in her world, her marriage feels more precarious. Can she trust him?

With well crafted, likable characters and a fast-paced plot line, this book was set up for perfection.
Suspense, tention, mystery, murder, secrets, and so many lies will all keep you on the edge of your seat.
Overall, this is a fantastic domestic thriller with some heart-pounding twists that will keep you guessing till the end. I highly recommend you don't miss this book. I predict this might be the best thriller of the

I've read most of this authors books by now and have loved them all so jumped at the chance to read her lasted one and I was not disappointed, another absolute cracker that I flew through because I just had to find out what happened.

I love the Authors style of writing, this a fast paced gripping and engaging storyline with quick chapters that flow into each other so smoothly, and a very character driven book with well developed characters some likeable and others untrustworthy. I adored Ashley she was so likeable & relatable and a wonderful mother who's loyalty was being tested & her world upended, I felt so much empathy for the struggle she was facing and the guilt she felt for second guessing everything she thought she knew about her husband Danny and their life, but I admired her strength & determination to face it all head on. As for Danny I constantly went back & forth on my feelings around him, not believing a word he said to feeling sorry for him and believing he was a good man just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was kept guessing to the very end, changing my mind numerous times about what happened to Lucy and at who's hands, the author created a perfect whirl of suspense until the very end with a few unexpected surprises thrown in.

Also as someone who grew up in a small village I absolutely loved the setting in the village of Thyme End with the author nailing small village life, I could picture it all perfectly and found myself thinking a lot 'yep this would definitely happen'

Thank you so much to the author and publishers for an advanced copy of this book, I absolutely loved it and would highly recommended.
