Returning home is not always easy. The Nowhere Girls is the twist filled first book in the intriguing new series by Dana Perry. The plot drew me in right away and did not let go. FBI agent Nikki Cassidy meets with the man who is imprisoned for kidnapping and murdering her sister fifteen years ago. They sit in silence until this year, when he requests to meet with her and informs her, that he did not kill her sister.

Then she learns that another young girl has been taken and days later her body has been found. Nikki is determined to catch the killer no matter what it takes. Questions swirl through her mind. If the man imprisoned for killing her sister didn't do it, then who is responsible. Is the current missing girls case related to her sister Caitlin's murder case?

Nikki is a great character. She is determined, intelligent, and driven. Her father was a police officer who passed away shortly after her sister's death. Nikki has lived with guilt over inviting her sister out the night she was taken, and this guilt has motivated her to not only become an agent but to bring her sister's killer to justice. This case is personal for Nikki, and she is not willing to stop even if it affects her personal life.

I found this book to be captivating, twist filled, secret filled, and hard to put down! I enjoyed the mounting tension and danger that kicked into high gear the later part of the book. I had both the book and the audiobook version of this book and thought the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing this book to life!

I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

I think there's a lot of potential in the books in these series. Nikki is an intriguing and well rounded characters, a carreer oriented women.
These books are page turners that keeps you turning pages even if there's a sort of template that is common to all three novels.
I enjoyed, had fun and was kept guessing.
This is a review for all the three novels.
3.5 upped to 4
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

The Nowhere Girls by Dana Perry and narrated by Madeline Pell is the first book in the new Detective Nikki Cassidy series. However the narrator Madeline Pell wasn't the best and I ended up turning the audiobook off and reading the book which was excellent!
So glad I did. It was an absolutely addictive and a gripping crime thriller that had me gripped from the beginning till the end, this book was a page turner.
I loved the main character Detective Nikki Cassidy is an FBI agent who is on the hunt to figure out who kidnapped and killed her sister younger Caitlin. This book was a full of twists and turns and the last chapter was WoW.......which leads to the next case and book in this brilliant new series.

Highly recommend this book and looking forward reading the next book in this series.

Big Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture audio for both of my arc.

On the anniversary of her sisters death, FBI agent Nikki Cassidy returns to her hometown, only to have a couple of days later another young girl abducted.
A good start to the series of books though I found the plot somewhat slow to start. The style was also quite repetitive, especially in the first half of the book. It will be interesting to see how the character develops in subsequent books.

In Dana Perry's "The Nowhere Girls," readers are plunged into a riveting narrative that intertwines themes of justice, revenge, and the haunting legacy of loss. FBI agent Nikki Cassidy's quest for answers and closure propels this gripping debut in the Detective Nicki Cassidy series.

The story unfolds on the anniversary of Nikki's sister Caitlin's tragic murder, a wound that still cuts deep after fifteen years. When another young girl is abducted and found dead in a chillingly familiar manner, Nikki's determination to stop the killer becomes a personal crusade. Perry skillfully builds tension from the outset, with Nikki's emotions driving the narrative forward with palpable urgency.

The small-town setting of Groveton, Ohio, adds layers of intrigue as Nikki navigates through a web of secrets and suspicions. Perry's vivid descriptions breathe life into the town and its inhabitants, creating a backdrop that feels both familiar and unsettling.

Nikki Cassidy emerges as a resilient and determined protagonist, grappling with her past traumas while relentlessly pursuing justice. Her character arc is compelling, drawing readers into her world and evoking empathy for her struggles. The supporting cast, including the residents of Groveton, adds depth and complexity to the story, with each character harboring their own motivations and secrets.

The plot is intricately woven, with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the final pages. Perry's writing style is engaging, with evocative imagery and sharp dialogue that heightens the suspenseful atmosphere. The cat-and-mouse game between Nikki and the killer is riveting, showcasing Perry's talent for crafting gripping suspense.

While "The Nowhere Girls" delivers a thrilling and emotionally resonant story, there are moments where the pacing could be tightened for added impact. However, the overall narrative strength and compelling characters make this book a standout debut in the Detective Nicki Cassidy series.

In conclusion, "The Nowhere Girls" is a must-read for fans of Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni, and Kendra Elliot. Dana Perry's ability to blend heart-racing suspense with themes of resilience and justice makes this book an addictive page-turner that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.

Thanks to Ms Perry, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Ok, so I’d really really love this trilogy if the repetition wasn’t there. I loved the plot and definitely wanted to know more, but as I kept reading the amount of times that was repeated it really got under my skin. There’s a great story here, just needs some revisions on repetition. It would really hold readers a lot more in my opinion.

I really want to like this one but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. I struggled to connect to the protagonist so I found it hard to care about what happened to her. The plot itself was okay, but it was slow to start. I probably won’t continue the series, however I’m sure it’ll find the right readers.

Nikki Cassidy is an interesting character. Being from Ohio I really enjoyed the settings and accuracy. The case kept me guessing and the overall book arc kept me invested. The end left me running for book two.

I really wanted to love this this book. I love the concept of the story, and it had so much potential. I think the writing style is what ruined it for me. It seemed to be for YA almost to the point of a high schooler writing it. As I read the book, it got worse. I hate to say that, but that's the feeling I got, and I want to give my review honestly. The story was very repetitive and over descriptive. A part of the book could have been taken out because of it. The book did have some twists and turns that were unpredictable. However, I did guess the ending and about a quarter way through the book. It did leave a little bit of a cliffhanger, which I didn't see the point in doing.

Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to find this book. It did have some good parts, though. Like I said before, the potential was there, but the ball was dropped in my opinion

2.5 ⭐️

Thank you Booktoure and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Yet another great read in the Nikki Cassidy FBI series. Nikki is asked by a woman to try and find out who killed her daughter 20 years ago after the man who had confessed and is serving time has now been found innocent and said he lied when he confessed to doing it. Other bodies start to show up with references to her dead sister. Can she trust those around her or is someone leading another life.
I look forward to reading books from this author.

The Nowhere Girls set in Huntsdale, a small community in America.
Huntsdale is the home town of Nikki Cassidy - FBI agent - and sister to Caitlin who was kidnapped and murdered 15 years ago when she was 12.
Nikki returns to speak to her sister’s murderer in prison who reveals that he didn’t do it and gives cryptic clues to suggest others were involved. Whilst Nikki is there another girl goes missing on the same date that her sister was taken. Can she solve the crime in time to save the new missing girl?
A quick paced story, keeps you wanting to figure it all out.
I wasn’t too keen on Nikki initially - I found her to be a bit arrogant but I soon warmed up to her.
The story was well paced and flowed nicely with twists that I found to be unexpected. Would recommend to others.

This is a solid start to a new crime thriller series based around Detective Nikki Cassidy. There were a lot of things I liked about this book, but there were also factors that made this one not work for me. I rated this one 3.5 starts rounded up.

What I enjoyed:

The plot was good. I truly liked the mystery elements to this story, and how aspects of the ending were unpredictable. I thought I had it figured out a few times, and I winded up being wrong. I also enjoyed getting to know the Detective. I’m always a stan for a female lead that is a boss in their own right. There were also twists that I thought were well written and one even left my mouth wide open!

What didn’t work for me:
The romantic elements in this story were strange. Nikki’s interactions with her fiancé were very awkward. I do feel that whole relationship could’ve been left out. There was also a LOT of repetitiveness the first 50% of the book.

I do plan to continue with the series. I’m looking forward to what happens in book #2.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Great start to the new Detective Nikki Cassidy series!

My first book by Dana Perry and it won’t be the last. Book 1 in this series and there will be three books in the series released on the same date, April 2nd, which always allows for a binge read.

We are introduced to Nikki Cassidy who works with the FBI out of Washington, a career she entered, following in her father’s footsteps into law enforcement and spurred by the disappearance and murder of her younger sister. At the 15yr anniversary of her sister’s death, Nikki continues to search for the answers as to why her sister was murdered, visiting the man convicted every year in the hope he will finally share something, and finally, he reaches out asking to speak with her, but the series of events that happen next, she never would have anticipated. The storyline will keep you engaged, hoping to find answers to this long-ago mystery. There are enough questions still remaining unanswered to lead into future books for more secrets to be uncovered, but don’t fret there is a resolution to the main mystery served up in book 1.

3.5 stars for this one, a few minor things about the style of writing that I think are specific to my personal preferences, or the fact that some things in the US are referred to differently that take my mind a bit to adjust to.

The Nowhere Girls by Dana Perry is the first book of the Detective Nikki Cassidy series.

Detective Cassidy goes back to her hometown to meet with the person that murdered her little sister fifteen years ago. While in town everything comes crumbling down.

First off, I really enjoyed the story. It was a fast paced thriller. There were a lot of twists and turns. It really could have been a five star read, but the repetition was insane. So many things were just said over and over. A couple paragraphs are actually the same exact thing. I almost put it down several times but really the story saved it. I have the next one in the series and so hoping it’s not repetitive. Dana Perry can tell a great story but it was really hard to get past the repetition.

Detective Cassidy’s fiancé Greg, maybe the most unliked character, I’ve read about this year. She’s going through something so dramatic and all he can talk about is their wedding and his needs. I’m curious if anyone else wanted to punch him as much as I did. I didn’t care for the romance aspect at all(this or the other one)

I rate it at 3.5 but rounded up to four cause it is a great story just don’t care for the writing.

First in the Nikki Cassidy series. A real roller coaster of a ride, well paced with Cassidy seemingly for ever going down blind alleys until the plot finally unraveled. The motive and perpetrator came as a surprise and although a few ends were left untied, I wonder if they will be cleared up in the next couple of books in the series.

"The Nowhere Girls" by Dana Perry is a fun mystery/thriller that will keep you entertained, but ultimately it is very formulaic and predictable in its storytelling.

FBI Agent Nikki Cassidy's sister was murdered 15 years ago as a young girl. Her killer was charged and found guilty and has been in prison ever since. Fast forward to today, and another young girl goes missing while Nikki is visiting her hometown, and the similarities of the cases are striking.
Nikki starts investigating and uncovers secrets that lead her to believe that maybe the police got it wrong all those years ago. She is now determined to uncover the truth, not only for her sister, but for other potential victims as well.

This book kept me hooked. I enjoyed reading it, and the short chapters made it easy to keep picking it back up. I genuinely wanted to keep reading, as it was an entertaining story.

However, the storytelling was a little bit too "by the book." It felt very predictable and at times a little cheesy. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Some readers may find this style comfortable, as it makes dark subjects a little lighter and easier to digest. But others may find it generic or unoriginal. It did not have a unique component to make it stand out from other popular mysteries/thrillers.

This is the first of a new series, so Perry did leave one big question unanswered. However, I am not sure that it was big enough to compel me to pick up the second book when it comes out.

"The Nowhere Girls" is good, not great. Fans of thrillers will probably not find this to be a standout book, but it is an entertaining read that almost feels cozy in its conventional storytelling.
