This story focuses on Jen and her husband Rob. Jen thought she had a good marriage, but then Jen starts to feel insecure when Rob comes home from work one night smelling of perfume.
The story started out a little slow at the beginning but as the characters developed and the plot thickened I found myself hooked and could not put the book down. Even though I thought the ending was a little predictable, throughout the book they were twist and turns that had me surprised. I really enjoyed reading this fast paced thriller. This is the first time reading from this author and will definitely be reading more of her books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC of My Husbands Affair in exchange for my honest review.

This was the first book for me from this author, but will not be the last!

Well thought out storyline, believable characters and plot. It had a few twists and was pretty fast paced. It is easy to follow and hard to put down.

Thank you for allowing me to read and review!

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. It was fast paced, full of red herrings and twists and turns. The second half I did not enjoy as much, It went in a weird direction I felt. I was questioning some choices the characters made and it just felt a little disconnected from the first half of the book.

I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, I had to DNF at the halfway mark. I found the pacing quite slow, which made it challenging for me to stay engaged. Additionally, I struggled to connect with the characters. Some aspects of the plot also seemed a bit too far-fetched for my taste, distracting me from the story's intended impact. This is purely my personal experience, and others might find what didn't work for me to be the highlights of their reading journey.

Thank you so much to the publishers and NetGalley for the copy.

This book presents an intriguing premise of marital infidelity and revenge, the execution feels predictable and lacks depth. The characters lack complexity, and the plot twists are telegraphed rather than genuinely surprising. Despite some moments of tension, the narrative ultimately fails to deliver the gripping psychological thriller it promises.

Insanely good! Jen has given up her career to devote herself to her husband, Rob and their children, losing her identity and feeling very under appreciated by Rob, who is self absorbed and egotistical. When Jen discovers that Rob is having an affair, she decides enough is enough and sets out to get revenge.

The characters were so well written - Rob was a slime ball and so I was really rooting for Jen. Her friends Natasha and Amy were integral to the story and really supportive of Jen, and we also get the POV of Rob's latest squeeze, his young colleague, Mia.

The book starts with scene setting and character development and then the pace slightly slowed for a short spell, so when the first big twist hit, I was absolutely not ready and it completely floored me! Just... WOW! From that point on, the manipulation came from all sides, everyone thinking they had the upper hand and having no idea that someone else was half a step ahead. Twist after twist blew my mind over and over again. The plot is superb and the ending is fantastic. I loved this book and can't wait for more from Ruth Heald.

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Ruth Heald and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

3 out of 5 stars!

When I look at the messages between Rob and his mistress, I am heartbroken. I thought I had the perfect marriage. We have 3 kids together, we live in a luxurious apartment, and we love each other. I never got upset when he said he had to work late. But now, I am questioning what he was doing all of those nights. The message says, “Leave my wife to me. I’ll deal with her.” Does he think he can just get rid of me? He may have a plan, but he doesn’t know I will have a plan too. I will stop at nothing to protect my life and my children.

“My Husband’s Affair” by Ruth Heald is a twisty, psychological novel about a race to kill. On the outside, it looks to be another domestic thriller about an affair. But wow, was it more than that. This book was entertaining and kept me on my toes the entire time. This was a fast read, I actually finished it in one sitting because I had to know what happened.

This book was fast, but also felt short to me. I felt like the author could have added some extra length especially to the ending. Don’t get me wrong, there were some massive twists that jerked you in a different direction, but I was waiting for the final twist at the end that never came. The ending did finish on a high note, which is something I love in mysteries.

I had a love and hate relationship with the characters. I felt at times they were clueless, but I loved the depth of the characters and their remarks. They did stand out, which is always a positive thing for me.

We promised forever...but only one of us will leave this marriage alive...

I've read all of Ruth Heald's books and she is one of my favourite authors...although I have to admit that this is not one of my favourite books of hers, it is still a thrilling read that keeps you guessing throughout. This one is about a wife's reaction to discovering her husband's affair...and the lengths she will go to save herself.

Jen lives a charmed life. Married to Rob, a high end estate agent in West London, with three children - Lottie, Jack and baby Ruby. And together they live in the penthouse suite of an exclusive apartment block for which Rob had the contract to sell from the developer. Although she would love to return to work, her life is filled with the children and making their house a home.

It all starts little by little. Discrepancies with their apartment that should have been safe but turns out are not. And then she smells an unfamiliar perfume on Rob's shirt...but writes it off as having been in contact with a client shrouded in the stuff. That has to be it.

But the late nights. The trips away. It's just client drinks and business, right? And then she discovers a burner phone, a passport, thousands in euros...and the messages. Rob is planning to leave them. But that's not the half of it. Rob has painted himself into a corner and thus delivers Jen an ultimatum completely out of left field. Think canoe man. But Jen has other ideas...

Another intriguing read by Ruth Heald that had me guessing throughout. The ending did let it down in the end as I'd expected something a little more jaw-dropping and unexpected. But it was still a thrilling read with a character you just love to hate!

I have read several of this author's books and enjoyed every one. This is a tale of a wife's reaction to finding out her husband is having an affair. But that's only half of it... she gradually uncovers a trail of deceit that threatens her home and her family and her close circle of friends. But what to do? Her answer is dramatic and she play an absolute blinder - the climax to the story had me holding my breath. No, she won't, will she? You'll have to read it to find out! Highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book releasing 10th April 2024.
This book started off strong and managed to stay strong throughout the whole book. The writing style was easy to read and chapter length was perfect for me as I enjoy short enough chapters.
The characters were likeable and I found myself rooting for certain people.
I highly enjoyed the book and would recommend reading if you enjoy domestic thrillers which leave you guessing..!

I absolutely loved the premise of this book. A domestic thriller that takes a look at marriage, friendships, gaslighting, betrayal, and revenge.

Jen's life appears to be so perfect. She has a loving husband, three wonderful children, and they live in a luxurious penthouse in the city. Rob is a real-estate broker /property developer, while Jen decided to take time off to be a stay at home mom.
She is s blissfully unaware that her husband is a serial adulterer.

However, what happens when she does find out about his deceitful behavior kept me turning the pages!

Ruth Heald has a way of capturing the raw emotions of her characters and making you feel them through her words. I loved the side characters Natasha and Amy, who brought so much to the story. Each has their own uniqueness. The underlying deception, fraud , affairs, and unthinkable betrayal turned this story into the perfect storm.
I was hooked from the prologue and never lost interest..

Fans of Freida McFadden, Jessica Payne, and Sally Hepworth will enjoy this book

3.5/5⭐️
A great crime thriller with some unexpected surprises. This one was similar to some of my favorite thrillers by people like Freida McFadden. I really enjoyed this one. At time I felt like I was going crazy cause some of the characters were a little kooky and definitely needed some therapy. I think the ending was pretty well written and although it wasn’t some big ending it felt finished in a very satisfying way.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had everything that I was hoping for in a psychological thriller element. The characters were everything that I wanted and glad they worked with this world. It had that suspenseful feel for the story and I enjoyed getting to read this. Ruth Heald has a great writing style and can't wait to read more in this series.

Wow! What a great book! So many lies, thrills, and all the drama! I could not put it down. That ending though… 🤯🤯

I didn’t think there was any shocking twist at the end of this book like most psychological thrillers that I read, but I was interested enough to read this book within a couple days.
What would you do if you caught your spouse having an affair?

My husband’s affair - Ruth Heald
Pub Date: 10 Apr 2024

Jen and Rob seem to be married happily. Jen is taking care of the kids and all of the chores at home in their luxurious penthouse and Rob is a manager of a successful real estate team. Jen should be the happiest woman alive, but her world shatters in pieces after she finds out Rob is betraying her. Jen is eager for revenge to make him pay for his betrayal.

This is a fast paced read with many twists. At the start I thought it would be a thriller like many others, but it surprised me in a nice way where the plot went. I really loved it and from that point this book was unputdownable for me. It was one big emotional rollercoaster! I’m a sucker for revenge tales and this one didn’t disappoint me. The ending felt a bit unrealistic to me though, but still a big 🌟🌟🌟🌟 read.

Many thanks to @netgalley and @bookouture for this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. ❤️

I loved every minute of this shockingly twisted thriller! Ruth Heald is an author I will read without knowing anything about the book. It’s an automatic ‘buy now’. It brings the saying to life ‘ don’t get mad get even’. I was cheering on Jen every step of the way. Rob was a character that was so narcissistic, I literally wished him the worst karma imaginable. A fast read with a wickedly entertaining plot.

This was a quick and easy suspense/thriller book. I finished this book in under 3 hours. The plot twists were ok. I felt everything was kind of wrapped up in a red ribbon at the end of the book. This book felt kind of lumped in with a lot of other thriller books where the reader is unsure if the husband cheats or not, & how will the wife get her revenge. Overall, a decent read & page turner.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this. Jen is married to Rob and they seem to have the perfect life with 3 kids, her a stay at home mom and him, working as an estate agent. As the title says, Rob does have an affair but the author Ruth packs so many layers on it that makes you believe one thing and as you dive deeper, you don't know what to feel anymore about anyone. She is amazing at developing characters where there were a few times I was about to throw my Kindle across the room. The feelings and beliefs you have can change pretty quickly.
