Good mystery with many, many secrets. I was immediately caught up in Alex’s search for her sister, Maddie!

So many twists and turns I did NOT see coming!! I LOVED this book!! Some families have problems and then some have “problems”…if you’re into murder mystery/family secrets then you will LOVE this book!

Stephanie DeCarolis’s latest, The Perfect Sister, was a jaw-dropping read! The book definitely hooked me from the beginning, but towards the end, I had zero idea where the story was headed. (And I loved that!)
Alex’s older sister, Maddie, vanished after moving to the Hamptons. Alex eventually found the family Maddie was staying with.. and something was seriously off about them. The story that unraveled was shocking and twisty!!!
Thank you NetGalley and Bantam for this ARC. Check out this book on July 16, 2024!

Thank you for the opportunity to preview The Perfect Sister.
What happens when your sibling goes missing. You look for her and this is the plot for this book.

This is a dramatic novel that touched a chord and was fast paced.

Alex sets out to find her sister who is presumed missing in the Hamptons. She finds herself at Blackwell Manor, where her sister was staying and last seen. The story has multiple viewpoints and flashbacks to help understand the whole picture. The beginning took me a few chapters to get hooked, but once it had me, I couldn’t put it down. About 70% of the way through there was a mind blowing twist I didn’t see coming. 🤯 Then many more twists to follow. This book is a great psychological thriller and it’s everything you would expect out of one. Twists you didn’t see coming, back to back twists that suck you in and make your jaw drop, then a perfect close. I was happy for the closure on the main characters. Great read!

This was a fantastic read! Alex and Maddie are sisters who have always shared a close bond. When Maddie doesn’t show for Alex’s birthday, Alex knows something is wrong. She heads to the Hamptons to find out what has happened to her sister. What follows is a suspenseful tale with lots of twists and turns! This was a great thriller. And the author has an amazing way with words! Her descriptions made me feel like I was right in the story. Will be looking for more from her! Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to read this great ARC!

Alex and Maddie have always been close. People often mistook them for twins. However, after their mother’s tragic passing, they got in an argument that left them at an impasse. Alex has now not heard from Maddie for quite some time and has decided to take matters into her own hands. She arrives at The Hamptons and starts digging. She lands on the Blackwell family’s manor. A wealthy family with many secrets to hide. Alex’s search leads her to uncover many dark secrets about her sister and her past.
Overall, this was a decent thriller. I liked the plotline, although slow at some points. I did guess the plot twists, however. I would likely recommend this book to someone who was newer to the thriller genre. Many thanks to NetGalley for the early copy!

Def a thriller to settle in for reading on vacation or at the beach. Sister centered plots are always intriguiing and this one was very good. I didn't ever warm up to the characters but the plot was solid and the writing well done.

Such an awesome thriller! There were so many twists and turns, and it kept my attention the whole time. Definitely pick this one up!

Growing up with a single mother, and a few dysfunctional situations, sisters Maddie and Alex have a deep bond. When Maddie goes missing, Alex's search leads her to the Hamptons, where the trail ends with the mysterious, wealthy and weird Blackwell Family.
I really liked Alex as a main character with her deep love for her sister, (even though some of her judgement was questionable in her search for the truth about what happened to Maddie). There was a lot going on in the book with lots of POVs, dark characters, and clues. There were some situations that were pretty dark too, but I didn't think they were overdone. There was more than one twist too - some you might see coming, but a couple others were shocking. I basically finished the last half in one sitting! Good multi-layered thriller mystery.
~Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher

I •liked• a LOT of aspects of The Perfect
Sister- I did not love.
It was a good, interesting story. I think there was too much happening in the book though. I wish there had been fewer POVs- it wasn't AS jumped around as some that I've read but I found I wasn't able to get as much information as I wanted from some and had too much time spent in others. I think the end result could have been accomplished still by removing a couple of those. OR, if it had somehow been developed more and then split into a duology-that would have intrigued me.
I also didn't like how very alone the FMC was for 98% of the book. I know that was intentional but I wanted the girl to have SOMEONE on her side with her, ya know?
Overall I liked the story and complexity of characters!

This book had my attention right away. I loved the details and the mystery. I did get a little lost at times with the many POVs involved. I was definitely invested in finding out what happened to Maddie though! Great work by the author!

This story was not what I anticipated at all. I thought it was going in one direction and then it takes a turn and another turn. Pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I finished it over the course of an evening and even stayed up late in the night to find out what happens. Recommend you give this one a shot if you like thrillers and books that keep you guessing.

Really well done. The novel was fast-paced and had so many twists and turns. The changing points of view were really interesting instead of confusing, and it was worth the time to read even with the dark turns.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow! This was an awesome fast paced, page turning thriller. The story really gets started when we realize Alex's sister, Maddie, is missing. Once Alex figures out the last place her sister was living, she goes to the house to question the family and ends up getting a free place to stay herself while she continues looking for her sister. We get to read from several different POVs and while I normally don't care for that (it can get confusing!), I think it worked great in this book. It definitely helped with the suspense and keeping you guessing at who might be responsible for Maddie's disappearance. There were a few twists that I definitely did not see coming and I love it when that happens! This was my first book by this author but it will not be the last. Absolutely recommend this thriller that will keep you guessing til the last page!

I Have Mixed Feelings About This Book
It has a good storyline but the plot is convoluted and I got lost in the minutiae of all the characters and had trouble keeping track of them. I almost never abandon a book before the end, though, so I kept on reading it bit by bit until the end.
Maddie has gone missing, she doesn’t come home for Alex’s birthday and can’t be reached at all, so Alex sets out to track her down. She ends up in the Hamptons among the rich and powerful, where Maddie was last known to be, and finds herself staying in the same glass pool house where Maddie was last seen. From there she attempts to put together all of the pieces she is finding in the hope of finding Maddie alive.
Some people are going to devour this book and rave about all the characters and the twists and turns that have you thinking you’ve figured it out when you haven’t. If you truly like that type of story you will love this book. This just wasn’t my kind of story.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for an advance copy of this book. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Kept me guessing till the very end.
This word "slow and boring" would NEVER describe this book. It was fast reading and kept me guessing till the very end.
This is the first book that I have read by this Author but can't wait to read another..

Sisters, Alex and Maddie have always been close; not only in age, but forever bonded by a tough upbringing. Now years have passed and Maddie has moved away from their hometown and is seeming to build a better life for herself. However, she Maddie missed the sister’s annual reunion on Alex’s birthday, Alex begins to panic and begins to search for her where she was living in The Hamptons. Her search leads her to the Blackwell family, where Maddie was staying. The Blackwells are the epitome of Hamptons rich: huge house overlooking the ocean, fancy cars, lavish dinner parties. As Alex gets closer to finding her sister, she also beings to uncover really who the Blackwells are and why Maddie went there in the first place.
“The Perfect Sister” is a well paced novel which does an excellent job setting a set. Taking place on the luxurious beaches of the Hamptons, the book pains a picture of a lavish community harboring a dark secret. Readers are treated to get scene-setting, well paced drama, and a fun twist at the end that may seem a little random, but is all the while a fun ending. 3.5/5 stars

Very fast and enjoyable read, with enough twists that I could guess some of them and still be surprised by others, which made the reading experience fulfilling. Solid thriller set in the always fun to literarily visit Hamptons.

I was asked to review “The Perfect Sister” by Stephanie De Carolis.
Alex and Maddie have always had each other’s backs. Once a year, they get together, but as their annual visit approached, Maddie suddenly cancels and then disappears. Hence, Alex heads to the Hamptons, the place where Maddie had last been seen, in hopes of unraveling the mystery of where her sister went and what might have happened to her.
The story is written in multiple point of views—some possibly unnecessary—but I think the author does an awesome job in building suspense and keeping the reader guessing. The glitzy setting works well, but I wish I got to know Alex better. Though the protagonist, I really did not have a chance to get in Alex’s head, especially since so much attention is spent on the information on the dynamics of the two sisters and their dysfunctional mom. Despite that, “The Perfect Sister” is the epitome of a beach read that just happens to take place at the beach.
Three and a half stars.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for a chance to read and review this lovely novel.
