This story takes place in the Hamptons …so you know there is rich people drama involved!! Alex is looking for her missing sister Maddie. Alex knows Maddie was living living in the pool house at the estate of James Blackwell’s’ . James was the last person to see Maddie alive..or was he?
This story involves multiple POV’s but it was easy to stay connected to the characters and the storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery of trying to figure out what happened to Alex’s sister Maddie, the story was solid and here were some great twists that caught me by surprise. The biggest one towards the end and I was caught off guard. The ending was suspenseful & compelling.
This is the first book I've read from this author, I would really like to explore more of her other books because I did enjoy her writing style.

This was a great book. Alex is determined to find her sister after she stops responding to her. She shows up at her last place of work in the Hamptons determined to figure out what happened. Many twists and turns along the way.

Alex and Maddie Walker, sisters only a year apart, were once inseparable. However, as they grew older, a chasm began to widen between them. Despite this, they had made a pact to spend at least a week of the summer together every year. This summer, Maddie unexpectedly canceled their plans. Then, Alex couldn’t reach her at all, so she embarked on a journey to a luxurious community in the Hamptons, determined to find her sister.
Alex knew that Maddie was drifting away, especially after they shared a tragic and life-changing event. She found herself at the opulent home of the Blackwell family, where Maddie had supposedly been staying. Everyone she spoke to assured her that Maddie had left. As Alex delved deeper into the mystery, she began to uncover clues that only added to the intrigue and suspense.
The story unfolds through multiple perspectives, including Maddie’s, Alex’s, and members of the Blackwell family. While the Blackwells appeared to have it all, Alex sensed a darkness lurking beneath their seemingly perfect facade. As the story shifts between perspectives, it truly takes shape, revealing a captivating and engaging narrative that I devoured in one sitting.
Many thanks to Bantam and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. The beginning was a bit slow. While we needed the backstory to be able to keep up, it just felt liked it dragged at first.
Once we got into the mystery of it all, it definitely kept moving. Everyone had had secrets and it added to all the twists and tension. And I was totally surprised by the ending.

I really enjoyed this read!! I felt it had a Great plot and characters and I would absolutely recommend!!

I kinda guessed the big plot twist, but everything else was a huge surprise to me. I love the sister relationship between the two girls.

Thank you @netgalley for the Advanced Reader Copy of The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis. Alex and Maddie were always close, but they have grown apart. Maddie seems to be thriving, and asks Alex to come to visit her while she spends the summer in the Hamptons. But when she gets there, Maddie is nowhere to be found, and a lot of creepy things are going on. This is a mystery based in a beautiful setting where you would think nothing every goes wrong. #theperfectsister #stephaniedecarolis #advancedreadercopy #netgalley #bookstagram #mystery #sisters #hamptons #bookloversofinstagram #readersofinstagram #takeapagefrommybook

This was a whirlwind ride! A missing older sister, a seemingly wonderful but odd family that takes in a stranger, and so many twists and turns. Alex’s older sister Maddie NEVER misses her birthday….until now. As Alex searches for her, she meets people who have known and befriended Maddie and she works to uncover the truth about what happened. Several twists and turns occur before Alex discovers the truth behind her sister’s disappearance. This was a really good book and I would recommend it to anyone looking for their next good read!

🌾 The Perfect Sister - Stephanie DeCarolis
3.5 ⭐️ - This was engaging and mysterious. I think this is a me thing - I’ve read a few books recently with similar vibes, storylines, or troupes and I think it’s time for me to move on. There are things I liked about this one tho!
I did enjoy this audiobook. It’s a full cast, told by multiple point of view, and had quick chapters that keep the book moving. I was interested and invested in each character and how they were part of the story. This is a classic family with trauma and drama and too much money. They have secrets, they don’t trust each other, and they lie. This kept me engaged in each of them and it wasn’t confusing to keep track of. I think I just don’t enjoy the icky vibe of the storyline/troupe tries to give off. There’s lots of twists and I did enjoy the ending. I do recommend this audio tho!

This book had more going on than needed to be with so many Povs and timelines I often found myself going back to the beginning of the chapter to try to figure out when and where I am now. This book mostly follows Alex a woman who fell out with her sisters after their mother’s death. When her sister Maddie goes missing and no one has seen her Alex try to retrace her steps which leads her to uncover family secrets . I liked the plot and the idea of this book but I had such a hard time in the beginning of this book keeping everyone straight with multiple points of view and timelines. While I was invested in what happened to Maddie I felt like some of the side story’s could have been left out. With that being said I could not put this book down finished it in a day the pacing was fast paced and the story engaging. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an ho eat review.

The Perfect Sister is a thriller that focuses on the secrets of family and the measures they go to take care of their own. It also focuses on the bond shared between sisters despite prior downfalls and disagreements.
Alex and Maddie have always been closed, it was only until their mother passed away that their bond began to sever. However, when Alex discovers that her sister hasn't been going to college and hasn't been in contact with her roommates she begins to become concerned.
Maddie was only supposed to be taking a summer trip which she never returned from. Alex takes it upon herself to find out what happened to her sister. During that time Alex is drawn into the drama and secrets of the Blackwell family that Maddie herself was pulled into.
However, there are more secrets that have been kept from Alex that she never realized. Maddie went to find the Blackwell family for a reason... one she isn't so willing to reveal to Alex.
Everything seems cookie cutter perfect for the perfect family of four that are the Blackwells' from the patriarch James, the perfect mother Katherine, and the kids Theo and Lily. As per the run of the mill in such thrillers like these the perfect family hides many a secret and plenty flaws.
Lily is clingy and desperate for approval, much as her brother Theo wants to meet the approval of his father. Katherine does anything she can to keep her husband around.
Like Maddie, Alex is drawn into the Blackwell family though Alex cannot help but feel like something is not so perfect with the family. As Alex delves deeper into the search for her missing sister more and more secrets become revealed. Some of them being the biggest of them all. Such leave Alex wondering who she can trust and if everything she knew before is real or not.
The Perfect Sister was an enjoyable suspenseful thriller that kept my attention throughout. The characters could use a bit more development but the story in itself flowed and kept my interest. If you want a book with a few unexpected twist and surprises then The Perfect Sister may be just for you. Until next time, happy reading!

I liked this one! I found it a bit slow/repetitive at the beginning but I was pleasantly surprised by the twist at the end and pleased with how everything came together!

Wow, remind me of this book the next time I say, “let’s go to the Hamptons.”
Jk - maybe. This book kept me on my toes the entire time. When I thought I figured everything out, a new twist happened! If you’re looking for a suspenseful read about the strength of love, the true reality of people, and a beautiful beach setting filled with million and billionaires, this is it!
Not five stars because each character flipped through memories and reality very fluidly and sometimes it was hard to keep track. It does force you to focus, which in my case is always needed.
Enjoy!

This was my admittedly my first Stephanie DeCarolis book but certainly won't be my last! There may be subtext of self-sabotage but I'm a fan of feuding sister narratives (with a splash of mystery), so I jumped on The Perfect Sister after reading the book's description. And let me tell you, Stephanie DeCarolis did not disappoint! The Perfect Sister is one of my favorites for 2024 -- don't sleep on it!

Started out as a 2.5 but became a solid 3.5 by the end. I would love to see this as a Lifetime Movie 💯!
There were so many points of view, but it wasn't as clearly depicted in the ✍️ style. I found myself confused at times whose chapter I was reading. Luckily, the chapters are short.
There were some twists, some sexy scenes, and of course, murder☠️!
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author for the ARC (that I read way too late!)

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Bantam for the ARC of The Perfect Sister by Stephanie DeCarolis.
This wasn’t a bad book, but I wasn’t wowed by it. When I see “psychological suspense” in the description I am expecting something riveting and page turning. It grabs your attention and you just have to know what happens next. For as much I enjoyed the story line, I also found it equally predictable and not very suspenseful. I kept waiting for twist in which Alex was secretly hunting Maddie down for some kind of revenge plot, but nope it wasn’t there. If you’re new to the suspense genre, this would be a good book for you.

I really enjoyed all of the twists and dramatic layers that played out throughout The Perfect Sister. My interest was peaked throughout the entire story because of everything that kept unraveling.

The prologue caught me a bit off guard since it seemed to focus on Vivienne (the mother), and I wasn’t sure what I was starting to read as it didn’t seem to fit the book synopsis. At the start of Chapter 1, the story seems to take off with Alex arriving in the Hamptons searching for her sister, who appears to have gone missing. The story started with a plodding pace and I had a hard time keeping my attention focused on the book, but I stayed with it. Also, the alternating POVs for each chapter seemed to help move the story along and keep it interesting. Of course, since this all takes place in the Hamptons, the storyline involves many rich people behaving badly, which I always find entertaining. At about the 50% mark, I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened to Alex’s sister, Maddie. I was also curious to see if anything was going to happen to Alex while she was trying to solve this mystery. I am definitely not an expert, but I would categorize this book more as a mystery than a thriller. I found the book to be an entertaining read and I appreciated the surprise ending. I would probably recommend it to someone as a beach read.

I really liked the twists in the book. I was kept guessing and it was fun not knowing what was going to happen next

This gripping thriller hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn't put it down!
The story follows Alex as she searches for her missing sister. Maddie goes missing without a trace, and Alex is uncovering secrets as she looks for her.
The Perfect Sister was twisty and kept me wondering all the way through about what was really going on. This was my first book by this author, and I'm positive it won't be the last.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
