When Riley loses her job as a content marketing manager, her sister Amy informs her that their mother Beth has
broken her leg and could use help in running the inn. Riley returns home, helps with the inn and uses her
knowledge to make the inn more noticeable on-line. Riley's old boyfriend, a widower for three years and his nine
year old son are staying at the inn while repairs are being done on their house.
Beth has been happy running the inn and has a hard time trusting men due to her ex-husband's action.
Franny, a widow and former resident of the town, has returned to bury her sister and fulfill the request her
sister made in letters she left. Changes in store for all, leading to happier lives.
A lovely cozy holiday story.

This is a wonderful cozy Christmas story. I so wanted to join them at the inn. Riley has just been laid off from her content marketing job in Manhattan and learns that her mother broke her leg from falling off a ladder when her sister calls to see if she could help out. Since she now has lots of free time she packs up her cat and heads to Cape Cod where she remembers what she loved about her hometown and her high school sweetheart.

Delightful Christmas story of an inn on Nantucket. A daughter returns from NYC to help her mother in December run the inn and the Hallmark moments with encounters of past relationships and events in the town. Cuddle up with a woolly blanket and a cup of cinnamon tea; you will either order pizza or run to cook a delicious meal. Nice romance book with a temptation to visit Nantucket. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this book; this is my honest review.

Riley lost her marketing job in Manhattan . After talking to her sister Amy and she told her about their Mom breaking her leg. Riley decided she would take Lily her cat and go home to Chatham to help her Mom with running the Inn. Even though she has a boyfriend in Manhattan she finds out her ex boyfriend is staying at the Inn with his son Luke, they start hanging out and enjoying it. She finds she enjoys it .When her boyfriend comes to meet the family all he does is work and then leaves early, but not before he tells her about a job at his firm. Does she take it and go back to Manhattan ? If she does take it does she stay or does she surprise us and does what she feels she will be happy doing.. This is A GREAT READ. All the characters are really great.

The Christmas Inn by Pamela M. Kelley feels like a paint by numbers Hallmark holiday movie. We have our female lead heading home from the big city to a small town. Her current boyfriend a decent guy but there is no real passion between them and besides he’s a workaholic. An old love coming back into her life, who just happens to be quite jaded about the holiday and is in need of rediscovering the magic of the season and reawakening love in his life. Now I don’t say any of this as a negative. I absolutely love Hallmark holiday movies. In fact, half of my DVR is devoted to them. So when I say a book reads like a Hallmark movie, that generally means I loved it, which in the case of The Christmas Inn, I did.

Riley has recently lost her job. Turns out the timing couldn’t be better, because her mom has recently broken her leg and needs help running her bed and breakfast. So she packs her bag and her cat and leaves NYC for Cape Cod. While she does have a boyfriend, things really don’t seem to be going anywhere. And when she arrives back home, she finds her first love is staying at her mom’s B&B. He’s now widowed and has a young son, and not exactly in the holiday spirit. It may sound like a cookie cutter Hallmark script, and in many ways I would say it is, there is also more to it. There’s more going on than the potential second chance romance going on between Riley and Aiden. There are a whole host of secondary characters with touching stories of their own. Yes, you may see where the story is going well ahead of time, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. The story hits all the beats I love in a holiday romance. I really enjoyed this one, and if it eventually gets made into Hallmark movie it would be one I’d gladly rewatch year after year. I’d like to thank St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of The Christmas Inn.

When sudden changes happen at her work place, Riley Sanders learns her mother, an inn keeper in Cape Cod, has broken her leg. Riley returns home to Cape Cod to help her mother and job search. When new and old friends as well as family fill her life, it becomes a lovely break from her former hectic life.
Delightful characters populate this book while the activities and town can only be described as an idyllic setting. I loved the age range of characters and their interactions. It was definitely one of "those" books that you simultaneously wanted to rush to the end, and to stop reading in order to savior the story and keep it from getting over too soon. A beautiful story.

I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and express my opinion of The Christmas Inn by Pamela M. Kelley.

The Christmas Inn

Pub Date: Sept. 24, 2024
General Fiction (Adult), Romance, Women's Fiction

The Christmas Inn is as satisfying as the hot chocolate and tea served at the inn during the Christmas season. Kelley had me cheering for all of her main characters, including Riley, who returns to Cape Cod to help her mother Beth, the innkeeper, after she breaks her leg. I was engrossed in the holiday feelings experienced at a warm, cozy inn with a Cape Cod setting.

Kelley's gentle writing style is so descriptive and engaging, from the food and events at the Chatham Coastal Inn, to the Christmas atmosphere in the community. I especially enjoyed the relationship building of the story, with family, new friends, and second chances at romance. Consider this book for your holiday and winter reading pleasure!

When Riley Sanders loses her job just before Christmas, she is at a loss of what to do. When she finds out her mother broke her leg, she heads home to help out at her mother’s inn. Her plan is to apply for jobs while she is there so she can get back to her life in the city after the holidays. Our best laid plans though sometimes bring us unexpected surprises.

When Riley arrives, she meets the other guests at the inn. Franny who is grieving the loss of her sister and is now holding four unopened letters that her sister left her. There is also Aidan and his son Luke, Riley’s high school sweetheart. What seems like a simple trip home soon becomes a little more complicated when it is time to leave her family and new found friends.

I am such a huge fan of author Pamela Kelley. I love her heartwarming tales of family, friendship and matters of the heart. This novel had all the elements of a warm and wonderful Christmas story. The characters were easy to love and the little mystery of the unopened letters brought a sweet touch to the story. My thanks to the author and to St. Martin’s Press for my advanced copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. If you are looking for a cozy Christmas novel, look no further.

What a great story. I want to go to Chatham and be with these wonderful folks. I do like happy endings and these folks were lucky enough to find that second chance. I love the characters and the story line. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Pamela Kelley has once again set her latest novel in the welcoming community of Chatham near Cape Cod. She has combined several of my favorite elements such as multiple generations, re-connecting with past loves and frequent mentions of food. It's always fun to recognize characters from her previous books interspersed within the story. I classify this type of book as "comfort food" because it leaves me with a warm and cozy feeling. Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and the author for an advance copy to read and review.

Riley Sanders has worked for a marketing firm in Manhattan for several years. Today she learns that she and the entire content team have been laid off. It’s early December and that will really impact a lot of people.

Back home with her cat, Lily, Riley hears from her sister, Amy in Chatham that their mother fell and broke her leg. Amy asks if Riley can come for a few weeks to help her mother run her Chatham Coastal Inn that she has owned for years. Riley agrees and she and Lily head out. This is a cheerful break for Riley as she loves Christmas. Riley’s boyfriend, Jack, is a very driven lawyer working long hours trying to become a partner. They have been together for several years but Riley doesn’t feel that theirs is a serious relationship.

Back in Chatham, Riley quickly settles in with new ideas for the Inn, meeting old friends and making new friends. She sees an old boyfriend from years ago, now divorced with a young son. They renew their friendship. Her mother meets a man and for the first time in many years, now has someone good in her life. We meet other characters that are staying at the Inn for several reasons and get a peek into their lives and how their stay in Chatham has brought them happiness and peace.

When Riley gets a chance at some interviews back in Manhattan, one is at Jack’s firm. The pay and benefits are top-notch, but she is not sure that it’s something she wants to do. What will be the outcome of this visit back to her roots?

Pamela Kelley has a way of introducing us to real people and showing us what is happening in people’s lives. Her characters are warm and real. I loved this book. Enjoy!

I was looking forward to reading this book to revisit the area and see how past characters are but there is only a little reference to this. The Christmas Inn was an enjoyable read over all and there were parts of the story that I loved. And then there were parts that were very repetitive and boring. I had many issues with timing not being realistic (there was not a realistic amount of time between activities multiple times through the story) and tedious references to driving back and forth being house and inn. There was also too much reference to clothing brand naming and food and wine names and tastes. It was like they were being used to fill pages instead of moving the story along.
I also wish there had been more build up between Aiden and Riley. There relationship did not feel real in the end and I was not able to connect to them.
I did love that there was women characters over the age of 40. I would have loved if they were just a bit more of the main instead of the secondary characters.

Thanks to netgalley and St Martins Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Riley has lost her job and she decides to go home and help her mother at her inn on Cape Cod. Riley discovers that the Inn might be in need of some new marketing. She also soon discovers there might be more than Christmas in the air.

Riley is having a rough way to go with her job and her love life. But there is nothing like returning home to put a new outlook on her life, especially at Christmas time. And when she runs into her old flame, Aidan, the sparks are still there.

This story is a bit slow in places. Of course it is also predictable and it has some mundane details that I could have done without. But the setting of Christmas on Cape Cod is fabulous.

The Christmas Inn by Pamela M. Kelley is just a wonderful cozy and joyful novel of second chances and finding family.
A heartwarming and magical read with a stunning setting along the shores of Cape Cod.

The Christmas Inn is a perfect way to start getting into the holiday spirit. The book has the stories of several of the characters going on at once. I really like this and the fact that the characters are all in different phases in their lives. It illustrates that everyone can find ways to be happy. The characters feel like friends and the overall story was full of hope. The book was a great escape. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a perfect cozy Christmas read! I adored it!

We follow Riley who has just been laid off from her job due to AI taking over. She loved her job and the team she worked with. That night she calls her sister to tell her the news and we find out she has news to tell as well. Their mom, Beth fell off a ladder and broke her leg and she needs help at the Inn she owns in Cape Cod. Riley comes up with a plan to pack some things and head up there to help her mother, especially being so close to Christmas. She took this as a perfect opportunity to reconnect, see family, and help out at the inn.

The story also follows others staying at the inn. Aiden, Riley’s ex-boyfriend who is staying at the inn with his son Luke while their house is under construction. Franny, who just lost her sister. Her sister left her letters to read each week and follow through with each one. These side stories were just as intriguing as the main plot line.

I loved following the story of each character. This book is the perfect small-town Christmas romance.

A really nice Christmas story. Set at a cozy inn in Cape Cod.

This is all I've come to expect from Kelley.

The perfect book to curl up with by a fire.

Great characters. I liked how the guests of the Inn played such a large part in the story. They were not just extras like they often are in some books.

If you love a good Christmas story as much as I do, then this is the book for you.

Thanks to netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc.

Tropes/Themes: Cozy Christmas, HEA, Slice of life, Christmas miracle/destiny

The Christmas Inn is very much a book that is a period of time during the Christmas season and the magic of the season. It largely follows three women Riley, Beth and Franny as they fall in love and find the meaning of home again.

Overall I enjoyed this one! It was a simple slow burn but the end was a bit of a pay off. It is a good slower read that you can soak up like a warm bath. The character building was well done though I found some of the characters like Jack were a little bit more of a background fixture.

This is a good book for someone who is looking for a slower pace Hallmark movie type of story to enjoy during the holiday season.

The Christmas Inn by Pamela M. Kelley is such a sweet wintertime book. I highly recommend if you're looking for a heartwarming Christmas romance.

Riley loses her job and goes home to help her mother run her inn after she breaks her leg. Of course, Riley runs into an old high school flame. You can guess how it goes from there, but you should still read it.
