One Bed by Joss Wood is a charming romantic comedy that takes readers to the sun-drenched shores of Santorini. The story centres on Bea, a successful author of a Percy Jackson-style fantasy series, who is struggling with writer’s block. Seeking respite, she retreats to her godmother’s quaint cottage on a Greek island, only to discover that she will have to share the cosy space with none other than Gibson Caddell, her childhood friend—and a walking, talking red flag.

Gib is the CEO of a company that represents authors and handles various business dealings, his confidence and charisma seemingly in stark contrast to Bea’s more introverted, shy nature. Bea, with her “indoor cat energy,” finds herself increasingly drawn to Gib, the outgoing “Golden Retriever” who’s all outdoorsy charm. As they share a one-bed cottage, tension builds not just from the close quarters but from the undeniable chemistry between them.

Wood’s storytelling excels at capturing the opposites-attract dynamic between Bea and Gib, blending humour, heart, and irresistible tension. Bea’s gradual realisation that she’s falling for Gib is a delightful exploration of love blossoming in unexpected circumstances. The tropes of "one bed," "CEO romance," and "millionaire romance" are handled with a light, engaging touch, making this book a perfect escape for fans of sweet, feel-good love stories. With its perfect balance of sun, sand, and simmering romance, One Bed is a delightful read for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a whirlwind of emotion, humour, and undeniable attraction.

Awesome book that I inhaled in a couple of days! Loved the enemies to lovers trope. Fun characters that add hilariousness along the way. MMC that I wished was a real person. Super cute twist that makes you root for them even more. Great fun read with just the right amount of spice!

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

One of my favorite tropes! But it wasn't as good as I was hoping. There were some parts I felt were too cringe or unbelievable.

Spicy, male female, 3rd person dual point of view, contemporary romance. I love the one bed trope and I love Greece as a setting. Fun, steamy, cozy read - I enjoyed it!

This was entertaining from start to finish. The chemistry was very very well done! My favorite part is that it takes place in Santorini 🌊. It really paints an accurate picture and made me miss Greece so much 😩. This read had very rom-com vibes but it fell a little short in the end. It kills me when we have the dramatic third act break up and then like 3 pages of HEA. Overall definitely a fun read, especially if you happen to be on vacation! Thank you @netga for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this arc! The characters had amazing growth, but the story lacked a decent plot so it did fall a little bit. The one bed trope was done well, but I hated how the plot was centered fully around a side character who wasn't that good. As it is a summer book, I think I would have liked it better if I had read it in summer not winter

Tropes:
- One Bed
- Forced Proximity

If you’re in the mood for a sweet, heartfelt romance set against the dreamy backdrop of Santorini, One Bed delivers. Bea, a shy and insecure author hiding behind a pseudonym, finds herself sharing a cozy one-bedroom cottage with Gibson—a workaholic CEO and her strikingly handsome childhood friend. Their chemistry crackles from the start, but both are weighed down by past traumas that make trusting and opening up a challenge.

Joss Wood weaves a beautiful story about second chances, self-discovery, and finding love in unexpected places. Bea and Gib’s emotional journey is laced with humor, angst, and plenty of tender moments. The stunning Greek setting provides a picturesque escape, while Bea’s quirky godmother adds delightful comic relief.

Though the romance moves a bit quickly at times, the character development shines, and the emotional depth keeps you hooked. This is a perfect lighthearted read for anyone craving sun-soaked romance and lovable, imperfect characters learning to heal together.

A charming, emotional read that reminds us love often begins when we least expect

Ultimately I ended up DNFing this one. I was not a huge fan of the writing style and really struggled with the main concept of the novel itself. I love a One Bed trope but I love it when there's a pre-conceived tension and relationship there. This felt icky to me. Two people who haven't seen each other since they were children (and have no relationship at all other than finding each other hot) are forced to share a cottage because of the FMC's godmother thinking it'll be funny/a set-up?
Based on the reviews I think a lot of people will love this book, but it wasn't for me.

The title literally was the reason I requested this book. It’s absolutely one of my favorite tropes! It didn’t disappoint! The setting was amazing, characters lovable, side characters- fantastic. This book checked all the boxes for me and I will definitely be recommending!

I tried to like this book, but I just can’t make myself. The first few chapters were extremely hard to get through and was very repetitive. If it wasn’t an ARC, I wouldn’t have even finished it.

The main characters were absolutely captivating. Their chemistry was undeniable, and they complemented each other so well throughout the story.

Contemporary Romance

Bea Williams was looking forward to the staying in the cottage on Santorini while she helped manage her godmother's party. She would need the escape when dealing with the chaos that was Golly. Bea loved her dearly, but although Golly was a sharp literary agent able to bring out the best in authors and get them the best offers, the rest of her life was bit more lax. Bea would be fighting Golly-made fires day and night until the party was over. The quiet of the cottage would be her peace.

Gibson Caddell was looking forward to revisiting the location of his favorite childhood memories. He was thrilled to rent the cottage from Golly for two weeks. Two weeks away from everyone. No work. Just do whatever caught his fancy. Alone.

Except Golly being Golly had conveniently forgotten she'd assigned both Bea and Gib the cottage. And most of the island was either closed or booked for a big wedding. Neither truly believed Golly made a mistake, but neither were willing to give up the cottage.

Thus begins a contest of wills.

One Bed was a romance bringing two headstrong individuals, who both need a little healing, together. Bea had trust issues due to a nasty breakup. Gib abhorred opening himself to anyone. Gib was a bit of a jerk at times, but it was wonderful to see them both overcome their pasts to fight for a new future. There was an entertaining cast of secondary characters, and then there was Golly. Someone who only those who love her could possibly put up with her antics.

🌶️🌶️ - medium spice

LOVES:
- Yeesh, what an awkward meet cute 🤦‍♀️😆
- The idea that the character from Bea’s book (who is almost like a friend to her) was subconsciously based on Gib as a kid is kind of cute. Honestly, I wanted more to come from that.
- The drinking song they sing at one point is a song my husband and his rugby team sing so that was fun to see 🤣
- They communicated well about their needs and expectations for the relationship and continued to do so throughout the book
- The pep talk Gib gives her and the way she comes back from her spiraling about failure was really cool to see
- The epilogue was really sweet, though it felt like it ended kind of abruptly. So satisfying to see them create a happy, healthy life together 💖

CRITIQUES:
- Majority of both of their backstories are crammed into the first two chapters and it was written pretty well, but it felt a little overwhelming
- These people act like it’s impossible to sleep on a floor 🤦‍♀️😆

Gib was a tricky character for me. I liked him and understood him, but also spent a decent amount of time being frustrated with him. Bea was SO much more patient than I would have been. The process was a little painful, but I did actually really liked the way he dealt with everything in the end.

I enjoyed this one and the quirky cast of characters. Lots of vacation vibes so if you need a break from winter reads, this one will do the trick!

Thanks to @netgalley and @onemorechapterhc for the eARC 💝

Greece is always a good choice. A romantic contemporary novel with hints of black cat/golden retriever, only one bed, writer, millionaire tropes. All of which I adore and enjoyed in this book to their full potential. Cute read, maybe more suitable for summer (haha), yet it wasn't my absolute favourite but it was good. Great potential but maybe tried too hard in too many directions.

Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Joss Wood for the early access copy of One Bed.

One Bed follows the story of Bea and Gib. Bea is an author who uses a pen name. No one knows who she is until her publicist and godmother chooses to retire. In need of inspiration for her series and to plan her godmothers retirement celebration Bea goes to Santorini. What she doesn’t expect is for her godmother to scheme to have Bea share her villa with Gib. A villa with only one bed. Gib is a CEO and as a child shared the same villa with a young Bea.

Joss Wood does a beautiful job writing about Santorini. The premise of the story sounded interesting. However, the progression of the story felt slow at times, which pulled me out of the book.

Another palate cleanser book

I didn't feel these characters connected well, at all.
Maybe the connection was me, but it left a lot to be desired.

It wasnt bad, per se, but it could've been a lot better.

The one bed trope pulled me in, but again the story fell flat.

This book had some charming moments, especially with the godmother, who added a refreshing spark to the story. She’s hands down the standout character, bringing humor and warmth to an otherwise pretty average read. However, Bea’s personality didn’t quite land – she often came across as immature and a bit too prickly, making it tough to root for her. The romance was a miss for me, too; Bea and Gibson’s dynamic didn’t have the spark you'd hope for, and his "Chris Hemsworth clone" vibes felt a tad forced and overdone. The writing itself is competent, but the story ultimately feels flat, lacking the depth or originality needed to truly stand out. It’s an easy read, but one that’s forgettable once the final page is turned.

This was a delightful journey to Santorini, filled with parties, oddball characters and an angsty one-bed (obviously) romance.

I really enjoyed the book, and Bea's journey to being more assertive and brave, but I felt the ending was just a tad rushed. I would've loved just a little bit more of the last 20% of the book to really show the culmination of both Bea and Gib's self discoveries.

Overall, however, a lovely, sunshine-filled book!
