Jess has opened a new B&B in her hometown and during her grand opening there is a murder. Being in her hometown, we get to see all the old high school cliques, like who were the mean girls, who Jess’ old boyfriend was, how everyone is doing now that they’re older… and then we also have a murder to solve!
This was a fun cozy mystery! I normally don’t read cozy mysteries, but I am so glad that I requested this one! Former high school drama plus a murder mystery was too much fun.
The narrator for this audiobook is Traci Odom. Her voice is very mature and I could not tell how old our MC was supposed to be until roughly the 60% mark & then she said she was 28. I thought she was supposed to be middle-aged or a little older, so the high school stuff was throwing me for a loop at first.

It was an average cozy murder mystery set in a small town with a few issues/rumors going around. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that spectacular either. It was fast-paced since it happened over a single weekend, which made it not so boring.

Never heard of this author but liked the description of the audiobook. Decided to give it a try. Excellent narrator and a fun book to listen to. Good characters and a mystery too. Surprise and satisfactory ending.

This was a fun cozy mystery! I really wish The Pearl was a real place, I would totally visit there on the regular! It sounds amazing, minus the murders. This was a fun ride and I was totally here for it. This was my 1st book by Sydney Leigh but will certainly not be my last. I am adding all of their books to my TBR!

Fun! Lighthearted mystery with quirky characters and humor. I'm wondering if this will become a series and the characters will have more adventures? Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC.

Peril in Pink (A Hudson Valley B&B Mystery) by Sydney Leigh
⭐️⭐️⭐️ / Pages: 301 / Genre: Cozy Mystery
Audiobook Narrator: Traci Odom / Duration: 9 hours 2 minutes
Release Day: March 19, 2024
It’s the grand opening weekend of Jess and Kat’s newly renovated B&B. To celebrate, Jess’ ex-boyfriend and reality tv singing star Lars Armstrong has agreed to perform for the event. Among the guests are two mean girls from Jess and Kate’s high school days (they’re still mean). And a pair of fun-loving twins on a girls weekend. Plus Lars’ creepy stepdad/manager Bob and his also creepy assistant Nicky. Everything’s going well until someone turns up dead.
This was a cute cozy mystery where everyone is a possible suspect. I switched between reading and listening to the audiobook. Traci Odom did a great job narrating. A solid three stars for me.
Thank you @NetGalley, @CrookedLaneBooks, and @SydneyLeighAuthor for my gifted copy.

I was able to finish this story in one sitting which shows how intrigued I truly was by this plot. I really enjoyed the characters, as it is always nice to relate or connect with the characters. Jess and Kat were the best, and the B&B really feels like a place I’d like to spend a weekend at... minus the deaths of course.
This book was a nice, quick read that had a good finale. I was able to guess the ending overall. I would not consider this a real thriller or suspense story but still enjoyable with subtle twists and turns. There are many characters involved which was confusing initially.

Peril in Pink is about Jessica and her best friend, Kat being co-owners of a new B&B! On opening night, a plethora of people from Jessica’s life and past life show up. Things get crazy and things go wrong as a mystery unravels.
This book was a cute, easy & quick read that had a great ending. It was a little bit predictable, however that’s okay! It’s definitely a cozy read that doesn’t keep you too anxious about what’s going to happen. It was definitely entertaining and had a few twists and turns. All characters were lovable and you felt like you were right there with them.
3.5 Stars :)
Thanks to netgalley, the author and publisher for providing me an arc in exchange for an honest review 🎉

I do enjoy a cozy mystery every once in a while! We have a B&B opening weekend when someone is found dead. B&B owner Jess decides to take the investigation into her own hands and while doing so, she really becomes a great amateur sleuth! Due to everyone growing up in this town, she has connections with all of the suspects which allows for trust and people to open up to her. It also allowed for some comedy to be sprinkled throughout. I did enjoy the quick read of this one and the audiobook was great. The ending also didn’t disappoint since it was one I didn’t predict although I think I was hoping for something a bit more exciting.

This was a fun murder mystery! It had a teenage sleuth meets millennial obsessed with true crime vibe. My biggest issue was there were so many characters and I struggled to remember who was who. Overall I really enjoyed the FMC Jess and loved the narrator! Definitely recommend this read!

This book was cute and cozy, perfect for those who want a mystery without any gore or scary twists. It was truly a lighthearted who-dun-it, so pick it up when you’re feeling mysterious.
I did feel like there wasn’t enough background given regarding the history of the characters’s relationships to each other. I often found myself confused about Lars and Jess’s prior relationship. And why does Kat hate Lars so much? The plot also felt like it got “lost in the sauce” with all the pop culture talk going on. It often seemed like Jess and Kat were young girls in their early twenties rather than mature adults who owned a B&B.
Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you to @NetGalley, @dreamscapemedia and @crookedlanebooks for my free copy of the audiobook. The narrator was fabulous and did an excellent job in narrating.
Jess has come back home to open up her new B&B. During the Grand opening, her lead opening act is a no show. That no show is also her very untrustworthy ex, Lars, famous rockstar, or shall I say kind of washed-up famous rock star! Lars has disappointed her, yet again, but to her surprise, an even more famous rock star woos the B&B crowd in a dazzling impromptu show! He is also Lars' rival and biggest competitor.
Jess's grand opening is a success, that is until Lars' manager/step-dad is found murdered.
But wait, another member of Lars' crew is UNALIVED too!
So many suspects with reasons to kill. Can Jess help figure out who is murdering people before her coveted B&B is closed for good?
I enjoyed this exciting, cozy mystery and give it 3.5 stars!

This was so silly. I loved it. I was laughing. It is also a clean novel which I know a lot of people will appreciate. It is fairly wholesome. I also loved the narration.

Peril in Pink is a cozy mystery set in a bed and breakfast. It’s a light suspense filled read, perfect for fans of amateur sleuthing. I read the Finlay Donovan series recently and it had a similar vibe to that. However, I felt the emphasis on the pop culture references, hashtags, and “mean girls” was a bit much and somewhat cringy. The narrator did a good job but just didn’t match how I imagined Jess to sound like.

Cute concept, but a bit messy. I struggled to understand the voice/tone of the book. On one hand, the concept of the modern B&B with Palm Springs-esque pink accents and a level of luxury to draw the IGers seems somewhat refreshing for the genre, but the rhetoric used is just plain old. The POV just felt off. Not characters are, I believe, in their mid-late 30s, as am I, so their behaviors and dialogue really were hard to get past. (No one thinks in hashtags. No one.) The idea of a group of adults still being very much stuck in their high school feelings and “types” just feels too unrealistic. Maybe had they all been in their early twenties? Maybe had we gotten more backstory on what their connections were in the past, beyond the stereotypes of the “mean girls” and the “hot rock star”, etc. We really didn’t get enough information to care about connections. Further, no one really freaks out over a murder happening. It feels almost like a subplot that is sprinkled in around the odd relationships and pop culture references. This feels like a millennial meme. 2 ⭐️
I was lucky enough to receive both the digital and the audio arcs for this story. The audiobook voice wasn’t for me. Her voice sounds older than I expected and the character voices were just bad. Either high pitched and whiny to convey the characters we don’t like, or randomly making the men all sound stoned. If you enjoy listening at a higher speed, like 2.5+, you may also have trouble with the voicework.
Thank you NetGalley, and the publisher for these arcs in exchange for my unbiased opinions.

Thank you NetGally and Sydney Leigh for the opportunity to listen to this ARC!
It is opening night of Jess and Kat's B&B! They have worked hard for this and prepared for everything, or so they thought, until someone ends up dead! Jess takes it upon her self to help solve the murder and protect her B&B in this cute and funny murder mystery! This isn't my typical genre buy overall I really enjoyed this fun and quick listen!

Peril in Pink, narrated by Traci Odom, is a riveting cozy mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Set in the picturesque Hudson Valley, the story unfolds with the grand opening of The Pearl B&B, where owner Jess Byrne finds herself embroiled in a whirlwind of drama after her ex-boyfriend, reality singing sensation Lars Armstrong, becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. With engaging narration and a well-crafted plot full of twists and turns, Sydney Leigh delivers a captivating tale of suspense, friendship, and uncovering the truth. Odom's narration brings the characters to life, making this audiobook an absolute delight to listen to. (I received an advance reader copy of this book, and all opinions are my own.) Whether you're a fan of cozy mysteries or looking for your next audiobook obsession, Peril in Pink is sure to impress.

This was an okay debut cozy mystery by a new Canadian author set in a new boutique B&B. I found it a tad over dramatic for my personal tastes. Fans of cozy mysteries with quirky characters and a slew of suspects plus a cute dog sidekick are sure to enjoy this more than I did. Gook on audio. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

Peril in Pink was a fun Whodunnit it novel set at a cutesy B&B run by two besties Jess and Kat. This book was a fun adventure. It was a different setting than I was used to and a fun twist on a murder mystery. It was cozy. It was fun. It was filled to the brim with amateur sleuthing and it was a fun little ride. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
The author reached out to me on Instagram to read this book and I was also fortunate enough to receive an audiobook version to listen to courtesy of Dreamscape Media. Overall, I enjoyed both formats. The narrator did a good job as well.
If you’re looking for a cozier mystery this one is for you.

Cute story and sign me up for a girl's weekend! I loved how I could actually picture the setting. The characters were likable and everyone knows someone just like them. They mystery element was a good addition and it would make the perfect weekend or beach read!
