Oh my god! This book is an edge of the seat ride, one that I couldn't put down. It's packed with red herrings so the moment I thought I figured something out I couldn't have been more wrong. Nothing and no one is what they seem to be, with mystery attached to it. I honestly didn't see few of these twists coming at all!

The book deals with pain, loss, guilt, revenge and obsession. It gripped me right from the beginning and never did my attention wane. It kept me guessing and you feel the tension coming out from the character as there's a transition. Also loved the ending of the book! Definitely want to read more thrillers by Vi Keeland! This is a 5 star read for me!

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

I am speechless! This is such an exceptional story. I wish I had better word to describe how good this book is. I’m not going to say anything about it. I suggest you read the blurb about it and leave it at that, so you can go in somewhat blind. But I will say that I thought I had the story figured out. Not even close. I finished with my jaw dropped. Vi is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely love her romances. And she knocked it out of the park with this one.

The mystery/suspense/psychological thriller genre is one of my favorites to read besides romance, so when Vi Keeland announced she was venturing into that world, I was ridiculously excited. What kind of story was she going to be telling in her debut thriller? I couldn't wait to find out!

Vi doesn't keep us waiting long to fall down a rabbit hole, along with our protagonist, Meredith. She's a recent widow who had a thriving practice as a psychiatrist, until one tragic night changed her life forever. Now eighteen months later, she's trying to rebuild her life and her practice, but one chance encounter with Gabriel Wright, the man whose life also changed irrevocably that tragic night, sends her spiraling down a dangerous path.

Unraveling is certainly an appropriate title for this story as it pertains to Meredith, but also other characters too, as we learn by the end of the book. Who might those characters be? You'll have to read to find out.

For someone who was intelligent enough to graduate medical school and become a Psychiatrist, Meredith sure made a slew of very questionable and downright stupid decisions on the daily. The number of times I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and say, "Girl, just no." were innumerable. But people who are suffering the type of tragedy she was, even someone who is trained as a psychiatrist and supposedly know right from wrong and all the correct coping mechanisms, often are the ones who make the biggest mistakes. And boy, Meredith made some doozies!

If you aren't paying close attention, there are lots of hints dropped throughout the story that all culminate in that final, jaw dropping last paragraph. I admit, I had to read it several times to grasp exactly what it was implying, and I am still obsessing over it today to make sure I fully understand the total weight of its implications. My OCD won't let me drop it until I've overanalyzed it to death, no pun intended!

When you get ready to start reading, be prepared to strap in tight and hold on for the ride. Vi delivers a truly twisted tale that I just could not put down. Her first foray into writing a thriller was an absolute success and I sincerely hope she continues to bring us more twisted stories!

V Keeland is one of my go to authors. I was excited to read her foray into a different genre with The Unraveling. The Unraveling is a story about the aftermath of a tragic accident and the intermingling of the characters connections to those events. This was a thriller taking many twists and turns about unhealthy obsessions and the lengths people will go to, to get what they want regardless of how it affects others.
There were so many layers to this story that kept the reader glued. Breadcrumbs left to make you think you were right there with the character only for it to not be anywhere close to what was really happening.
Be prepared to take a rollercoaster of a ride as Vi Keeland's The Unraveling plays with the mind and psyche. then be prepared to be shocked at the end!

I just finished reading "The Unraveling," and boy, was it a wild ride! This book had me frantically turning the pages until the very end. It's like a train wreck you can't look away from, and I was ready with my popcorn to witness the crash.

The main character, Meredith, is a psychiatrist and therapist who has gone rogue and is making every possible wrong choice to lose her practice license. She may not be the most likable character, but she certainly makes an excellent one to hate. I found myself rooting for her to get her act together, even though I knew it was unlikely.

Overall, "The Unraveling" is a quick and fun read with some steamy scenes (so be warned!). If you're looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat, this is definitely one to pick up.

This was my first book by Vi Keeland and I really enjoyed it. There were so many layers and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. The description of this book sounded so intriguing and it did not disappoint! This book is told in the POV of Meredith McCall who is a psychiatrist in New York whose life takes a turn and she is struggling to get her life back on track. She keeps making questionable decisions throughout the book.

Plot: I found the plot intriguing and unique. I enjoy a good stalker romance, and this one had a little different twist to the stalker troupe.

Character: I liked the characters. A tragic accident happens and you see the two main characters trying to overcome it and how their lives intersect and are interconnected. Since it was told in the POV of the main female character you could really feel her mental spiral, her guilt, and her reflection on her choices.

I liked that it was a thriller but had some romance intertwined into the story. I will be checking out some of the romance books this author has written.

My mind is just 🤯. I mean .... I don't have words. I was completely drawn in. The story line, the characters. The twist and turns... I LOVED it! 5+ stars! I wouldn't mind seeing more of this type of book.

Just finished the first (of many, hopefully!) Vi Keeland thriller, and I'm still pondering the outcome. The story of a psychiatrist suffering the tragic loss of her pro hockey husband and her subsequent unraveling is quite the page turner. I fell into the story but couldn't decide who to trust, which is to say I got sucked right in to the whole twisted knot between victims and side characters. Reading mostly the inner thoughts of Dr. Meredith, I kept pulling for her to do the right thing, even when the lines were blurred, a lot. When it felt to me that the story was slowing down, I realize it was more likely that I was bracing for the ambush around the corner. Mission accomplished! Well done.

It started innocently at first and then it all began to unravel into something uncontrollable. Meredith loved her life being a hockey players wife. However, When Connor was injured on the ice he became addicted to prescription drugs. His attitude spiraled downhill. Meredith didn’t know how to reach him. As a psychiatrist, Meredith kept scripts at both her office and home. She noticed the script was missing from her office but she had no idea Connor wrote himself prescriptions until one night he was drunk and angry and crashed into two pedestrians. Meredith almost lost her medical license because of it.

Meredith felt guilty and responsible for the death of the two pedestrians. She found the man who lost his wife and child and followed him. At first just to prove he was ok. When he seemed happy she moved on. Then He showed up as her new patient. That’s when everything changed.

This book is crazy good. It’s a page-turner. It’s been awhile since I’ve invested my reading time into a book that I can sink my teeth into. This is what I’m talking about. This is type of book worth reading.

Vi Keeland tells the story of Meredith in the “then” and “now”. This is Vi Keeland’s debut thriller. Vi Keeland is a #1 New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA TODAY bestselling author. I’m blown away by the writing voice in The Unraveling. This is great work. It’s a fantastic story with a steady pace of information. Vi Keeland’s keeps readers engaged from the very beginning until the end. She knocked it out of the park.

I enjoy a new fresh outlook on psychological thrillers. As readers follow Meredith’s life I get this sense of curiosity for her loss and puzzlement regarding her fascination with Gabriel. Meredith is a psychiatrist who studies the minds and behaviors of her patients. In The Unraveling readers are studying Meredith’s behavioral patterns. Her life spirals out of control after the tragedy of losing her husband. What ensues is a chain reaction of fear.

When I saw my "Go To" author Vi Keeland wrote a thriller, I had to read it! No one does romance like Vi so I knew a thriller would be just as enthralling. The Unraveling is fascinating!

Dr. Meredith McCall is a psychiatrist who is living a nightmare. When she happens to bump into Gabriel Wright, someone she doesn't know, but he's someone who's life is intertwined with hers, it sets her into a spiral.

This is an enticing story full of desperation, torment and anguish. The characters are intriguing. It's hard to know what is real and what is imagined. The perfect thriller that kept me wondering how it would unravel and who would be the antagonist.

Captivating book by a fabulous author that will have you wondering through the entire book. An absolute must read.
I highly recommend The Unraveling!

Wow, what a ride that was. After finishing The Unraveling by V. Keeland I just can't. My jaw hit the floor and I don't know where to put the book. The qzueen of romance wrote a twisty and tiefgründiges book, and the end, my oh my, That I never ever saw coming. Nothing and nobody is as it seems, literally nobody. Not the hero, not the villains, not the victims.
Two broken souls caught by karma are together in this raw and gritty, heartwrenchingly painful debut thriller.
I fell hook, line and sinker for the storyline and the characters and the end still has me in knots, all I'm saying is Thailand.
The book deserves all the stars.

As a devoted Vi Keeland enthusiast, I was intrigued when I discovered she was straying from her typical romance genre. A psychological thriller? Yes please! And she did not disappoint. It is a gripping psychological thriller that left me anxious at every turn. Vi throws twists and turns to build the suspense with every chapter and gradually reveals little clues to make you think you've solved the mystery. But have you? Who is stalking who?

Let's talk about the FMC. She is a depressed, guilt-ridden widow who is trying to do the right thing for all involved. Her journey through guilt-ridden widowhood is like a roller coaster of emotions. Because of this, all her education, ethics, and morals take a back seat to her fixation on the MMC. I work in a psychiatric hospital and from my people-watching experiences, I couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow at her missing the giant red flags billowing in the air from the very beginning. Also, with her profession, she definitely would have known what asphyxiophilia is. But, we all know people handle tragedy and grief differently. The author does a superb job of showing how all these messy human emotions can affect our mindset and can making you sympathize with our FMC's chaotic life choices.

Enter the charming and handsome MMC. He's a happy-go-lucky and flirty looker, but you just might see something a little sinister behind those peepers. Master manipulator at his finest. Or is he? Keeland takes all your feels on an emotional roller coaster ride trying to decide if he is a "puppet master" or a "poor grieving husband and father who's trying to atone for his mistakes."

The ending might leave you feeling a tad rushed, but it is still a "What the heck just happened" ending. It did leave me with a few questions so be prepared to re-read through several parts. However, questions still linger and it will leave you thinking about it days after finishing the book. .

BRAVO Ms. Keeland! This was a thrilling change from your norm and an enjoyable ride!.

I was obsessed with this book! It took me a minute to get started then was hooked and couldn’t put it down. So many twists and turns, I loved it. There were a few times where I thought something was a bit on the nose but it wasn’t. It was just brilliant! I love Vi Keeland and The Unraveling is another great one. Thank you Vi!

Wow! What an intriguing story. This one will have you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what’ll come next. Definitely did not expect that ending. Absolutely worth the read.

Too slow-paced, especially for a 300-page-book. For a suspense/thriller novel I never felt on edge. This felt way closer to a romance than a mystery and thriller for the majority of the book, so it's not really my cup of tea. Adult scenes didn't inherently bother me as I already guessed there would be many just from reading the blurb. The writing style is probably good in a vacuum, but the book just falls flat and is disappointing. I'm most likely the wrong audience.

If you are nervous about reading this book because it's not what you are used to by Vi...don't be! I was captivated from the very beginning. A tragedy sparks a domino effect for Gabriel and Meredith. With so many strings weaving throughout this story, just when you think you have it figured out, another shock comes at ya! great book!!

Just finished The Unraveling which was disappointing.I had never heard of Vi Keeland, the author, before even though she is a prolific romance published writer. I don’t read romance stories and I didn’t realize when I chose this book it was not really to my reading tastes. It was mainly written from a first person perspective, too wordy and parts were sexually explicit as an X- rated Shades of Grey novel/movie.I am in no way a prude but don’t look for sexual content when it’s detailed beyond necessity. Thank you NetGallery, author and Atria Books(Simon&Schuster) for the opportunity to read this eBook. It will be on sale,July 09,2024.

I received this book from Netgalley, and I am not okay!
Boy, oh boy.. where do I start?
I have so many questions about this book. But more so, there are SO many things to say.

This was, for sure, a roller-coaster ride that I did not want to get off.

This story is about Dr. Meredith McCall, a psychiatrist whose life is like a blurry picture. She's merely floating about her day to day life until Gabriel catches her eye.

After losing her husband to a car accident, she basically is on this downward spiral. Existing. Not fully living.

The first few chapters help us step into her past and the relationship she had with her husband. It highlights her highs and, unfortunately, her regrets and failures as a wife, too.

I must admit, even in those seemingly "lovey" chapters between her and her husband, I didn't think they had much chemistry. Even though it had been portrayed that way. Like they were 'that couple'.. the against all odds, we will survive it type of couple. . The latter parts made me want to scream because her husband honestly is the biggest jerk. The other critic I had was that before he actually passed on, I didn't get her naivety with regards to certain things.

After he had passed, it was down we go. Her obsession had completely derailed her moral compass. At first, you might be a tad judgemental about her decisions, but I dare you to step into her mind. As twisted as it is. Step into her perspective, and honestly, it becomes a totally different reading experience.

So the suspense. The book for me really picked up after about halfway through. I could not put it down. Vi Keeland drops hint after hint, like breadcrumbs for your imagination. Especially when the stalker becomes the stalkee. Or the identities of her patients are revealed.

Literally, the last sentence had me wondering if I had been given the entire book. Because, of course, that could not. I repeat. That could not be the end!. But alas it was.

What I really liked:
* The chemistry between Gabriel and Meredith
* I actually really liked that they did not end up together as that is generally what always happens.
* The suspense - even if I felt it more towards the latter half

What I didn't really love:
* I would have liked Mer to have been given more time to evolve. Especially in the transition between her twisted, obsessive nature to actually see her happy and how that turns out (only because that last chapter was not nearly enough). I would have liked to see her picture become crystal clear through her eyes. Through her thoughts.

Overall, my rating is a solid 4 stars.

All opinions are my own. As mentioned earlier. I received this book from Netgalley for a honest review.
