Love, Unscripted By Denise Hunter

I LOVED this story and it also featured my favourite narrator (Kathleen McInerney). The story centered around an author (Cloe) who's novel had been chosen to be made into a movie. Liam is cast to be the lead and she is not happy about this choice. The story follows Chloe and Liam through the process of making the movie.

I found myself wanting to see the movie and read the novel that was at the center of this story. At the beginning of the story I did not expect to like Liam's character at all, but quite quickly I could see there was much more to him. Denise's character development had me routing for Liam and Chloe and although there was some predictability there was also some twists and turns that kept me wondering how it would end.
It is a perfect beach read (or listen) for this summer! Although this is considered Christian Romance I would not have considered Christian as it does not contain overt Christian content in my opinion. I would recommend this book to those looking for a great beach read with good character development, with great pacing and a twist.

Love, Unscripted is expected to be released March 12, 2024 Thank you Net Galley, Denise Hunter, Kathleen McInerney and Thomas Nelson Zondervan Fiction Audio

Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Thomas Nelson Fiction, for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. This is narrated by Kathleen McInerney who does a fantastic job. I recommend the audio version if that is of interest.

Chloe has written her first novel, a romance, and its wildly popular. So much so that her agent sells the rights to make a move out of it. Chloe is very invested in her story and wants to ensure that her main character is played by a good guy and not a womanizer like some men in Hollywood. When Liam Hamilton, a known bad boy, is chosen, he overhears Chloe's complaints against his taking the part. So, the 2 are off to a rocky start. But, they strike a bargain to pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend and he will play the role just as she has written it. What could go wrong?

This is the first novel that I have read by this author and I would definitely read more by her. She reminds me of Katherine Center. The book is well written and enjoyable. While its a very predictable story, its an enjoyable, quick read.

Recommend!

4.75 stars rounded up!
this was such a joy to listen to today! i had the best time with this book. i felt immersed in the setting of the sweet beach town Stillwater Bay in the first chapter. the narrator was super talented with all the different voices of the various characters and I definitely plan to seek out more books voiced by her. i have nothing bad to say about this book, the only reason why it’s not a full 5 stars is totally a me thing and i just didn’t get that special feeling.
