I have truly enjoyed many books by this author. I listened to the audible, which was told beautifully. The story takes place both past and present day when 3 foster sisters return to their foster home to help solve a mystery of bones being found in the manor where they were placed many years before. And face their abusive foster mother. The book takes you into their lives, both past and present day, where you learn of both their physical and mental abuse at the manner, and how it is affected them in present day. The book has many twist and turns and kept me wanting more throughout the whole narration. It was a pleasure to listen to advance copy of this book..thank you NetGalley and Mcmillion publishing

Hepworth is an instant buy author for me at this rate, and Darling Girls was another slam dunk.
I was obsessed with these characters from the start. This was such a gripping story that had me dying to get through chapters! I couldn't put it down during the day. There were a few surprises for me as I listened, and it was just so well written. I loved the flashes from the past to the present, and I thought that this was a very unique story. Jessica, Alicia, and Norah were so easy to root for, and each had a backstory and present life that was full of nuance. Miss. Fairchild may be in my top list of villains I've encountered this year in thrillers. Her backstory was shocking, and you just never knew what she was going to pull out of her sleeve. Overall, such a satisfying read. Hepworth always does such a great job of writing real, capable heroines which I appreciate in a thriller. 10/10 recommend for people looking for a good read to keep you hooked till the end.

Jessica and Norah and Alicia are sisters with a deep bond and a dark past. I always love Sally Hepworth books and this was no exception. I really enjoyed the dual timeline and found the history of these women and the complex dynamics to be both believable and surprising. This was a good one that I enjoyed start to finish. I do not love her narrator and found the voice less than stellar and and her delivery to be low energy.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review, Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth. This review is purely
my thoughts and opinions based on this book.
A novel about three girls who grow up together in a foster home. They’ve been rescued from poor living conditions and come to live with Miss Fairchild who raises them.
Later on, bones are discovered under the house where the girls were raised and they’re all under a microscope. Did they do it, or was it someone else? How many lies are we told throughout the novel and how many are webbed together with perfection? Trust no one!
This is a page-turning thriller, in my opinion and I really enjoyed it. Something with a different pace and it definitely kept me guessing and had me gasping towards the end.

I binged Darling Girls in one day. I know a thriller is working for me when I clean the kitchen just so I can keep listening.
Sally Hepworth gives us three foster sisters: Jessica, Norah, and Alicia. They grew up together as very lucky girls in a foster home that looked perfect from the outside: a beautiful, loving mom, a perfectly tidy house, even a pool.
As adults, the sisters are called back to their hometown when human remains are found under their foster home. As the women are interrogated by local police, they have to reckon with their own pasts.
I’m glad I gave Hepworth a second chance — I read The Soulmate last year and while I liked certain aspects, it was a 3-star read for me. Darling Girls grabbed me completely.
I loved the three women and their found family bond. Each was so different, but believable and flawed. The book goes back and forth between their very troubled childhood and who they became as adults — while revealing bits and pieces of their history and keeping the reader guessing.
I’m not sure that the ending lived up to the first 85% of the novel, but it did resolve the main mysteries and I’m interested in reading more Hepworth in the future.
I listened to this one as an audiobook and loved Jessica Clarke’s narration. She was engaging and gave each of the three sisters their own personality without overacting.
Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillan Audio for my review copy of this book

Thanks to #NetGalley and #MacMillanAudio for the book #DarlingGirls by #SallyHepworth. This captivating book about three girls who grew up together in a foster home is fantastic! The things they went through shape them into the women they are today. While tearing down the “home”, builders discover a body. Was their foster mother responsible or could one of them had a hand in it? Make sure you read this book!!!

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It’s a fast-paced whodunit mystery done right. The multiple POVs in different timelines was beautifully written, very interesting, and easy to follow. I was not expecting the twists at the end! I couldn’t stop listening to it. I will be posting my review on Amazon on publishing day. Thank you for the opportunity to review.

A family doesn't have to be biological, in this case, three foster girls who grow up together and feel closer than a lot of sisters. Jessica, Nora and Alicia all ended up at a farmhouse called Wild Meadows with Miss Fairchild as their foster mother. They all had had varying experiences before and after entering foster care and bonded together under the watchful and vengeful eyes of Miss Fairchild.
We learn their story in dual timelines when they are asked to return to the town now that a body is discovered under the home they had lived in. The narration also includes meetings with a psychologist, only we don't know who is in the room with him. These women are all dealing with the trauma from their youth and how it is impacting their adult lives. It is very dark at times and not a great look at the foster care system in general.
I felt a lot of empathy for the women and really hoped that their bond would help them cope with life. Their was a big reveal at the end and a look at the future, so a more hopeful ending for the women.
Thanks to NetGalley for the Advance audio copy.

Sally Hepworth is truly my favorite author of all time. She has MASTERED the art of a domestic suspense and I live for her books every year.
Darling Girls was no different. I went in blind. All I knew was this was Sally’s latest and I’d read her grocery store list without anyone twisting my arm. This was truly such a compelling read, one that broke my heart with the foster kid stories, but had me absolutely rooting on the found sisters element.

I loved this. Sally - you are truly so incredibly talented!

This was my first book by Sally Hepworth and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Diving deep into the psyche of foster children hit a whole new level for me. This was a great thriller to read that’s dark but not too dark. I appreciate the mental health aspect behind our characters.
That ending though eek. I predicted it for the most part buttttt still a shock to hear it and just soak it in.
The audiobook was done so well. I enjoyed it and I was confused with the different POVs

I loved this! Easy to listen to and it kept me entertained the whole time! Switched between past and present. I didn’t want to stop listening. I listened at 2x speed and was able to understand the narrator. Good twist at the end! 4 stars!

Sally Hepworth has crafted a masterpiece with her latest novel, "Darling Girls." The book delves into the lives of children in foster care, and the unique experience they share with one particular character. The story is a gripping psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
The story centers around the girls, but the real main character of the novel is a vicious foster mother. She deftly navigates the complicated foster care system, using it to her advantage for personal gain. Hepworth's writing is so vivid and descriptive that I felt I was with the characters, experiencing every moment of their lives.
The three main characters are beautifully portrayed, each with a distinct personality and backstory. The author's ability to bring these characters to life is truly remarkable. I was especially impressed with how she showed the power of friendship and the unbreakable bond that can form between people from vastly different backgrounds.
The novel's different timelines and the unveiling of secrets throughout add to the intrigue and suspense. I was captivated by every twist and turn, and the ending left me both satisfied and wanting more.
In conclusion, "Darling Girls" is an outstanding novel that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a thrilling and thought-provoking read. I want to thank Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of the book and allowing me to experience this incredible story.

I love Sally Hepworth. But this one just did not do it for me. It dragged on and was just not that interesting. All of the characters were flawed which made them difficult to like or relate to. I did like the small twist at the end. I also enjoyed the narrator.

Wow! I absolutely loved this. I really loved The Soulmate by this author, so I had high expectations going in, and this book didn’t disappoint!
Darling Girls follows Jessica, Norah, and Alicia as they return to their childhood foster home and confront their past after a body has been discovered. Told in multiple POVs and dual timelines, we follow each character in the past and present. I loved getting to know each character when they were children living at Wild Meadows and see how they turned out as adults. I also loved the character growth for everyone as the book progressed. This book was very emotional and had me tearing up multiple times throughout. And that last chapter. Omg. Such an amazing and emotional journey from start to finish.

4.5 stars, rounded up because I really enjoyed it!
This book was such an interesting and fast-paced mystery. When I started this audiobook, I had no idea what I was in for but I am so pleasantly surprised by the story! It was shocking, sad, and well rounded. I truly enjoyed the main characters as they each felt completed and realistic. I honestly felt like I was watching a true crime documentary and not reading a book because I could see each scene so vividly in my head. My jaw dropped multiple times during this book and I never knew what was coming next.
There are plenty of other reviews that will give you a synopsis of the plot so I won't do that, I will just urge you to add this book to your tbr! Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio for reaching out to me and asking me to review this book - honestly the coolest email I've gotten. Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC.

This is my 4th or 5th Sally Hepworth book. I really enjoy her style of psychological “thriller” (they’re never actual thrillers, but I don’t know how else to characterize them). “Darling Girls” is about 3 women who spent years in the same foster home and consider themselves to be sisters. This book contains scenes of child abuse so if that’s a trigger for you, I don’t recommend. 25 years after their time together, bones are discovered beneath the home they shared. The story moves from each woman’s narrative, in both past and present and the device was very engaging.
Unexpected plot twist at the end!

Thank you, NetGalley, for my review copy.

This is the third Sally Hepworth book I have read and I have to say that I did not find it as compelling as the first two I read. The ones I read were mystery/thrillers and dealt with domestic relationships and so perhaps I feel that her talent lies in that. This too was a mystery/thriller but it seemed that element of it took a back seat to the issue of foster care. In this novel, three girls that had been placed in foster care with a cruel woman and the body of a young child was found. I thought that this novel played into the tropes of bad foster homes and this took precedence over the mystery element. It felt to me like the author was trying to give me a message about foster care and I find this irritating in a book and it definitely detracts.
There was decent character development although I found myself not really liking them much, or being annoyed by them. The trope of bad foster care making these girls into dysfunctional women played into this.
Nonetheless, it was a fast read and the pacing was good. I listened and read (had the audiobook) and the narrator had a fun English accent and she was fine.
Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and MacMillan Audio for providing me with the opportunity to read and listen to this ARC.

I seem to be hit or miss with this author. Her last book was a hit but this one just didn’t meet the mark for me. The abuse throughout the book was just too much for me. I can see intellectually how this could be categorized as a physiological thriller but for me overall, it was the story of a really cruel woman.
Not my cup of tea ☕️

This was a fun, twisty thriller with some great surprises. I have read Hepworth before and always love her books. This felt very different from her usual work. Ina great way! And I was very pleased with the narrator. Made from a great read, and an excellent listen!

My first Sally Hepworth book and it didn't disappoint! I think I will have to pick up some more thrillers from this author! I liked how the story weaved in and out of the past and present. The foster sisters really had to form their own misguided and twisted family because of their foster mother was crazy. I went into this blind, and really glad I did. I enjoyed the ride, and listened in one day! I would highly recommend!
