Foley raises the stakes in this page-turner. I love all of her books, but this one is now my favorite. There is a large cast of characters, but it isn’t difficult to keep track of them as they are all distinctly different. I highly enjoyed this book and recommend it.
This book touches on classism, revenge and even a little folklore. It’s written in classic Lucy Foley style with multiple POV’s and the great twisty ending.

Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for giving me the opportunity to read this book early.So far, it might be my favorite Lucy Foley book. Highly recommended for anyone craving a gripping read.

this was so much fun! tied with the paris apartment for my favorite lucy foley novel, although they have very different vibes. there were so many twists throughout this wild story. 💚

I usually don't like detective povs in fiction, but this tied in nicely and felt like scooby doo for adults. the journal entries and poetic pieces were also an addition that were fun in a mixed media sort of way and flowed nicely. I think this book will work well for a lot of readers.

from close knit small town locals to some of the most bazaar rich people, the drama does not fall short. the setting was one of my favorite parts, which includes an ornate mansion turned glamping resort surrounded by a forest (haunted? 😏) by local urban legends.

One thing I love about Lucy Foley’s stories is how there are so many small details and you don’t know what’s important or how things are all going to come together. You get to a point where things start to unravel and it’s magical. I have to stop and think back on those small details and appreciate how they all help the story come together in the end. I enjoy that this story is told in alternating POV’s as well as timelines. It keeps me turning pages.

The Midnight Feast is another solid thriller from Foley. She creates an enchanting world of an uber rich resort/wellness retreat whose owner has buried secrets. Throw in a childhood friend returning to uncover truths, town mythologies of birds that exact revenge, and completely unhinged characters, and you’re in for a ride.

Although it started a little slow, this is a must-read for thriller lovers!

I finished this in 3 days. The first 75% of this book was like collecting puzzle pieces scattered here and there, and the last 25% was assembling that intricate puzzle thoughtfully laid out by @lucyfoleyauthor 🧩 I couldn't put this book down for anything by the end. The twists just kept coming, and I'm pretty sure the last couple had me saying "oh my god" a few times out loud as I literally sat on the edge of my seat. I didn't see those last few twists coming 😲

I have never read anything by Lucy Foley before, though I heard a lot of positive things. So it was about time to see for myself what the fuss is about.

I’d say I start to understand it. From the beginning I found it very easy to get into the story. The writing is interesting and compelling.

I thoroughly enjoy a novel with multiple POV’s, though there’s a point when it gets too much. But this was very well balanced and the different voices were clear and easy to distinguish.

The story was woven very beautifully and the visual was vivid and very easy to imagine.

The only thing I might have wished for was a slightly faster pacing, but I guess this is a matter of taste.

All in all I felt satisfied and entertained with the book. A definite recommendation!

A definite PAGE TURNER!

A spooky thriller about a fancy resort with a dark past. It was very hard to put down. I loved how everything came together at the end! The last line was everything!

From the very first page, Foley's latest offering has firmly secured its place as my favorite among her works. While I understand that some readers may find the multiple POVs daunting, I found them expertly balanced in this narrative.

This gripping thriller kept me turning the pages, yet it skillfully avoided delving into overly terrifying territory. It struck the perfect balance, allowing me to still enjoy a peaceful night's sleep after indulging in its intricacies.

The multitude of unexpected twists in the final third of the book caught me completely off guard, reminiscent of the captivating unpredictability found in Agatha Christie's timeless mysteries.

One of the aspects I particularly relished was the incorporation of folklore and the rich tapestry of the town's history, adding layers of depth to the narrative.

In essence, this is a tale that ensnares the reader, holding them in its thrall until the very end.I believe that this work has the potential to be hailed as one of the top thrillers of 2024 upon its release.

It's the opening weekend at an expensive retreat at The Manor, a beautiful estate on a cliff overlooking the ocean to one side with a dense, ancient forest on the other. The hotel's opening is much to the displeasure of the locals who feel this land should be kept open for everyone's use, not just those who can afford the pricey rates. As the staff are preparing a "Midnight Feast" - an extravagant celebration on the evening of the solstice, we learn about the past lives of some of the staff and guests with alternating timelines from past (through journal entries) and present (through multiple povs).
Right at the beginning we learn that by the end of the night the place is on fire and there is a body at the bottom of the cliffs.... But who is dead? Who set the fire? What happened here all those years ago? Is there any truth to the old stories about The Birds? The story then unfolds the days and hours leading up to this big event as the reader tries to figure out who is dead and how it happened.
I thought this one was well done and liked how it all came together. I enjoyed the mystery unfolding in dual timelines, some good twists, and especially loved the local lore of the The Birds and the eerie ancient forest setting. 4.25*

With multiple POVs from the past and present as well as a diary, we learn secrets from the past. Secrets that could destroy lives and incriminate the guilty.

I really enjoyed Lucy Foley’s previous books and this one took a while to get into for me but ultimately didn’t disappoint!

Lucy Foley is a mastermind behind yet another mystery novel.. I loved The Guest List and this one had the same mystery behind it.

Not knowing the twists and turns of where this story was going to take you, The manor was full of secrets for the past 15 years and people were willing to keep them as that.. I absolutely couldn't stop reading this with the limited amount of characters within and the secrets that were unraveled, it was a wild ride.

"The Midnight Feast" by Lucy Foley left me feeling let down. I feel like Lucy is known for her POVs and character perspectives. This book was overkill in my opinion. You have multiple present POVs, a future, and a past. Multiple times I had to go back and refresh which POV I was on. I couldn’t keep up. The plot was slow and felt dragged out, making it hard to stay interested. I felt the plot jumped around and it was hard for me to keep
up on what was actually going on. The world-building felt dull and repetitive, and I struggled to connect with any of the characters. Some of the characters had interesting personalities, but not enough to completely pull me in. This is the first ARC I’ve received that I just couldn’t fall in love with. The style of writing felt kind of YA. Overall, it was a disappointing read, lacking the intrigue and excitement I had hoped for.

Absolutely Delicious! There was a lot to enjoy in this novel about a swanky hotel's opening night on the summer solstice. Told from multiple viewpoints, the reader learns about the tragic events that unfold at The Manor and how they affect each of the characters.

The novel is set in the English countryside and the locals are not happy that this posh, luxurious hotel has taken over land and beach access that has been open to the public. There is another darker, mysterious element to this story. There are birds who seek revenge and Francesca, the owner of the land and hotel, has been warned about them. As the reader we are trying to connect the dots as to what really happened on this land and why are so many people unhappy. As well as being told from different characters' point of view, there is a journal from 2009 that tells us more about some of the character's motivations and why things happened.

This was a very good mysterious thriller. It took me until the very end to figure everything out. I also enjoyed the setting and thought the author did an excellent job connecting everything together. I definitely recommend this novel to anyone looking for an intriguing thriller with mystery elements.

The Manor is the newest up and coming holiday hideaway with posh and exclusive accommodations set in the city of Tome. Tome is a city rich with history and traditions, which some of the locals choose to believe and others have chosen to forget about.

The Manor has an opening event during the summer solstice, the hottest night of the year, and everyone attending has secrets. The characters are all at the opening night for a reason. Tome’s oldest legend of The Birds, a group that enacts justice for the town comes to life in this gripping thriller. Written in multiple POV and multiple points of time, including journal entries from years past, the underlying reasons of all of the main characters for being at the opening night are revealed.

Great plot twists and an overall fast, enjoyable read. Perhaps some of the concepts were a little far fetched, but a decent thriller in my opinion.

In The Midnight Feast, a woman inherits land to which she turns into a boutique-style retreat for the wealthy… and the locals are angry. This is definitely my least favorite of the three Lucy Foley novels I’ve read. The Midnight Feast follows her usual format- slow burn, non-linear timeline, mystery, multiple points of view. I didn’t connect with the plot or any of the characters. I think the slow burn in fact TOO slow to keep my attention- you could skip the middle of the book and not miss out on much information.

This is a knock out book! Wow! I know I like Lucy Foley books but this one is on a different level! I absolutely adored and devoured this one.

With her traditional style of multiple points of view, this books takes you to the opening of a posh new hotel called The Manor in a rural style area.

The characters, Bella, Eddie, Francesca, and Owen were beautifully fleshed out in ways that made them feel realistic and fresh.

The cover was stunning the events in the book were electrifying. She slowly but surely provides just enough in each chapter to keep me guessing and wanting to move onto the next page.

I imagine this will be one of the best books of the summer!

I am a fan of Lucy Foley and her books but this one wasn't a favorite of mine. There were many characters and at times I found it difficult to keep track of who was who. Although I generally enjoy writing styles that include journal entries and multiple POVs I found it to be distracting in this story.

I do enjoy Lucy Foley's writing style so even though this book didn't hit the mark for me I will continue to explore her future writings.

A fantastic thriller that kept me guessing and hooked!! Lucy Foley does a great job writing love-to-hate characters!! Everything Francesca did was so cringe and made me roll my eyes so many times. I was disappointed in the ending until I realized it wasn't the ending at all and kept going! So many surprise twists and turns, another hit from Lucy Foley!
