I can say this is my favorite thriller of the year so far, it keeps you in suspense and the plot twist is something you didn’t see coming!!

This was the best of Lucy Foley's thrillers yet. I really enjoyed all the different perspectives and watching the story unfold in the present day, while also getting glimpses into the past and how it's all connected. The lore in this book was really interesting too. Overall, this was a very solid thriller that I couldn't put down.

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book. Partly it just wasn’t my taste with the folklore elements but I also thought it wasn’t very engaging. I never felt invested in the story/mystery and didn’t find any of the characters interesting. And the reveals and twists weren’t that shocking to me and one of them made me dislike part of the ending. I also wasn’t a fan of the journal entries and would maybe have preferred actual flashbacks instead. The setting and atmosphere imagery was well done and I think it captured the vibe of the story well. I would recommend this book for readers who like elements of folklore, toxic friendship dynamics, and discussions about social class.

Lucy Foley's latest novel is set in the evocative Manor, now a luxury wellness retreat, featuring her signature dual timelines and multiple perspectives. Although the plot is engaging with its suspenseful twists, the pacing is uneven and the characters are difficult to connect with. The narrative may feel a bit tedious at times, and the tidy ending might not satisfy all thriller enthusiasts.

This book stays true to Foley's style, making it a good pick for her fans and readers who appreciate intricate mysteries. While not the strongest in her collection, it offers a satisfactory mystery that's especially fitting for those looking for something different from typical romances or straightforward thrillers.

Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for my advanced reader. Copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

If you liked Lucy Foley's first books, then this one is an enjoyable read, however, it is my least favorite of hers so far. The setting & writing are the only positives from my experience reading it. I found the characters in this book to be really unlikable across the board and I didn't care what happened at the end, which to me is one of her strengths as she wraps up the multi-perspective twists. The mystery also feels really poorly paced and uninteresting with almost no lore on the wrap up which felt like a big miss throughout the book. Overall, would not recommend unless you like the author already and are interested in returning to her style because it is very on brand.

Okay wow, I so enjoyed this! I did not know going into this it would be a 5 star read for me but it totally was. The story has dual timelines between the past and present revolving around multiple main characters at the Manor they are staying / working at. I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what the secret was and what had happened. I usually think books like this have an ending that falls flat but not in this case. I think it wrapped up and ended perfectly.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC!

3/5 stars; this book was somewhat of a thriller/mystery and had twists and turns, but never fully captured my attention. I usually love Foley’s work, but this novel fell flat. The story line had A LOT of build up for some kind of ‘demonic/sinister event’ and in the end felt a bit lacking. Some of the twists made sense, but still didn’t finish the way I was hoping. The ending was almost too perfect for a mystery/thriller novel. I’ll continue to read Lucy Foley novels, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

The Midnight Feast started slow for me but by the end I raced to finish it. I will admit that this is not my standard genre of books- I tend to lean more towards romance and happy endings. So it was a fun departure to read something new and different!

The book takes place at the Manor. Francesca Woodland had inherited it from her grandparents and with the help of her architect husband Owen, had recently converted it into a luxury wellness retreat center. Opening weekend has arrived and the characters assembled to celebrate the solstice. The story moves back and forth between the present and the past- 15 years ago- and what happens in both timeframes unfolds throughout the book.

There are many characters to keep track of and many in the present day are not whom they seem to be. By the end, we learn what happened at the Manor all those years ago, who survived the present day weekend, and how it all connects. The author did a great job weaving that all together and I’m glad I experienced this book. But now back to my happy ever after titles until the next departure!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. And thank you to Lucy Foley for writing such an intriguing book!

Honestly, I don't think this was for me. I do really enjoy Foley's work, so I will be reading more from them, but I just had a really hard time getting into this!

This will undoubtedly appeal to the many Lucy Foley fans out there, but I personally found the storytelling to be a bit tedious and there were a few too many points of view, narrative formats, and flashbacks to various time periods for me to really connect with this one.

not my favorite thriller, it is very twisty and interesting but it didn't hooked me in, i had trouble connecting with the characters and that make it hard for me to truly enjoy it, i did enjoyed the main plot and turns and twists and I'm excited to discover more books from these writer, enjoyed the book overall, but for the lack of connection with the characters its not a favorite

I really enjoyed this book! I liked the cultish murder mystery vibes and the secluded setting. There were good reveals throughout and I hadn’t guessed any of them. I liked the unreliable characters. I didn’t know who to trust, as they all had something to hide. The ending wasn’t super shocking, but I did like all the little reveals.

“Midnight Feast” by Lucy Foley
This book had a slow build, however I did continue to read as I’ve enjoyed a couple of author’s previous books. The story had page turning moments and twist and turns that I enjoy. One aspects of the story I didn’t care for was the introduction of the birds. I will continue to read her books as this may just be one that didn’t hit right for me.

Go now! Go order this book! It’s creepy. It’s twisted. The revenge! The surprises! I always love Foley’s novels but this was her best yet. You’ll never walk through the woods the same way! Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to review!

This was my first Lucy Foley book. I was very excited to read her work after hearing so many good things. This book was interesting but didn’t seem to keep me intrigued throughout the entire
book. I was surprised finding out I was wrong in guessing the ending. I will definitely be reading her other books.

Loved, loved The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley . As with all her books, Ms. Foley gives us well-defined characters with long histories, conflicts and back stories. And as usual, there are many surprises and a most amazing ending. When a group of teenagers from the town of Tome are thrown together again at the opening of The Manor, everyone is there for their own personal reasons. Soon old problems begin to arise. They have issues that they have carried for years, and each one tries in their own way to resolve the issues. The town is steep in old superstitions, folklore, and jealousy. When a dead body is discovered (a possible murder), you have an exceptional story. I very much enjoyed this book. Lucy Foley never fails to tell a remarkable story.

summary:
So excited to get an ARC of Lucy Foley’s newest book, THE MIDNIGHT FEAST, which comes out June 18! This book is about the opening weekend of the Manor, a grand hotel built to perfection with an infinity pool, a homeopathic spa, and everything a guest could ever want or need. We follow the story from the POV’s of Francesca, the owner, her husband Owen, a dishwasher Eddie and Bella, a hotel guest with a hidden agenda. Cutting back and forth between the start of the weekend and Sunday morning, where the police are called in to investigate a fire and a death, we learn what happened that opening weekend, and how the secrets of both the staff and the guests led to its downfall.

This story is FULL of mysteries and details, in a way that keeps you pulled in from the first page until the end. We learn so much about the characters and their backstories through their chapters, and I couldn’t help but love Eddie, the young dishwasher looking to keep his family’s head above water. Their stories are fascinating, and through them we learn of a web of secrets and lies stemming back fifteen years, and how they all got there. I loved the setting too — a mysterious forest in the middle of nowhere, hiding its own secrets amid the hotel’s grounds. The author paints such a clear picture of the details of the weekend, so much so you can almost feel like one of the guests. My only complaint is that the character’s backstories can be a bit hard to follow and keep track of, but if you’re able to, every detail gets addressed by the end. I did love though the complexity of this story and how it wraps up in a satisfying way.

For anyone who loves a thriller crossed with a little fantasy, this book is for YOU.

I was drawn to the premise of this book, as it promised to be thrilling and entertaining! Seeing as it was my first Lucy Foley book, I was excited to see what her story telling and multiple POVs was like. There were a lot of different nuances and plot lines that made the story feel engaging. I enjoyed that there was an additional POV for after the solstice.

While I think the premise was interesting, I feel like the book fell flat for me. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and the multiple POVs made it difficult for me to stay engaged while reading. The diary entries were a nice twist and it was interesting to see how it was woven into the story itself. After finishing the book, I do understand why she structured it the way she did.

Despite not loving this book as much, I am still curious about what her other books are like, especially since I have heard such good things. If you enjoy multiple POVs and thrillers, this is the perfect book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for sending be a digital review copy in exchange for an honest review!

I’m not sure what happened, the first two Lucy Foley books I read were 5 stars. The last two were 1 stars - did not finish. I really didn’t know what I was getting into with this one but it was definitely not my taste.

I received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a review and opinion are my own.

This was a fun one!

Lucy Foley once again delivers a great mystery that turns so many times that even if you get one or two plots figured out there’s still going to be a few you never saw coming. I really loved the sort of magical/supernatural element of this one.

Thank you Willow Marrow and NetGalley for the ARC of this one!
