Sophie H. Morgan is quickly becoming one of my favorite paranormal romance authors. Her worldbuilding and characters are cozy, realistic, and make readers want to stay in her world for just a little longer.

Leah and Gabriel are the perfect opposites attract couple. Their banter and obvious chemistry are off the charts. The obstacles they face are real and don’t feel contrived. I eagerly await the next book in the series and I might just go back and re-read the first one again!

A cute, witchy rom com! Just a fun and light read with a little forbidden love action. Aaaaand it’s part of a “series” but you wouldn’t even know it!

This was such a cute book and I’m adding the first book in the series to my TBR. Love a brooding MMC falling for the spunky FMC. You get fun side characters, witches, and dogs too!

This story grabbed my attention and kept me hooked from the get-go! Awesome story. I could have read this in one sitting; had I had the free time.

I loved Leah and Gabriel's story. A human and a Warlock; what could go wrong?! They're so different in some ways ns so alike in others; they definitely make each other better.

I didn't read the first book in this series; it did not detract from this story in the least. There are strong characters and a great storyline. OKG, I wanted an Epilogue; but, maybe there will be more to their story in subsequent books.

I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy courtesy of Harlequin Publishing, the author and Netgalley. This was a cozy fallish read to the very hot temperatures we are having where I live. I binge read this in a weekend because I could not put it down, and could not stop chanting for these two!!!

This is the second novel in the Toil and Trouble series. This novel follows Leah Turner, a human, as she operates within witch society. Leah’s closest friends are witches however she is not supposed to know. Gabriel is a witch whom takes a job at Leah’s bar after being raised by humans due to having lost his parents. As soon as he begins working for her the cutest slow burn and grumpy sunshine romance begins that will take readers on a fun adventure. The two have obvious feelings for one another however are they able to make it work with him being a witch and her being human?

Highly recommend this fall read to all readers who love witches, romance, and grumpy sunshine!

The Witch is back is a book that I recommended to so many so I was very excited to be blessed with an early copy of De-Witched! After feeling that I was falling out of love with grumpy sunshine romances this book brought me back to life! Of course the magic and romance could not be beat either.

My Thoughts

Sweet with heat this romantic comedy is a slow burner that was set up nicely and executed well for the main characters Leah Turner, human, and Gabriel Goodnight, warlock.

Take one excitable good natured funny and fun-loving Human female throw in a dark brooding human intolerant Warlock mix well and you have the cocktail ingredients necessary for a story that has both humor and heart from beginning to end.

Like first book we are treated to a multitude of interesting characters, magic and more that would allow the author leeway to continue building on this series with future books.

I for one look forward to finding out whose turn comes next.

I liked this story. It was cute and fun. It had a bit of spice too. It felt a bit like a fairytale. I enjoyed the story of Gabriel and Leah. It had a Romeo and Juliet dynamic. Star-crossed lovers a human and a witch.

This was not my favorite witchy book. I didn’t fully love the way the story flowed. I just found it a bit difficult to finish

Absolutely loved this book. I thought I had figured out who the "enemy" was very early in the book and I was VERY wrong. Such a good twist. Leah is the sunshine to Gabriel's grump.

Leah knows about the supernatural world because her two best friends she owns a bar with got drunk one night and accidentally told her they were witches. Leah tries to find the good in everything and spends her time volunteering at a failing animal rescue.

To take over as CEO of his families company, Gabriel must live for 3 months with humans, without magic. Because of how his parents died, Gabriel hates all humans and this is the ultimate hurdle to taking over his parents company. Enter Toil and Trouble, Leah's bar. He starts a job there and Leah immediately starts nettling the stuffy warlock.

Hilarious ensues! This book has be giggling and kicking my feet at points. Such great full rounded characters, world building and intrigue in this romance. Will be telling everyone to read it!

I loved this book!

It is charming and adorable! I loved Leah and Gabriel! They had instant chemistry the moment they first met and it continued to grow throughout the book. I enjoyed all the banter between them. It kept me hooked the entire time.
This is perfect for fans of grumpy x sunshine trope. I highly recommend giving this book a read!

I absolutely adored this book. Very much grumpy/sunshine romance. I have been waiting to see Leah's story since the first book, The Witch is Back. I was kind of hoping she and Kole would get together but I absolutely adore her with Gabriel. Both Gabriel and Leah have some scars from the past but together and with the help of their furry friends, they're able to work through their issues and find love. Everyone in this book seems to have secrets and while some are revealed, others are left to be discovered in future books. This has me very excited to read the next book in this series. Also I'm ready to read what will most certainly be an explosive reconciliation book between Tia and Henry!!! I'm also curious about what will happen for Kole who I have come to love so much in these two books.

This was adorable! I really enjoyed book one and had high hopes for this one. I'm so happy to say it didn't disappoint. It would've been fun to see more magic, but I understand why that wasn't part of the story as much. The main characters were likable, and I really love the found family between the girls. I'm looking forward to the next story!

I wanted to like this more than I did! The synopsis is exactly what you’re going to get out of this book. The magic elements are fun but not overpowering. I love a book with animal lovers and rescue animals so that was a positive ❤️. Easy to read. It’s a slow, slow burn until about 50% in. Ultimately, it was hard to feel connected to the characters, I would have liked some more drama? Plot twists? Something was missing. I really lost interested about 30% of the way in and kept pushing through. It just got repetitive and a bit boring. It’s a cute read but left much to be desired.

Toil and Trouble by Sophie Morgan is a magical romance that swept me off my feet! It's got Leah, a fun-loving human, and Gabriel, a serious warlock, thrown together in unexpected ways. Their banter and chemistry are like fireworks, and watching their romance unfold is pure joy. If you love rom-coms with a magical twist, this book is for you!

I really wanted to enjoy this story, but I could tell very quickly that it wasn’t going to mesh well with me. From the first page, the writing felt choppy and difficult to read. Some of this may have been due to the third-person POV, as this can be difficult to execute well in the romance genre when following both MCs.

I did appreciate that there was depth to the MCs; however, sometimes the dialogue or interactions came across as juvenile. I found myself wanting to step away from the story multiple times, which pushed my overall rating down, as well. I was slightly disappointed by this, as I remember enjoying the first installment in this series a bit more.

Very enjoyable. A fun mix of romance, magic, friendship, animals. I welcomed the refreshing "supporting setting" --volunteering in an animal shelter!

I highly recommend this romance and look forward to reading more by this author!

(I hope Kole's book is coming next!) Watching this slow burn was such a treat. I love Sophie Morgan's writing, and I'm looking forward to more! ❤️

I wasn’t a big fan of the first book in this series. But there were things I liked about it. I wanted to give this second book a chance. I'm so glad that I did. I really enjoyed this book. Their romance was beautiful. I loved how raw the characters were at times. I loved seeing the MMC opening up to the world around him after losing his parents at 18. It’s the kind of witchy rom-com that I love. I can see a lot of people falling in love with the main characters. If you love books like The Ex Hex or Not the Witch You Wed then I think you would enjoy this one!

I highly recommend it!
