I am such a huge fan of Portia MacIntosh’s writing, and having read many of her other books, I was really hoping I would love The Suite Life just as much – and I really did. This story centres around the main character, Gigi. Her sister, Lucy, is getting married in the beautiful Hawaii, and Gigi is her bridesmaid. She should be super excited about spending time in such a beautiful place for her sister’s wedding. There is just one problem – her ex-boyfriend, Nathan, is the best man, Oh and what makes it even worse, is that Nathan is brining Sunshine, his new girlfriend, to the wedding.

Gigi is distraught by this, and in a panic at going to the wedding without a date, starts frantically dating in the hope of finding someone to be her ‘plus one’ for the wedding. And even when she arrives in Hawaii, her ‘plus one’ search continues. And this is where we are introduced to Donnie. We watch the friendship develop between Gigi and Donnie. Could this be anything more than a friendship?

The Suite Life is another fantastic book from the Queen of Romcom. The perfect fun summer-time read 🌞

The Suite Life is another enjoyable read by Portia MacIntosh. I’ve read many novels by the author that have been either amazing for me or a slight miss. This one was towards the hit side, but it was not my top read by her. Her signature style is prominent in the writing as there is an ease to the reading experience along with an entertaining romance. This novel begins in London where Gigi is trying to figure everything out as she prepares to go to Maui to be the maid of honor at her sister’s destination wedding. She is not looking forward to seeing her ex, Nathan, again as he also happens to be the best man. He will also be attending with his new reality star girlfriend, so Gigi decides that she needs to show up with a date of her own.

The story follows Gigi on her journey from landing in Maui to find her suite that has been upgraded to her many bad dates in search of the perfect one. At the resort, she enlists the help of guest Donnie who is there healing from a broken heart as her wingman. This part I think needed a little more exploration about why the wingman storyline was used rather than going straight to Donnie posing as her date for the wedding. As Donnie doesn’t get as involved in Gigi’s journey until about the 30% mark, I think it was missed opportunity to give more bonding time between him and Gigi. For me, I would have preferred Gigi meeting Donnie early on, him helping her with more bad dates, and then also adding more focus on wedding events. With the amazing setting of Maui for a wedding, I think weaving all these elements together would have made the story a little more dynamic. Overall, the concept of the story was very enjoyable, and I continue to enjoy MacIntosh’s work. There were a few elements that I think could use some improvement, but I would easily read more from MacIntosh in the future.

**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Boldwood Books, for the opportunity to read this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

Portia Macintosh is fast becoming a favorite author of mine. Her books are always a delight and this one is no exception. A great summertime read.

Oh Gigi what a delightful little tonic you are. If anyone’s life deserves an upgrade it’s you. Your ex is a complete twazzack and his new girl is definitely a downgrade.

I have only previously read one book from this author but it was cute and very funny so I was hoping this would be more of the same. Dear readers it was, I mean apart from the horror of spending time at a luxury resort with your ex and his new demon girlfriend. That horror soon turns to joy when weirdly Gigi starts being treated like royalty, Hollywood or English monarchy you take your pick.

Cheap room to a beautiful suite, free drinks and entry to the gold VIP areas plus a yacht at your disposal, count me in. Surely there’s a catch though? As Gigi discovers a case of mistaken identity should she own up or instead take the advice of another guest and concentrate on finding a date for the wedding, especially when he offers his services of wingman.

This book took me on a luxury sunshine trip, introduced me to some brilliant characters and all from the comfort of my sofa with the cold wet weather looming outside. Just joyful!

@portiamacintoshauthor is a prolific author and if you’ve read any of her other destination books you’ll know you’re in for a good time.

Gigi, in Hawaii to celebrate her sister’s wedding, falls lucky when she arrives at her hotel to be given the upgrade to end all upgrades!

Whilst she’s living her luxury life she’s also trying to find a plus one to take away the pain of facing her ex, also part of the wedding party and his new influencer girlfriend.

It’s a lighthearted romp, in the space of a holiday there’s a first dates with varying outcomes, mix ups, friends, enemies and exes and a wedding!

The April weather is awful here in the UK so what’s better than escaping to Hawaii for a fun rom com.

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this fun book.

I always look forward to my next read by Macintosh as they're guaranteed to put a smile on my face - they're fun, easy reading - and always an absolute delight.

The scenes are set in Hawaii and you literally can't get much closer to perfection than that can you?

Sun, sea, sand and a luxurious suite await our hapless heroine, as Gigi hits Hawaii and embarks on the hunt for a fake date to be her plus one on her sister's big day.

The Suite Life is the perfect summer beach read. It's entertaining, enjoyable and has some fun characters.

This was a fun, light story that would make a great beach read! I had fun reading about Gigi and her mission of finding an impressive date for her sister's wedding. I was rooting for her the whole time! I enjoyed some of the side characters and banter, and the story made me wish I was on a fancy resort in Hawaii too!

What an endearing read!
I loved how Gigi was treated when she got to Hawaii. I thought she’d been getting the shaft by everyone up to that point,
I love that the wedding was set on Maui, having just been there last year I could see everything vividly.
I wanted to push Nathan and stupid Sunshine off a Maui mountain. Gigi is way too forgiving to wards them. She has a huge heart, much bigger than mine.
I loved how the mystery of Donnie was solved and I didn’t know he was a mystery.
It’s a heartwarming read. 3 cheers for Gigi!

Once again Portia MacIntosh manages to get her story spot on when it comes to a great plot, shining characters and great comedy moments, that have you laughing your head off at the hilarious situations her characters get themselves into!!
Poor Gigi, she’s single while her ex has moved on to be with a celebrity! Her sister’s wedding is coming up and she’s pulling out all the stops to get a date to take to the wedding to show she’s moved on from Nathan, as he is her brother in law’s best man!! Her friends try to hook her up with people, she tries lots of methods to get someone suitable to go with her! The richer and more successful the better!!!
Honestly, I love Portia’s books because the characters are so likeable, mixed up with a little bit of wickedness!!!
Fantastic!!!

A fun, light read! I picked it up because it's partially set in Hawaii (my fave). It's a fast read (less than 300 pages) so it's a perfect beach read, weekend read, vacation read, etc. GiGi was a fun main character!

This is an outstanding book that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. It’s a fun case of mistaken identity at an exclusive tropical resort on the Hawaiian island of Maui, where a destination wedding is about to take place.

Gigi is the bride’s sister, she’s recently broken up with her ex, Nathan, who’s the groom’s best friend. Nathan left her for a famous influencer named Sunshine, and they’re both at the wedding. Gigi doesn’t have a date…yet…

When Gigi checks in to the luxury resort, she’s upgraded to a sumptuous suite and the staff treats her like royalty. She doesn’t question it, she’s just grateful for the attention and the extras. She meets and hits it off with a down to earth guy named Donnie, and when she figures out why she’s getting the royal treatment they decide to sit back and enjoy it.

I don’t want to give anything away, this book is just delightfully fun, especially the reactions to her upgrades of the people around her. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a tropical escape!
4.5 stars

Gigi needs a date for her sister’s Hawaiian wedding—especially since her ex is the best man, and his new girlfriend a reality TV star. A hotel room mix-up leads to a luxurious upgrade, where Gigi is pampered like royalty. Despite suspicions, she indulges in the extravagance. Will this twist of fate deliver the perfect wedding date?

What a fun book! This heartwarming rom com has likeable characters and an engaging plot. The audiobook narration by Karen Cass is like a breath of fresh air.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Another really fun release from Portia MacIntosh - one of my one-click favourite authors! I had a great time reading this storyline, which was unexpected and unique and just really enjoyable. Another of her 5-star titles!

Gigi ends up having to attend her sister’s destination wedding in Hawaii solo, and a booking mishap lands her in a suite when the hotel staff believes she’s someone else. Everyone is suddenly paying her a whole lot of attention when she’s normally under the radar - and she’s enjoying the upgrades, the male attention and the freebies. When she makes friends with a gentleman she crosses paths with on arrival, and who her ex (unfortunately the groom’s bestie and best man) has a rude run in with, Donnie, he becomes her wing-man to try and find a wedding date from the resort guests. Why not go himself, you might ask? He just went through a terrible break up…

As Gigi and Donnie enjoy their time meeting people, living the sweet suite life, Gigi discovers the case of mistaken identity and why she’s getting the extra attention, and keeps the knowledge under wraps from her friends and family. She’s enjoying rubbing her ex’s new influencer girlfriend’s nose in her special treatment and that she’s getting snubbed by the hotel.

So much fun and some really excellent twists… a couple things I guessed might be coming up and some things I got right - definitely recommend this one to all, as it’s certainly one of my favourite MacIntosh plots!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books, and this is my honest feedback.

A super fun, easy breezy page turner that is actually filled with laugh out loud moments! Love, Love, Love the Island setting and oh to be upgraded to a suite like that would be divine! I thank Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book!

My sincere thanks to @theboldbookclub and @netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read Portia MacIntosh's latest book for which I give my unbiased opinion in the following review.

Gigi is excited about her sister's wedding. What she is not excited about is that she is maid of honor, and her ex is the best man. Not only will she have to be stuck at a resort in Hawaii with her ex, but he is bringing his new girlfriend who is a well-known influencer that treats Gigi like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Gigi enlists the help of her friends to try and find her a date that will rival her ex's to no avail and a good amount of comedy. Once in Hawaii, she is still determined to find herself someone to be her plus one. She sees her luck changing when she is upgraded to a luxury suite with all the amenities. Why question that kind of luck. Now to find the right man for the job.

Portia MacIntosh has a way with writing humorous situations that although kind of unbelievable read like they could definitely happen. The Suite Life is a cute rom-com. I enjoyed Gigi as a character. I loved how she never gave up and put herself out there even when she didn't feel all that sure of herself. I loved that she was able to laugh at herself and shared her mishaps with her friends.

This is the second Portia MacIntosh book I've read this year, and I do enjoy her writing style. While I liked Ex in the City a little more, I will definitely keep my eye open for what she writes next.
