It hurts to leave a bad review when you can tell how hard the author is trying. And they really are trying, just not landing. Dialog is clunky and formulaic. Jumps too readily between the things it's trying to do. Has jokes that are more for the author than the target audience.

This had everything that I was looking for from a children’s fantasy fiction novel, it was a strong start to the Empok Anima Trilogy series. I enjoyed how well everything was done and enjoyed the feel of this book. The characters were everything that I wanted and enjoyed how everything that I was looking for. I can’t wait to read more in this series and from Fyl Frazee.
