Great book for a beginner to macrame. It was very well explained and easy to understand. Very cute projects.

The best part of this book was the colours that the author used. The macrame books that I have chanced upon before usually use a more delicate shade to better focus on the pattern itself.

Here, the author uses bold colours to emphasize the design and even goes so far as to add paint to some embellishments. The pictures are a little misleading as to the size of the result. It is better to focus on the values provided than the picture to imagine the end. When I started my project, I envisioned it to be larger than the result I got, but I went back to check, and sure enough, in the individual frames that the instructions are given, we can see the size in reference to the author’s hand.

I am reviewing this book with great enthusiasm because I spent a lot of time on the project I chose. I may not have chosen the exact same colours, or even the kinds of threads but I was happy with the end result and the process of following the instructions was straightforward.

This book will work well even for beginners as long as they take it one step at a time and do things almost exactly as the author instructs. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to give macrame home projects a shot. There are a variety of ideas including and not limited to fruit baskets, plant hangers and just wall hangings.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading and working experience with the book.

I was there when macrame was in fashion some years back, it was fun then and it hasn't changed much over the years. This book is really informative, with lots of photos and easy to follow instruction. The patterns are really stunning, very modern and really very easy to make. Not much equipment is required and the cord is easily available at little cost or can be improvised. Brings back happy memories .Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DR

Sweet Home Macrame is a tutorial crafting guide for learning macramé by Casey Alberti. Released 14th May 2024 by Quarto on their Walter Foster imprint, it's 128 pages and available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is an appealing and well written tutorial for learning the skills necessary to complete any of the 12 included projects. The introduction and basic tools and materials guides (~25% of the page content) cover sourcing supplies and learning the basics of macramé. The following section includes the tutorials: home decor, coasters, plant hangers, and a really nice micro-macrame project in the form of attractive earrings.

For anyone who lived through the 70's and for whom the word macramé summons to mind 'rustic' jute plant hangers in lime green, orange, and russet brown, this book is full of completely updated and modern/neutral and vibrant color schemes and projects which will look good in modern homes. It includes both large projects such as wall hangers, as well as smaller projects such as coasters and the aforementioned earrings.

The layout and typesetting are appealing and accessible. The instructions are very clearly written and easy to follow and, more importantly for visual learners, very well photographed. The weaving and knotting diagrams are well drawn and simple to follow. These are nice projects and can be adapted to suit any decor. Each of the projects includes a description, a bullet list of supplies, and step by step directions with photographs.

The end of the book includes a very short supplies resource list, and readers will also have no trouble sourcing necessary tools and gear via internet e-tailers or local crafts/hobby suppliers.

Four and a half stars. There's a lot to like here.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Some good basic macrame projects. Best for an adult as they are mostly home decor type items that youth will not enjoy. Knot tying information was helpful

This was a fun and great beginning macrame book with great pictures of how to get things going and fun projects to try out. I feel like this is great for someone who wants to learn via book or wants physical pictures to reference. There's a few projects in the book I would love to try in the future.

As someone who is brand new to fiber arts, and has only been working with fiber crafts for a few months, this book was absolutely amazing to read through.

The steps are outlined clearly and concisely, with beautiful visuals to match. I found that as a beginner, it was easy to follow the steps while reading them. Practicing, however, is definitely going to take a lot of time to get things down pat. However, the visual guidelines that go with the steps really help to see where you may have went wrong in the process.

I'm very excited to continue my pursuit of fiber art through Sweet Home Macrame: A Beginner's Guide to Macrame. I will certainly be sharing these projects with my students as soon as I'm more comfortable creating these wonderful works of art!

Thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group, Walter Foster Publishing, and Casey Alberti for providing me with an ARC to review.

"Sweet Home Macrame" is a great starting point if your Instagram feed has been luring you to try your hand at macrame but the video guides are sped up to the point of making it impossible to track the movements. Each step of the process is clearly visualised through photography ensuring that even if you're like me and feel like you have two left hands, you can still follow along with relative ease and make some nifty macrame projects. If you have a bad habit of buying too many craft supplies, this book certainly won't help keep your stash any smaller, because you will be tempted to grow your yarn collection until it overflows your closet.

A lovely range of projects on offer in this beginner's guide to macrame (I would say some patterns are more advanced than others) I'm not a complete novice at macrame - though I've mostly been self-taught in so much I've mostly made plant hangers previously from copying a vintage 70s hanger my mum had acquired some decades ago, so it's been lovely to learn some new techniques and patterns beyond the two very basic stitches. I do recommend, starting with a project like the rainbow plant hanger before attempting the more complex wall hanging plant options.

I have been wanting to incorporate more creative hobbies into my free time and I’ve always wanted to take up macrame. Sweet Home Macrame has been the perfect guide to learning the craft. The instructions are very clear and thorough and I really appreciated the guide of tools and materials you will need to get started. The photos are so vibrant and provide wonderful inspiration. My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a great book with beautiful photos and detailed instructions. I thought I might be interested in learning macrame and while I enjoyed this book and it was beautifully made and well written, it helped me realize I enjoy other fiber arts more and already have the materials. I might be able to use some of the macrame skills and knots in those other fiber art hobbies in the future after they have a chance to sink in and percolate a bit. You never know, maybe I’ll circle back around lol.
