As always Susan Mallory’s writing is a pleasure to read. Her work is always clear and cohesive and, better yet, humorous. From entire scenes to one-liners I usually find myself giggling through this series.

The growing town of Fool’s Gold is a place I wish I could move to. It is a little on the small side where the rumour mill runs rampant, but that also works out because everyone rallies around you if help is needed. It has charm, all four seasons, and friendly people. If I could magically transfer myself into a character in order to live in Fool’s Gold, I likely would. Where else do friends come over for margarita parties when someone’s heart is broken, coffee owners make deliveries when all-nighters are needed, not to mention an elephant…

I adore how Noelle is the strong person in the relationship without being overwhelming. She lives life to the fullest and allows herself to be in love because she’d rather deal with a broken heart than regret never trying. When things don’t work out the way she hopes, Noelle accepts it as part of living rather than whining and whinging. Because she has that strength, Noelle is a perfect match for a soldier in need of emotional healing. The only thing that troubled me about this relationship is that it goes from zero-to-sixty in about a month’s time, though the ending was a perfect fit for the story.

The Fool’s Gold books are one of my favourite contemporary romance series, and this one did not disappoint.

I enjoyed Noelle and Gabriel’s story at the time. I don’t recall and specific details that I liked, nor did a write a review when I finished reading it. Sorry.
