I liked it, good solid read!

If you love 90's and 00's Prime Time Dramas you will absolutely adore this book and it's story.

It is full of the feel good tv you love and chased with a shot of reality that makes you relate with the characters

When your life is turned upside down and you are put into your favorite show what would you do?

What a cute story! And so creative. This one took the idea of, “if television shows were real…”.

Brynn and Josh are apartment-mates and never really got to know each other, but all that changed when her birthday wish came true and she and Josh were transported to Carson’s Cove as two of the players in the story. The author is really creative with the whole plot line. I kept wondering how it was all going to turn out! This book delivered some good life lessons while it was leading us down the garden path.

I really enjoyed it! Four twinkling stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Be careful what you wish for!

When Brynn, a divorcee and uber-fan of the teen drama series Carson’s Cove (think Dawson’s Creek), blows out the candle on her 30th birthday cake, she wishes “to finally get the perfect happily ever after.” So, when she wakes up the next morning in Carson’s Cove, which she described as “comfort food in television form” and the show that helped her through her difficult teenage years and was a balm after her life fell apart post-divorce, she’s cautiously excited. Unfortunately, her roommate Josh, who she’s just recently realized she’s attracted to, has traversed the space-time continuum with her. According to Sheldon, the evil mastermind who caused their teleportation, the only way to get back home is for Brynn to play Sloan, fall in love with Spencer (the teen heart throbs who never got their happy ending when the show was abruptly cancelled), and live happily ever after. Unfortunately, after 15 years, they aren’t the same people and the idealized, made-for-tv version of this charming small town isn’t what it appears to be. What’s a woman to do when she gets everything she wished for, but no longer wants it?

I generally enjoy a romance with a bit of magical realism, and this unique story is no exception. I do wonder how Sheldon was able to make it all happen, but beyond that, it was fun to see how perfection on the screen hides the messy reality that is life. This story has a bit of everything: pseudo-villains, false friends, a love triangle, small town romance, falling for the bad boy, female empowerment, and more. The chemistry between Brynn and Josh is smoking, all characters are well-defined, the dual POV was a plus, and the pacing is on point. If you’re looking for a fun, low stakes romance, check this one out. Recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC. This book gave so many nostalgic vibes. A good second chance romance book and definitely a really good debut novel for this author!

This Spells Love was a favorite read of mine last year so I was SO excited to read Kate Robb’s new book!

I was a HUGE 90210 fan. Seriously I wept when Dylan’s wife got murdered and he left the show. I really was inconsolable for days. I also was a Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill stan and wished I could be living life like those characters.

The premise of this story was so original and so fun! Imagine if you could become a character in one of your favorite shows and rewrite the ending! Or if the show got canceled, give it an ending! I really loved following along on Brynn’s journey where she gets transported into her favorite show Carson’s Cove and becomes the leading character.

I love Robb’s writing. She incorporates magical realism into her stories seamlessly. She also writes characters you really end up loving. Brynn is such a likable character and so is her roommate Josh. I loved the character development and also the dual POV. There are also themes of found family, knowing who you are, and stepping out of your comfort zone.

I just loved this one so much and can’t wait for you to read it!

4.5 stars!

I enjoyed Kate's first book, This Spells Love, so was excited to see her sophomore title also had a bit of whimsy in it. This book was fun and a quick read. It hit a lot of nostalgia notes for Millenial readers who grew up on Dawson's Creek and other teen dramas. But ultimately it fell a little flat for me. I wanted a little more backstory on Josh and Brynn and I wished Brynn would have had more of a backbone throughout the story.

I voluntarily read a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was my first Kate Robb book

And it was OK, buy I did take a few times picking it up and putting it down to finish it.

You know the grass is always greener? This makes you think "but is it really?"

I didn't really feel anything for the characters. I adore a friends to lovers story, but Brynn and Josh,j I just didn't feel it with them. They just.... were. I didn't feel any pull between them, any spark. I really didn't feel like they were anything but friends, even at the end.

I did like the premise, of ending up in the world of your favourite TV show (can someone place me in the back seat of Baby with Dean Winchester, pls and thx haha). The execution just fell flat for me.

Kate Robbs debut - THIS SPELLS LOVE - was adorable and I couldn’t wait to read her second book - PRIME TIME ROMANCE. While I love Robbs writing style, this one didn’t work for me.

My thoughts:
-magical realism didn’t work for me in this one
-enjoyed the dual POV
-hard to keep track of the characters
-read if you love Dawsons Creek

The steam was fine and I did enjoy the chemistry between Brynn and Josh, but it left me confused. I’d give this a try if it sounds interesting to you, but def pick up THIS SPELLS LOVE!

This book reminded me so much why I loved Pacey and Dawson gave me a wicked case of second hand embarrassment. It reminded me why I loved Dawson’s Creek so much and all the teen dramas of my youth.

I enjoyed this book more than Kate Robb’s debut book This Spells Love. I really enjoyed the first 70% of this book but the last 30% fell as little flat to me. It wrapped everything up a little bit too nicely. I really loved the side story of the best friend maybe being the villain all along and the villain turning out to be the nice girl.

I really loved in this book how for a chance Brynn and Josh didn’t have a falling out before realizing they loved each other. Sometimes the romance formula of couples have a big climatic fight and breaking up really turns me off I book so I was pleased this book skipped out on that.

I will continue reading and enjoying Kate Robb’s books, especially after inhaling this book in a day. It was a nice and easy read.

There is so much nostalgia packed into one romance novel. The story follows a fan of a 90s teen drama. It's her comfort show and she has watched it so many times, she knows it all by heart. She makes a wish on her birthday and ends up in the TV show with her roommate. There were a lot of Easter eggs in this and Carson's Cove was reminiscent of Dawson's Creek and some references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and more. All the shows I watched as a teenager. So this book was a lot of fun. My only niggle was that it wasn't clear how this parallel universe worked.

I fudging loved this book.

Short Synopsis:
Brynn is newly divorced and doesn’t quite believe her happily ever after is in the cards. She spends her free time watching Carson’s Cove (think Dawson’s Creek) on Netflix. Until it’s her birthday, she’s at a bar, the bartender also happens to be her roommate, Josh, and she gets a ride home with him and makes a birthday wish. Next thing she knows they both wake up in Carson’s Cove.

My Thoughts:
This book was so much fun! I adore magical realism romcoms and this was just so much fun. And I loved the nod to 90s sitcoms. It was sweet, yet funny. And had me laughing the whole book.

What You’ll Find:
Friends to lovers
Dawson’s Creek vibes
Small town romance
One liners
Self growth

I loved this book! Right off the bat I had « Pleasantville » vibes just from the synopsis, one of my favorite movie growing up.

The loved the characters of Brynn and Josh. It was nice to have both their POVs and see their relationship develop!

I loved the concept of going into one of your favorite TV series to continue the story. So many series finish or get cancelled to early. Many Easter eggs and the bonus at the end of the book is a must read!

I think Kate Robb did an awesome job with this book and I can’t wait to read more from her!

This book was bizarrely fun. It was such a unique premise. Our main character, Brynn, makes a wish on her birthday and ends up getting her and her roommate, Josh, sucked into her favorite tv show (Dawson Creek vibes) where she finds herself as the main character, Sloan. There's a mysterious (sinister) extra who won't send them back until Sloan gets the ending "she deserves" since the show never got its final season. All in all, the book was fun but left me asking so many questions at the end.

Kate Robb is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! I just the love Venn diagram of romantic comedies and magical realism and Kate Robb nails both!

I loved her debut novel This Spells Love and jumped at the chance to read this! Something about her writing just lingers in me for days, weeks… even months. I think she has written some of the best love scenes I’ve read. So much emotion and passion comes through in her words!

Prime Time Romance is a breath of fresh air from the run-of-the-mill tropey romcoms. The concept of this book is so unique and fun! I felt on the edge of my seat, filled with wonder, from the very beginning. Brynn and Josh’s dual POV experience in the fictional made-for-TV town Carson’s Cove makes for some good comedy and watching their love unfurl was completely dreamy. My only complaint is that I didn’t feel very invested in Brynn’s character. I think if her character had been a bit more fleshed out, I would have cared more for her, however my love for Josh made up for it!

Prime Time Romance is a perfect romantic comedy for those looking for a sweet and spicy break from reality!

This was such a cute read! I loved the magical element, the adorable little town, and the swoony romance.

Brynn's life is not going as planned. After a divorce that came out of nowhere, she longs for the sweet simplicity of her favorite TV show from her teen years, Cade's Cove. When a stranger shows up on her birthday with a cake and a candle, she makes a wish that life was still that tidy. The next morning, she and her roommate, Josh, wake up in the idyllic town and are put on a mission to finish out the happily ever after. But things are more complicated than they seem when she starts falling for the bad boy bartender (aka Josh) instead of the town's golden boy. Maybe life shouldn't be so tidy after all?

If you are a Hallmark movie fan or enjoyed Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, or any show similar to that, this book is for you! It's so atmospheric. I can clearly picture the quaint little town and all the picture perfect people. I loved Brynn and Josh's messy stories as they grew close. I also loved all the small town roles that people filled and grew out of. I even liked the slightly sinister villain character. This book was a fun read! I haven't read Kate Robb's first book, but I have it on my radar now.

This book is vindication for all the TV series watchers who were left feeling sad about a cancellation or who felt like their favorite characters ended up with the wrong partners. A definite blend of Dawson’s Creek and Pleasantville, this is a light, fun read with a sweet, albeit predictable, storyline and positive message.

I've only ever seen one episode of Dawson's Creek (I don't remember the plot, except that Joshua Jackson's character got a restaurant job and had to practice slicing potatoes until he could get paper-thin cuts). However, after reading Prime Time Romance, I feel like I've seen them all.

This book has a charming premise, and for readers of a certain age, it will undoubtedly deliver a sweet dose of nostalgia. It's nicely paced with likable characters who learn essential lessons, but the attraction between Brynn and Josh feels a bit forced and underdeveloped. Since the sizzle is what I'm looking for when I pick up any romance novel, this one ended up being just ok for me. It wasn't bad, and I have no serious complaints, but the romantic tension wasn't satisfying enough to garner more than three stars.

I will say, one thing Kate Robb does extremely well is creating lighthearted alternate realities. I enjoyed watching Brynn and Josh acclimate to life as Carson's Cove's returning sweethearts. This aspect of the novel was incredibly tight and well-plotted.

If you enjoyed Kate Robb's This Spells Love, definitely read this one. If you have to choose between the two, go with the former.

The cover, title and premise are all what drew me into this book. However, I found while about the first 20% of the book was okay, the rest was just too slow moving. I also didn't really feel a connection with either of the main characters.

A unique take on a romance novel. Brynn and Josh are roommates, and she's obsessed with Carson's Cove, a Dawson's Creek-esque show she binges on Netflix.
The day after her birthday, the two of them find themselves in Carson's Cove, tasked with getting the happy ever after for the series leads that didn't happen when the show was abruptly cancelled. The story was well done but just kind of hard to wrap my head around, as Brynn and Josh developed feelings for each other as their true selves but also played out their alternate personas.
It was an interesting book with a good ending. I liked the extras at the end that explained the Easter Eggs from other shows I hadn't watched.

Prime Time Romance was such a fun read!

The characters, setting and magic realism made it the most unique read I’ve ever read. Imagine 16 wishes the movie but instead it’s Brynn making a wish on her 30th birthday for a happy ending and is then sucked into her favorite television show starring her and her roommate!

This book was fun, funny and soo witty. The early 2000s tv show vibes were perfectly sprinkled through out the story and as a girl who grew up on 2000s dramas I ate this story up!

All I wished for is more angst between the characters, I wanted to feel them fall head over heels for each other but even though I didn’t feel the angst I still very much enjoyed the story as a whole.
