Primetime Romance is a kitschy Rom-Com reminiscent of the 90’s and early 2000’s drama shows. I really loved the idea of this book but struggled connecting with it.
Brynn is recently divorced and has a pretty messy life. She spent several months this afternoon her husband left her binge watching her favourite drama show from her teenage years.
Josh is Brynn’s roommate. Brynn needed help paying the bills after her split with her husband and Josh needed a place to stay, they work opposite shifts so while they are polite to each other, they barely know each other.
When a cake arrives at their door for Brynn’s 30th birthday, Josh encourages her to make a wish. Next thing you know, Brynn and Josh wake up and are part of the show Brynn loves. They are portraying two of the main characters and it’s real life not a show.
Somehow they must help the main characters find the perfect ending they deserve which was cut short by the show ending abruptly. As Brynn and Josh navigate the perfect little town with the perfect townsfolk, they realize, nothing is quite as perfect as it may seem.
This story relied heavily on the kitschy dramas from the 90’s and early 2000’s like: Dawsons creek and 90210. I haven’t read this author before but I did like her writing style, I just didn’t connect with the story or characters at all. This is a 3 star read for me.

What if you could be actor on your favorite show, would it be all the hype you hoped it would be? I thought this was creative story writing, it was funny, lighthearted, and full of magic.
I am sucker for magical love stories, so I knew I had to read this one and I loved it! I can't wait to see what Kate Robb does next because I will grab it right up.
Is love on the small screen better than the real thing? Well Brynn is about to find out as she makes birthday wish and wakes up the next morning on her favorite show Carson's Cove. But it is not just her there her roommate Josh is also here. But they are not Brynn and Josh they are Sloan the sweetheart of the show and Josh is Flech the town's bad boy. To get back home they have to make Brynn wish come true and that is Sloan and Spencer the shows heart throb must get together. But as Brynn and Josh work together to get home, they just might learn that love is not as simple. In all the mix of plotting and planning they start to have feelings for themselves, but will that get them home? Can they rewrite the script?
Thank you To NetGalley and Dial Press for copy of this book for my honest review.

"Prime Time Romance" presents a tribute to one of the more popular 2000's time-period shows: "Dawson’s Creek". Confession: i've never actually even seen an episode of this show, but I have been told I need to watch it!
After a random guy with bleached hair delivers a cake at midnight exactly and Brynn makes a wish to have her happily ever after.... her & her roommate Josh, are transported into a world based on her favorite teenage drama show, Dawson's Creek, which is Carson's Cove. Unable to leave until the two give the main characters the happily ever after they deserve, Brynn and Josh are forced to stick to their roles. However, as Brynn gets close to her love match, she finds that all she wants is to stick by Josh instead. I thoroughly enjoyed the small town and 2000s references, as well as it also being entertaining. It seemed real with a hint of magic in it and I loved the ending so much.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my review & honest opinions!

This is my second read from this author and I was pleasantly surprised. I did enjoy this one even though I went in with skepticism because the reality tv plot didn't really grab my attention. However this was a fun little romcom and an easy read. I will say, I did not enjoy it as much as This Spells Love, which I really loved, but I will still give this one 4 stars as well!

This is a very cute book with an interesting and unique premise. I enjoyed it and would recommend. Thank you for allowing me to read it.

The vibes of this book are everything! Reminded me of AUSTENLAND but for DAWSON'S CREEK fans and what an absolute delight.

Prime Time Romance was such a fun read and a love letter to mid-2000s teenage soaps (with a magical realism twist). If you loved shows like Dawson's Creek or One Tree Hill, you will most definitely love this one!

I was more disappointed than I wanted to be with Prime Time Romance. I didn't connect with the characters, even in the romantic moments. I didn't feel like there was much emotion shown, despite a very good narration from Kristyna Ruth Zaharek and Sean Patrick Hopkins. The words didn't quite hit me the way other romance books have. There is definitely a small town feel and and the writing style makes this story is light and fluffy, so if those are points you'd like to highlight, this might just be for you!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Waking up one day in your favorite TV show? Sounds like a dream! That's what happens to Brynn and her roommate, Josh, one morning. I really have mixed feelings about this. I loved the premise. I liked most of the characters. I just wanted more? More romance maybe? It was an easy, quick read. And I enjoyed watching Brynn and Josh try to navigate life as characters in a show. But, I felt like something was lacking for me and I'm not exactly sure what it was. Overall, it was cute and fun, but if you're looking for a lot of substance or romance this one may not be for you.

This book was so adorable. I loved all the Easter eggs for the 90s teen shows. Theresa romance was very predictable but it worked here.

Prime Time Romance by Kate Robb is the kind of book that’s perfect for when you want a cute, feel-good romance with just the right amount of drama! The story follows Lila, who works at a TV network and ends up falling for someone totally unexpected, her new coworker, Max. But of course, things get complicated, especially when their personal lives start to mix with their professional ones.
What I really liked about this book is how easy it is to get wrapped up in the characters’ lives. Lila is relatable, funny, and a little awkward in the best way. Max is charming and mysterious, but not in a way that feels overdone. The chemistry between them is really good, and the way their relationship builds feels natural and real. There’s definitely some tension and back-and-forth, but that’s what makes it fun!
The pacing is quick, and there’s just the right balance of romance, work drama, and self-discovery. It’s not overly complicated, but it’s full of those little moments that make you smile and root for the couple. The secondary characters are fun too, adding a little extra humor and depth to the story.

This was a super cute romcom! The FMC is having a not so great birthday. Somehow, she gets stuck as the main character from her comfort tv show - with her hot roommate. Forced proximity, magical realism, and they're roommates? Sold.

This was an interesting read but I liked the idea behind it. I appreciate the concept of having to "experience" the love story you think you understand from a show firsthand to see that emotions are more complex than television. Although it's only Brynn who appreciates the show, the fact that Josh got pulled in to the fictional world who just so happen to land a character that somehow resonates with his situation IRL also gives more depth to the one-sided happy ending Brynn thought Sloan deserves. I love the romance that built up around the story as it didn't feel forced to me.

If you grew up watching The WB in the early 2000s, this book is for you! The Dawson's Creek vibes and other early aughts Easter Eggs made me laugh out loud. I loved this book! Kind of like a choose your own adventure mixed with a reboot of your favorite show. I didn't feel the romance between Brynn and Josh, but it was better than the supposed romance between Sloan and Spencer from the tv show. Despite that, my teenage heart loved reliving the glory days through this fun book!

I really enjoyed premise of this book. That is what pulled me in because who doesn't have a comfort TV show? I am not sure where I lost the momentum for the book. I enjoyed the beginning and I think it was a great start, but started to drag once we got into the middle of the book. I also felt the characters were relatively shallow and static. I think adding further depth would help enhance the reading experience more.

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. Prime Time Romance follows Brynn, a 30 year old divorcee who is happiest reliving her favorite teen soap from 15 years ago, and Josh, her relatively unknown to her roommate. After making a wish that magically transports both of them to the fictional northeastern town Carson's Cove from the show, they must figure out how to team up to get themselves back home.
This book has all the trappings of a cozy romance, two likable main characters, a semi-fictional love triangle, and an idyllic small town setting. Brynn felt very real in the way that she was struggling to move on with her past and open a new decade. I think the message the book sends that we wanted when we were young may not always be the best for us is an important one as well. However, the magical realism of it all left something (for me) to be desired. I understand that it's not 100% realistic (hence the magical part) but the premise/rules/world building felt flimsy at times. This was a solid 3.5 stars for me and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys magical realism though.

I’ love Kate Robb’s magical realism and the way she writes male leads, and Prime Time Romance definitely has its moments. The cozy, Pleasantville-like vibes were so fun, and I loved the small-town charm. The magic was there, but the story felt a little lighter than I hoped. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a sweet and charming, just not one that sticks like This Spells love did!

cute romance. kind of gave 90s early 2000s rom com vibes which I really enjoyed definitely a fun read

as a 90s/00s teen drama connoisseur, i absolutely loved the premise of this and had high hopes. in the end though, the execution could have been better in my opinion. there were definitely some cute/intriguing elements, and it did keep my attention (i read 60% of the story in one sitting), but in the end, everything just felt very disjointed. mainly, I think we needed more world/character building and some better pacing. outside of brynn and josh, everyone and everything felt very surface-level, so it was hard for me to connect with the story the way i wanted to. i also think that brynn and josh lacked the swoon-worthy, angsty chemistry that i was looking for.
all this being said, i do think that overall, it was a cute read. it was well written and the main characters felt pretty relatable.

First time reading from this author and had trouble with the jump from reality into the sitcom but it was a sweet story with some fun parts but struggled with the overall feel and concept. I did enjoy how see resolved the win for the FMC to find a the solution on her own and without what what laid out for her but there were some link that struggled for me.
