I absolutely adored Kate Robb’s debut This Spells Love that’s the perfect mix of magical realism romantic comedy (if you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend).

I was so excited to get an ARC of Prime Time Romance. It was giving Dawson’s Creek and I loved the main characters connection but ultimately just fell flat for me…

As a Canadian, I really missed the Canadian setting and references that I was really looking forward to. However, I will gladly still read whatever Kate Robb comes up with next.

I’m ranking this a 4.5/5. I read this book start finish in one day. It has a fun concept…a recently divorced woman wakes up inside a teen drama she grew up watching along with her roommate. Will they find their way back home?

I watched a few teen dramas back in the late 90s/early 2000s and liked the Easter eggs. I also enjoyed that the lead character realizes sometimes parts of your favorite shows don’t always hold up with time, and it’s ok to want to grow past them a bit.

This was a cute story, a quick read, and I enjoyed it!

This book had an interesting plot line and has a beautiful cover. However, I was pretty bored the majority of the book when they were setting up the storyline and also the TV plot line. The main character annoyed me at times, I wasn't totally invested in her getting the character's happy ending for the TV show. However, I did enjoy the last 3/4 of the book, I feel like the pace was picked up and it got interesting with the 'bad guy' character getting revealed.

Yay! I love a good debut book! I was so excited when I receive an ARC for this one. Thank you so much!
Let’s get to it! This book starts off with the story of Brynn. She is such a wallflower that people forget her birthday. She just got divorced and she is starting a new chapter in her life but off on the total wrong foot. She makes a “ haha just kidding” wish for her bday.. kind of like 13 going on 30.
I love this trope! It was adorable, and such a fun light read. I ate this book up in a day because I couldn’t put it down.

Prime Time Romance is the first book I have read by Kate Robb and I really enjoyed it!

On Brynn's birthday, she makes a wish and ends up in her favorite comfort show, Carson's Cove.

This felt like a daydream I would have and I am not mad about it. I loved Dawson's Creek as a teen and this book gave me all the nostalgia. The main characters had a sweet, kind of instant for me, romance but it worked. The supporting characters were fun and I enjoyed seeing some token characters that we tend to find in our shows. ( Best friend, bad boy, rival etc)

At the end of the book, the author included some Easter eggs and other notes that I recommend reading. This was such a nice touch and I loved that it was included!

This story was a fast read with some really nice heartfelt moments about moving on and growing up. I would recommend to anyone that likes a lighthearted story and enjoys 90s/2000s tv nostalgia.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC!

I went into this with an open mind because the right book often lands when we don't expect it. But I really struggled with the in a tv show theme of this book. Thank you for letting me try it!

Oh my goodness, this book was absolutely delightful! Imagine waking up in Carson’s Cove, the dreamy setting of Brynn’s all-time favorite binge-worthy 2000’s teen drama. That’s exactly what happens to Brynn and her charming roommate, Josh. The catch? They must craft the perfect ending for the show’s characters to find their way back to reality. How fun is that?

As a millennial & lover of all things nostalgic, I was in absolute heaven! This book is bursting with nostalgia, bringing the vibes of One Tree Hill meets Dawson’s Creek.

It was a cozy read, absolutely perfect for summer/fall. I found myself giggling and kicking my feet in pure joy, with just the right amount of sizzle to make the romance extra swoon-worthy.

If you could live in a fictional town from any show of your choosing, what would it be?

That’s a little bit of the premise featured in Prime Time Romance, and it definitely made it a lot more interesting than some of the other contemporary romances. I read one of Kate Robb’s books the other day and fell in love, and so obviously I had to check out this arc!

I actually liked this, in the context of a beachier read! It’s light, fun, and filled with a lot of whimsy. While at times, I felt like some of the things happening were really outrageous, I immediately pulled myself back on earth. It was all meant to help outrageous—that’s the point. I do wish this were longer though, because I found myself just wanting more of Josh and Brynn. Def a creative, fun one!!

I read Kate Robb's first book in November as my BOTM pick and I enjoyed it. Prime Time Romance was fudging cute. Brought me back to my 2000's angsty television shows I loved. The premise of this book had me hooked. From the beginning I thought it was funny and witty and Robb's writing style was so smooth by the time I looked up from my kindle I was already 40% in. I think Brynn and Josh were great lead characters. I don't say this often but I wish this book was a tad bit longer to give us the full chemistry our leads deserve. At some points I felt rushed but I did love their little moments together. I don't really think the sexy time scenes were needed in this book it just seemed kind of out of place. I think it would have been clever with closed door romance because they are in a PG world with no swearing and everything is perfect but also maybe that was the point of which the author were going for?...Regardless the book would still have been good without it.

If you liked the movie Isn't It Romantic and Pleasantville or tv shows like Dawson's Creek or The OC. this is for you.

3.75/5 for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC of this book. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to binge One Tree Hill.

Before I get into my review I want to give a massive thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group/Dial Trade for providing an arc for me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Were you a fan of the Disney Channel Original Movies back in the early 2000’s?!?!Let me tell you do I have the book for you! Katie Robb’s newest book focuses on Brynn, who’s recently divorced and down on her luck. We also have our MMC Josh, the roommate who’s struggling with his own internal battles. Like any millennial, Brynn has her comfort show Carson’s Cove. However, the show ended on a massive cliffhanger of will they, won’t they. While Josh and Brynn after bonding watching episodes of Carson’s Cove. They are interrupted with a knock on the door. Presenting a Brynn with a birthday cake and for her to make a wish. Little do they know that Brynn’s wish is about to fling them into the world of television. The two of them wake up in an alternate reality where she turns into Sloane, and her roommate Josh also appears as Fletch. And of course the chaos ensues from there.

While yes I did thoroughly enjoy the DCOM movies back in the day, I think reading it in book form just didn’t do it for me. Ow don’t get me wrong I found the book super entertaining and very easy to read. But it wouldn’t be one of those books I could picture myself re-reading. I think my main issues with the book were the characters. I had a really hard time connecting to them. And I found the love story rushed and too insta-lovey. So overall I decided to give it three stars, which means I had no negative feelings, but I wish I could love it more.

Even with all that being said I still throughly enjoy Katie Robbs books. And I will definitely continue reading her books. I also recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun light romance read!

Prime Time Romance is the first book by Kate Robb I have read, and I am looking forward to reading more! This scratched the feel good romance itch perfectly, and as someone who adores teen dramas even now, well into my 20s, it was a hit. The warm cozy feelings of nostalgia and small towns not being everything they seem was executed wonderfully.

The character arcs all got resolved just the way I wanted them too, with the happily ever afters all neatly tucked away, perfect and satisfying.

My only complaint is that it wasn’t longer! I fell in love with the characters, with the setting, but felt that some aspects were a little rushed over, the ending particularly felt quick. I wanted just a little more time with Josh and Brynn outside of the Cove.

Overall, this was a joy to read.

This book completely lived up to its phenomenal cover! The concept was so unique and clever and was executed so, so well. I felt completely emerged in this “perfect” tv world and felt like it was a show I had grown up watching too. Brynn and Josh had amazing chemistry and their building romance against the backdrop of their magical situation and the ticking clock of it kept me unable to put this down

This book will give you all the comfort and nostalgia. In this second chance romance Brynn is giving a chance to finally get her happily ever after, but will it be everything she hoped for? Will she realize before it’s too late that reality might be better than picture perfect? This story is told through a classic point of view, one that everyone will love and devour. I definitely recommend reading it when the book releases on September 3rd.

Prime Time Romance is super cute - I could practically hear the theme song to Dawson's Creek so many times while I was reading this. I really loved Kate Robb's previous novel, This Spells Love, so I was very excited to read this. This novel had such a fun premise - with some of the extreme characters and over-the-top moments you find in the teen dramas of my upbringing. It is definitely a little campy and exaggerated and unfortunately it didn't hold my interest as much as Kate's previous novel. Sheldon was super creepy as was Poppy in her own way. Moments of disaster and drama in the town in the typical tv-format seem to build up and explode and then magically get resolved overnight. Brynn and Josh seem to fall in love instantly after weeks (or months?) of living in the same townhouse as roommates who barely ever saw each other. So I think their chemistry needed more development. The novel was a fun escape overall - looking forward to reading more from this author. Thank you to Random House, Dial Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this novel.

thank you netgalley and publishers for allowing early access to this book.

I thought the concept of waking up in your comfort show after a really hard year was an interesting concept. But, i didn’t like how she was 30 and fed so into this idea that these characters were real life people. She seemed more on the scale of these people are real and have slightly lived their lives in the 15 years since the show ended the same way in their small carson’s cove beach town which obviously, they’re actors who left right after the show ended.

She discovered after looking at the show and set in a different light that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. the idolized “it” couple Sloan and Spencer aren’t all that compatible especially after 15 years even if it was her acting as Sloan. Sloan and poppy had a very toxic mean girl friendship and energy and their “arch nemesis” Luce is actually way more fun to be around than Poppy. She discovered that the show was stuck in this weird cycle of things that probably weren’t all that cracked up to be to begin with.

Now onto the romance aspect: She was sucked into this tv show life after her birthday wish with her roommate Josh who she didn’t actually know all that well as they worked opposite schedules. They basically trauma bond with being stuck in this tv town, forced proximity, former roommates, bond over their issues (divorcee and losing his dad + his dads bar) and end up forming feelings for each other.

The one thing i didn’t really expect was it to have so much spice in the scenes that had it. the entire book was more closed door than anything. No explicit thoughts, barely a kiss here and there and then BAM as soon as the unknown slow burn ends it’s very explicit. there’s 2 scenes like this and they don’t fit the storyline outside of it at all. it was very abrupt and unexpected.

While I wish it had just a bit more spice, this was an overall good read. The premise is super cute and unique.

I don't read book summaries, reviews, or blurbs, so I am generally going into a story with no idea of what I'm going to find. I'm so glad I did that with this one! For those of you who DO read reviews before selecting a book, I will say this: if you were/are a fan of Dawson's Creek in any way, shape, or form, this book is for you. Such a cute sophomore effort!🥰

This story was truly exceptional!! It really gives life to my own fantasies of wanting live in the make believe television world of my favorite shows.... one tree hill, Gilmore girls, friends, etc. I liked how instead of the MC's falling in line & acting put the script to a tee, they naturally deviated from the predetermined way & paved their own way..

Brynn was adorable. I felt for her divorce situation and them having shitty ass friends. I really do want to know what happened to her belongings from the bar though. I liked that Brynn tried to sacrifice her own happy ending for Josh, she thought for sure she would be stuck & did it anyways.

Josh is such a sweetie pie!!!! He has his own shit and masks it so well.

Loved this story. I wish Luce could be in the real world though.

I didn't come in to this book in the correct headspace, I think I misread the blurb. I was expecting straight up reality TV romance, but not was I wrong. Once I readjusted my outlook this was a fun story.
Like a Hallmark movie come to life, but a bit creepy. It's perfect for fans of feel-good stories and second chances at love. The main character, Brynn, is super relatable, and the whole premise of getting sucked into a tv show is just plain fun. If you're looking for a lighthearted escape, this book is definitely worth checking out!

I loved this cute book about a woman and her handsome roommate who get sucked into a Dawson's Creek-like show to guarantee a happy ending for the main couple! The romance between the characters (one had to act as the female lead of said show, the other a bad boy character on the side) was natural, believable, and slowly developed but not frustratingly so. You can tell the author knows her CW teen shows very well. The spicy scenes were perfect and I'm very pleased the story resolved quickly and happily. I highly recommend this one!
