I’m a sucker for Dawson’s Creek type of narrative and dual POV - how lucky that this book has both! I always enjoy a short romcom but I think there needed to be more time spent with the main characters in order to believe they fell in love as quickly as they did. Overall it was a cute light read.

Thank you NetGalley and the Publishers for this ARC in exchange for a honest review. Kate Robb is an author who just has a writing style I absolutely devour. I knew when receiving this ARC, after absolutely loving This Spells Love, that this book would be no different. Prime Time Romance had such a cool and unique storyline to anything I’ve read lately - I love romances, so combine that with the concept of entering your favorite TV show - where everything is amazing and anything that goes wrong always has a way of fixing itself - only to find out things aren’t always as perfect as they seem… and you’ve got me hooked. I think this story at the surface is something sooooo many people can relate to and was so fun to read. I love how Kate Robb developed both Brynn and Josh’s character to not only realize the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but also have so much growth and push past their insecurities too. I also love that with each the authors stories so far - there’s a little bit of paranormal activity going on, there’s a slow burn with delicious tension building, and there are lessons to be taken away from the story. I would rate this story 3.75 stars and absolutely recommend reading it when published! I definitely will be reading all of Kate Robb’s work in the future ◡̈

I finished this book in less than 72 hours. Just like her last book, I felt the premise of this story was quite original and the characters well written. The main character, Brynn binges Carson’s Cove (a fictional Dawson’s Creek) and wishes herself a real life happy ending and ends up trapped in Carson’s Cove with her roommate Josh. I think the story line will appeal most to people who enjoyed Dawson’s Creek growing up but definitely not necessary. It definitely added to the enjoyment though. The story follows the roommates trying to give the main characters of Carson’s Cove their happy ending in order to return home while also facing their issues from the real world. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys feel good books but is tired of the same old story lines used

Thank you so much Netgally for the opportunity to read and review this book. After reading Kate Robb’s debut novel This spells love, I was excited to see what the author brought next. It was a quick fun and entertaining book with a touch of magical realism, cute characters and endearing moments. I enjoyed the writing and found the plot nostalgic and cozy. I recommend.

If you are a fan of 90’s teen dramas run out and read this book. You’ll notice lots of Easter eggs. Josh is a swoony Paceylike hero. (Pacey Forever!) Brynn gives off later season Joey vibes. It’s a cute read. I do wish the characters were fleshed out a little more. They went from 0 to in love very quickly. But overall it was an enjoyable read.

I’m a sucker for an alternate reality book, and I’m also a sucker for TV so I knew this book would be a great read for me! I really liked both of our main characters a ton! I would say I wish I could visit Carson’s Cove, but I’m a little afraid to say that 😂 my only reasoning for it not being 5 stars is I wanted more closure with the secondary characters, but I’m also happy with the ending!

This reminded me a lot of the Disney Channel movie Teen Beach Movie but the adult version.
I really liked the concept. It’s fun, different and kept me guessing as to what would happen.
The romance has its ups and downs but overall I liked it. I think a few more scenes were needed between the characters to build up the romance more.
Also if you enjoy Gilmore Girls/Dawson Creek type dramas, you’ll probably enjoy this since the show the main character is in resembles them.
A unique book that will entertain readers.

This book started so cute and I adored the first bit. After about 40% in I was a little zoned out by the story and I felt like it dragged a bit. The last 10% is cute and made my heart warm. I like the style of writing, and could easily picture the characters by the rich descriptions from the author.

I enjoy how this novel brings romcom and nostalgia together. I could easily pick out which show the characters most resemble, which made me happy and comforted.

This book is quick witted and very entertaining! I love how it brings back all my 90's TV obsessions, think Bev Hills 90210, Buffy & Dawson's Creek all mixed together and i could hear the music of my teen years!
This book is a roommate's to so much more than lovers storyline and is everything you want in-between. Friendships, family and some spice.
Brynn and Josh made ne think of Joey and Dylan more than Joey and Pacey but I think that's more my love of Dylan. Their chemistry and spice scenes made me smile and blush just enough.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC. I loved This Spells Love, I thought it was clever and fun and funny. This is also clever and fun and funny, but not as much. It is very much a rewrite of Pleasentville, with a little bit of steam. I liked the wink wink nods to Dawson Creek, and it really seemed to pick up in the end. 3.5 stars.

The biggest THANK YOU to the Kate Robb, Netgalley, and Penguin Randomhouse for this book.
5 stars. Loved every nostalgic minute of this. I’m pretty sure Kate Robb and I would have been bestie TV watching buddies in middle/high school.
I like romance books, but I really adore the ones that dabble in magic, and this one was hit for me.
As much as I enjoyed the walk down memory lane, the core of this novel - a FMC getting out of a divorce and learning about what it means to really have a perfect relationship and an MMC who is dealing with loss in his life is what connected with me the most.
A must buy auto read author for me for sure now.

Though the overall story has cute, feel-good vibes, I also think the plot is a bit tricky as it felt like a horror story at times - being stuck in a situation you have no control over and cannot escape…that aside, this is a fun read, especially if you love creative storylines and magical realism.

I adored the first few chapters and learning about Brynn’s current struggle with being a young divorcee and feeling like she has no allies or real friends. Her chemistry with Josh was evident as was the potential for them to be a perfect match. 3.5 stars.

Thank you to Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

It's Pleasantville meets Dawson's Creek with lots of lovely nods to classic 90s and 00s teen shows. A birthday wish leads Brynn into the world of Carson's Cove, her comfort watch teen show which ended with a cliffhanger. Brynn is now Sloan, the heroine of the show who never got her happy ending with Spencer. As Sloan, Brynn has to ensure wrongs are righted. Unfortunately her housemate Josh has also been pulled into Carson's Cove, where he's the bad boy . Will Brynn fulfil her mission, or will she discover that the happy endings we crave might come differently to how we thought?

Kate Robb crafts a compelling alternative universe with witty and funny banter, blistering chemistry and a heartwarming story about healing your heart after its broken. Brynn longs for the sort of happy endings in TV, but she's been broken since her husband divorced her and she lost all her friends. I adored Josh and his own issues, dealing with his grief that's compounded by having to sell his father's bar.

I breezed right through this book because it was just so enjoyable with lovely touches of whimsy and charm, and characters to root for. Every chapter had me turning the page to eagerly find what happens next. This is the perfect read if you've ever wanted to live in the world of a fictional universe, so much so I wish I could visit Buddy's and meet Brynn and Josh.

Thanks to Random House/Dial Press Trade Paperback and NetGalley for the ARC.

I was invited to read this book by the publisher. This book has a quirky storyline, wherein roommates Josh and Brynn wind up as characters in her favorite soap opera show after she makes a wish for a happily ever after. I had so much fun with this book and loved the unique storyline. I enjoyed reading along while the characters learned that even in a soap opera, perfection really isn't what we ultimately want or need.

Brynn, a recently divorced woman who is navigating the complexities of life alongside her roommate Josh. Despite her efforts, Brynn finds herself feeling out of place in her social circle and enduring a string of disappointing dates. As her 30th birthday approaches, Brynn's night takes a turn for the worse when she loses her phone and wallet, leaving her feeling stranded and disheartened.
Brynn and Josh make their way home until the arrival of a mysterious stranger bearing a birthday cake sets the stage for a magical journey of self-discovery and newfound hope. As Brynn makes a wish in a moment of uncertainty, we are thrown into a captivating story filled with twists and turns that keep them eagerly turning the pages.

Kate Robb wrote this book with her heart and soul. It felt like the start of a dreamy teen beach movie. And yes, Kate, I felt the vibes you were going for!!
I read this in one day, I absolutely loved it

Thank you to NetGalley and Dial Press Marketing for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was adorable. If you've ever felt like you'd like to one day wake up and be living in your favorite television show as one of the main characters, then this should be a pickup for you.

Brynn was having a hard time after her divorce from Matt. She'd taken on a new roommate, Josh, in her husband's absence to help with the mortgage and other bills. On her 30th birthday, a stranger shows up to her door with a birthday cake for her, and Brynn and Josh just assume he's an Uber Eats driver. Brynn makes a wish as she blows out her candle, and the next morning, she and Josh wake up inside Brynn's favorite tv series, Carson's Cove. In order to return to their normal lives back in Toronto, Brynn has to be willing to give her character the ending that people thought she'd been denied years earlier when the show was abruptly cancelled. The real question for Brynn is, is she willing to give up everything she now actually wants in order for that to happen?

The writing is darling, the characters are likeable, and there are open door scenes throughout the second half. If you enjoyed Kate Robb's This Spells Love, you'll enjoy Prime Time Romance.

Kate Robb is so good at the buildup between two love interests, that period of tension and secret pining before they realize they've caught real feelings. I loved the interactions between Josh and Brynn and feel like they truly had great chemistry. At the very end (spoiler alert?) it felt like they announced that they were in love with each other super quickly after being romantically involved for only a couple days, but they also had a relationship as roommates before that, so I guess that makes it more understandable. I loved reading about the evolution and flip flop of Luce and Brynn's (Sloan's) relationship and Poppy and Brynn's (again, Sloan's) relationship. But I couldn't get on board with the idea of them magically ending up in this TV show land but set 15 years after the show ended. I think I needed more of an explanation as to how and why they ended up there. The explanation that was given felt kind of half-baked... Why did Sheldon show up to HER apartment specifically? How does he have so much sway/influence over how her birthday wish is fulfilled?? She could have gotten her perfect happily ever after a number of different ways that didn't involve getting whisked away and into the set of this TV show. I just needed more. Keeping that in mind, I still devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I still love Kate Robb's writing and her characters and will absolutely continue to read anything she writes. If you enjoyed Pleasantville or Teen Beach Movie you'd probably really enjoy this! Thank you to Netgalley for this e-arc!

ARC REVIEW (thanks NETGALLEY!)

This was cute for someone who was a fan of 90s teen dramas. The characters weren’t fleshed out enough for me; you didn’t really get to know Brynn because she was too busy playing Sloan. Brynn and Josh fall in love after only like 4 days. Maybe if they had more history living together prior it would’ve made more sense.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

This was SO DARN CUTE.
I really enjoy Kate Robb’s writing and now must pick up her other novel This Spells Love.
The characters jumped off the page and were so lovable. The touch of magic pulled me in. And even though I didn’t personally get all of the teen TV show Easter eggs having not watched some of them myself, it was still a fun setting that I enjoyed.
