I thought the narrator, Karen Chilton, was a perfect fit for I'm a Flight Nurse by Lauren Kakla. At only 10 minutes this short audiobook is the perfect length to introduce what goes into working as a flight nurse, keep kiddos engaged while listening, and spark an interest to learn more. I appreciated the glossary because there are unfamiliar medical words that children may not understand. Loved it!

Th you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for the gifted ALC.

As an ER nurse, I was interested to listen to this audiobook. I felt it was a bit boring, if I'm being honest. As a kid, I don't think there is enough excitement to keep me entertained. The narrator was a perfect fit.

I am a paramedic and a Nurse Practitioner and my husband is a combat medic recently returned from Syria in the Army so when I saw this book I felt an instant connection to it! It was a quick cute read that did a good job of explaining what a flight nurse does. Also fun fact: I have always wanted to be a flight nurse with U of Michigan.

I loved this book! the narration, the pacing, the stories all kept me thoroughly wanting more while listening to the audiobook. It's a unique story about a person we never hear a lot about and from a flight nurse's point of view. It was interesting and fun to read about.

What is a flight nurse and what do they do? I’m a Flight Nurse by Lauren Kukla answers these questions and more about these important health care workers. This non-fiction children’s book follows a flight nurse throughout their day and talks about the key parts of their job. There is a short interview with a flight nurse toward the end of the book along with a glossary of helpful terms.

The audiobook is about ten minutes long. I’m a Flight Nurse and would be an excellent addition to any classroom or homeschool Community Helper/Social Studies curriculum.

My mom was a life-flight nurse and this is the first time that I have ever seen this job represented in a children’s book. I look forward to adding a copy to our home library once it is released.

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed an advanced copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Mayo Clinic Press, Dreamscape Media, and Netgalley!

This little audiobook made being a flight nurse sound so fun and important. The narrator is great, and she talks about how her days are different every day depending on what happens. She talks about the good and the bad, and how much she enjoys helping people and taking care of patients, and how important it is to be flexible. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

"I'm a Flight Nurse" by Lauren Kukla is part of the Health Heroes series of children's books put out by Mayo Clinic Press. These books all tell about jobs in the health care industry so children can learn about and understand them.

Chapter 1 is an introduction. A flight nurse is a nurse who rides in the helicopter and keeps the patient safe during transport.

Chapter 2 tells about the toolkit such as the fire retardant suit, stethoscope, and radio. Then she tells about her team, which is the pilot, the other flight nurse, and the dispatcher.

Chapter 3 is a day in the life of the flight nurse. They may be called to areas that ambulances cannot access or may bring a patient to a different hospital for surgery. Someone might be having a heart attack and require very rapid response. They often deal with very sick or very seriously injured patients.

Chapter 4, Patients Come First, is an interview with a real life flight nurse. She says you need to be very flexible and open minded to do this job. The superhero skill is teamwork.

Finally, there is a glossary for words that were used in the book such as allergic reaction, sedate, surgery, and vital signs.

Karen Chilton did an excellent job narrating this book. Her voice was clear and pleasant to listen to.

This is a great book for a school or elementary classroom library!

This book is so incredibly well done. As an RN, I will definitely be sharing this with younger members of my family. It is comprehensive storytelling of a shift, explaining who they work with, what they do and and even a case scenario. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC.
