I thought Cary Hite did a fantastic job of narrating I'm a Custodian by Lauren Kakla. At only 12 minutes, this short audiobook will keep young listeners engaged, promote conversations about custodians and answer the question of what custodians do. In the case of I'm a Custodian, the custodian works in a hospital but the story addresses other places custodians work which I liked. I also liked the glossary at the end so uncommon words are explained.

Thank you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for the gifted ALC.

I loved the narrator on this short little audiobook -- he was so friendly and enthusiastic. He talked about being a custodian in a healthcare environment, why it's important, and what his days are like. This is a great book for schools and libraries so kids can learn about different jobs. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

"I'm a Custodian" by Lauren Kukla is part of the Health Heroes series of children's books put out by Mayo Clinic Press. These books all tell about a job in the health care industry so children can learn about and understand them.

Chapter 1 is an introduction. The hospital custodian helps keep the hospital clean and create a safe environment for people who aren't feeling well.

Chapter 2 tells about the toolkit such as the disinfecting wipes, mop, and toilet paper, which he keeps in his cart.

Chapter 3 is a day in the life of the custodian. He has to clean the public bathrooms and the entrances, clean a patient's room when they are discharged, and clean the rooms of current patients. He also cleans up any messes that occur.

Chapter 4, Patients Come First, is an interview with a real life hospital custodian. She tells us that respect and compassion are most important in her job. The superhero skill is compassion.
Finally, there is a glossary for words that were used in the book such as ER, sanitize, disinfect, virus, vulnerable, pediatric, and discharge.

Cary Hite did an excellent job narrating this book. His voice was clear and distinct and pleasant to listen to.

This is a great book for a school or elementary classroom library!
